Eric Gentile is an incredibly hands-on Aquatics Director who is invested in each swimmer's success. His patience and care is only matched by Spencer Tanchuck's knowledge, skill and ability to motivate! Their teamwork approach made what we felt was impossible possible.

And don't give me wrong I do love McDonald's too. Lol! Despite there has been often lifeguard stability issue, the indoor pool has been providing much pleasure and benefits for me and countless others. The water quality and temperature have been maintained very well at most of the times. If they occasionally fall short, the management would adjust soon as they get emails or verbal messages from members. Yes, I have to admit we are a bunch of pool snubs. Lol! Thank you the management team for spoiling us. Even during the Covid time, you tried very hard to keep the faculty, all classes and pool functioning fairly smoothly. I heart my YMCA. The best Y in the entire NYS.

They require everyone to wear socks in the playground, which is great since there are small children crawling around. The facility features a fun slide and adorable mini-rooms themed as a veterinarian's office, a doctor's office, and various kitchens for pretend play. There is also a separate area to sing 'Happy Birthday' and a convenient café station. I was very impressed with the venue and am excited to return again soon!

Once when my child's instructor was out, Mr.Charles was a sub, and I noticed him scolding my child a few times to stop playing with the water. Understandable that children need to listen but at the same time these are toddlers that lack complete understanding especially when your asking them to stop Playing with water. I didn't appreciate that, so if it happens again I will raise concerns with management. I believe there is a better way to handle children than making a stern face and asking them to stop. When he (Mr, Charles) noticed I was looking, he made a calm face really quickly. Next issue is that I've noticed more frequently, the waiting guests some of them have 0 people skills. They leave their bags on chairs and walk away for long periods. This is unfair to other waiting parents who would like to sit up front to watch their kids. I think there should be signage posted everywhere that if anyone gets up for any reason, they need to take their belongings with them or leave them in the cubbies at the back.

However, after talking to many other parents and comparing notes, I felt compelled to share our story. I signed my daughter up after being recommended by another parent. She began swimming at 10 months, and swam at the local community pool during summer months and joined a local CYO team in the fall/winter. The goal was to get her on a club swim team and continue perfecting her skills, and eventually swim in college. She attended a tryout at Long Island Swim School, and the instructor recommended that she take lessons with them prior to being considered for the club team, which was fine with us. However, we never received any updates or feedback about her progression. When asked, they insisted that she needed more time before being considered for the club team. The instructor gave a timeline and it when it came to following up, we got the runaround. After almost a year of lessons, we decided it was time to leave. It just felt like a money grab, and all we got were excuses that she would never be able to handle swimming for 1 and a half to 2 hours each day for about five days a week, which is what was required for the club team. It would've been nice to receive more encouragement and more positive feedback rather than negativity. The instructor was very discouraging. Also, it felt like pulling teeth when we requested to know more about her progress or about joining the club team. We were very clear about our goals. Now I'm beginning to realize many others have had a similar experience. My daughter is now on a club team and is thriving. For the record, she swims 1.5 to 2 hours, 5 to 6 days a week. She's also on her school team and did amazing this past season as a freshman. I hope you find this review helpful.
