The owner introduced himself, shook our hands, and came back twice to check on us. When I went inside to use the bathroom the inside the seats were full and a host directed me there. Enter David's Kitchen & Bar, opened for a little over a year now at 1020 Ohio Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45245. My daughter joined my wife and me on this visit, and while there is a kids menu, she opted for something more exciting and went with the crispy chicken sandwich topped with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and pickles on a potato bun with a loaded baked potato on the side ($15.69). Nothing too out of the ordinary, but a solid chicken sandwich and potato. My wife ordered the tender basket with fries ($13.99), which featured hand-breaded and fresh tenders that were really good. Their fries are also hand-cut and freshly fried. Good stuff! I enjoyed the grilled chicken balsamic sandwich topped with balsamic glaze, pickled onions, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and a mozzarella cheese melt served on a potato bun along with a small garden salad on the side ($15.69). I think this was the star of the meal. The balsamic glaze combined with pickled onion was outstanding!

We stopped by after a visit to the Newtown Candy shop. We took some lobster roll kits and clam chowder home. They pride themselves on fresh seafood regularly flown in from around the world. Their pricing is double Jungle Jims and triple kroger. Can't say good or bad until we try the fresh fish. For example they have many types of Salmon from around the globe. $49.99 for Sea Bass is pricey for me. I think Halibut was $39.99 a pound and the salmon was $20-$30 a pound. They also make their own sides. The clam chowder had too many potatoes. On Friday and Saturday nights they cook a few meals out back in a small tent/room. Main items are Lobster Rolls and Fish n chips.

In fact, I was so taken by the owner sharing the history of Lobsta Bakes and all of the items that are made onsite, that I completely forgot to take photos with one exception: the menu! They have a small space to serve dinner on weekends with a menu that changes often. From fresh fish to chowder, crab cakes, Lobster rolls, sauces, pies, and much more, this is a place you have to visit! I bought some clam chowder, lobster roll kits, crab cakes and lobster quiche- all were fantastic!

We found 2 seats at the bar, and a young lady wearing a bucket hat waited on us. I asked if the kitchen was still open (it was around 11 pm on Sat.) and she said yes. I ordered the fish & chips, with a bottle of Kentucky Bourbon Ale. Boyf ordered a pour of bourbon, and a burger. My entree look fine but was missing the cole slaw. I asked for it, and there was some confusion whether is came with or not. The other bartender may have been new, but bucket hat girl it did and I got a pretty large side of it. Everything tasted good, and I wouldn't hesitate to come back if in the area again.

There are a few gals who know how to serve, but not sure they all know to work together like a team. The manager is trying hard to fill in the gaps, and is so helpful. She got our drinks after about 10 min of us sitting at a table. The ambience is loud, crazy and overstimulating. The music alternated between a TV music video station, the jukebox and a live band with 2 of them competing at times. I liked the band and appreciated the music. I wish they would turn off the jukebox. There is A LOT going on with Keno, 10+ TVs that I could see, beer posters and ads everywhere. Tables low tops, high tops, bar chatter, cold breezes from the outside door with freezing temps, and just seems like a place that echos every sound. I can tune it all out, but some may not. Is it a sports bar, gambling bar, local watering hole, dive bar restaurant, outdoor lovely lounge with cool fire pit, or live music stop? Yup all of them!

The food is always consistently good. I've ate here at least half a dozen times and everything is always well done. I seem to always keep coming back to the goat burger. We arrived at 6p to an average evening crowd and were quoted 30 minutes to get a table. It ended up taking 60 minutes. Further, we then waited about 15-20 minutes for a server to greet us. Multiple times we were told about issues with the kitchen and how everyone was having to slow service and tables because the kitchen couldn't handle it. We looked around and by the time we sat down after 7p half the restaurant was empty! We finally got (some) of our food around 8p which was a bizarre mix of appetizers and entrees that were very lukewarm. The presentation and concept is great and we really enjoyed the beers. However, the SERVICE and operational management of this place was running like a restaurant just opened last week or something out of 'Bar Rescue'. Not sure we would want to go back...
