Had a testy conversation with the lady in charge of the establishment, on life expectations and commitments. Brought my daughter to its open tryout, letting my daughter to decide if she wanted to start learning how to swim. At first, the lady politely told me this is actually a skill level tryout, so I proceeded to ask if an 8 yr old decides she no longer wants to continue with the classes in the 3rd week or even the middle of the whole 11 classes, and I have already signed her up for the full offering, will there be a refund, and she said no, so I responded with that seems like a ripoff, and I think that comment triggered her, and she went off about commitment and what not. I guess she hasn't heard of the term second thoughts, or "it's easier said than done". Remember, we are talking about a 3rd grader here. Either way, for me being a returning customer or not, she should have shown some respect either way. read more

Filthy dirty. My 3 year old got a severe ear infection. Pediatrician said it came from swimming at a dirty places.

My daughter received lessons about a couple years ago at the Syosset location. I was not going to post a review because she has moved on, and doing fantastic with a different program. However, after talking to many other parents and comparing notes, I felt compelled to share our story. I signed my daughter up after being recommended by another parent. She began swimming at 10 months, and swam at the local community pool during summer months and joined a local CYO team in the fall/winter. The goal was to get her on a club swim team and continue perfecting her skills, and eventually swim in college. She attended a tryout at Long Island Swim School, and the instructor recommended that she take lessons with them prior to being considered for the club team, which was fine with us. However, we never received any updates or feedback about her progression. When asked, they insisted that she needed more time before being considered for the club team. The instructor gave a timeline and it when it came to following up, we got the runaround. After almost a year of lessons, we decided it was time to leave. It just felt like a money grab, and all we got were excuses that she would never be able to handle swimming for 1 and a half to 2 hours each day for about five days a week, which is what was required for the club team. It would've been nice to receive more encouragement and more positive feedback rather than negativity. The instructor was very discouraging. Also, it felt like pulling teeth when we requested to know more about her progress or about joining the club team. We were very clear about our goals. Now I'm beginning to realize many others have had a similar experience. My daughter is now on a club team and is thriving. For the record, she swims 1.5 to 2 hours, 5 to 6 days a week. She's also on her school team and did amazing this past season as a freshman. I hope you find this review helpful. read more

NASTY STAFF!!!!! Don't even waste your time &/or money. I enjoyed up with a stomach bug one day and then two classes my son missed due to having sever asthma issue. Called to remake the 2 classes that he was sick for I was told to email NO response. So unprofessional!!! Not once was I told how my Son was progressing anything Way better Swim Schools out there. read more

I've been bringing my kids here ever since they were 2 and 3 and they love it! They are very understanding with rescheduling when your child gets sick and misses a class. Karla is the best! read more

The staff here is terrific and the facility is very clean. Affordably priced and excellent instructors. It is behind the Stark building, it can be a tad confusing to find in your first go around. Highly recommended for your little ones' swimming classes! read more

DO NOT GO THERE! They are horrible! My son got sick twice right after the day he went there. The first time I thought it's a coincidence, he got fever and an eye infection. Then came to the second time he got a fever and coughing for ten days. But this is not the worst. The worst is that the instructor curse my 9 year old son with "f" word and my son told the supervisor she either denying or apologize. My son doesn't want to go back there anymore. Overcrowded. My kids keep bumping into others in the swim lanes as there's too many swimmers and very large adults instructing...ridiculous...barely any pool time. My daughter and son has been coming here for the last 4 years. My daughter was always terrified of the water so we never had her take classes until she was 8 but she made leaps and bounds. She's learned so much and joined her middle school swim team this year. My son started when he was 5 and loves it so much he requested to take 2 classes a week. They both loved all their teachers. The managers here are great and have always worked with me. They know every student by name. They do have policies to adhere to so make up classes may not always be convenient for everyone but that is to be fair to others students. read more

Poor handling of kids and they give you lip service when there's a problem. The facility is clean and the instruction was good; however, (1) they mismanaged my credit card info, overcharged me and it was a headache to fix, and (2) the one time my 3 y/o (who loves the water/swimming!) didn't want to separate from me she was picked up and carried into the pool screaming and kicking until she was hyperventilating. I was repeatedly told their method works for most kids. Management and staff are so set on their own agenda of getting kids into the pool that it's hard for them to be flexible even if something just isn't working. read more

I wish I could give zero stars....poor management and staff. They give absolutely no feedback as to how your child is progressing. Our son was forcefully moved to the advanced class within just a few weeks after starting and he was not prepared. Class size not as promised and different instructors every week. Take my advice and send your child elsewhere. read more

Just signed my 23 month old daughter up for her 5th session of swim class. She absolutely loves it. She is doing so well and the teachers are great. We had a minor scheduling issue which Carla was super helpful in resolving. Very happy with Long Island Swim School!! read more

I saw some good reviews and it's close to home, so I decided to try it even with the hefty price tag. Maybe summer is not the best time, I felt like they had kids on summer breaks teaching, weren't really talking to the kids, but going through the motions. For the price, you expect better. They don't tell you how your child is doing or progressing, what they should work on, you never speak to instructors, basically drop off/pick up. The last session of the summer pack I signed up for, I expected some type of feedback. Nothing. Not to note that sometimes the cleanup crew decides to clean the family bathroom early, so I was told to take my daughter into the men's bathroom where she was highly uncomfortable. I took my daughter to another place and she loves it there, I won't be coming back here. read more

My 2 1/2 year old loves his swim lessons here! The staff is very nice and always welcoming. His instructor Jessica is amazing with him. The facility and pools are clean. They were very accommodating in scheduling a recent makeup session for us. I am pleased with the skills my son is learning at Long Island Swim School. read more
