Antiquated practices - server has to wait until cook is finished preparing previous order before "calling out" new order. No screens. Very slow. Had to hunt down the sweetener for coffee. It may not be the fanciest, and it may not be gourmet but you know what you are getting when you walk into a Waffle House. Some locations are better than others but this one rates as one of the better options. The food is consistent and the service is efficient. I typically get the Texas Toast breakfast sandwiches with the hash browns but you also can't go wrong with an Omelette (Fiesta add mushrooms). Not a bad place to people watch as well as you can get some interesting characters. They've set the place up nicely to deal with the COVID restrictions so I felt completely comfortable dining in person. read more

We ended up here because other restaurants were closed. Not my first choice and I don't expect much. There is one guy at the grill working his butt off. He leaves between orders for maybe a minute. The server doesn't even greet us. She doesn't clean a table for us. We sit and clean our own table. Takes her ten minutes to take our order. My eggs were wrong but they do refix them and they are okay. The hashbrowns were half burnt, half non cooked all the way. Had the wrong toast. Back was not done on the ends but half burnt in the middle. The guy is doing his best, but I just don't think he's a good cook. He needed help. The girl, in between orders stood over by the cash register facing the back wall. I'm not sure what she did for the hour we were in there but she didn't clean off tables. I watched two families stand by the door. She saw them and never said a word. There are three empty tables that she didn't clean. One sat uncleaned or at leas 45 minutes as the couple left right after we ordered. NO ONE cleaned the tables. BOTH families left without being talked to and there were there at least ten minutes. Walked in and we were greeted. There were no tables and the counter was full of dirty dishes. A manager was using part of the lower counter as a work station. We sat down and waited for somebody to bus the counter or for a table to open. Finally a table left and we thought we would be seated. We came her for my oldest boy who was going thru a procedure the next day and wanted to make sure he had what he wanted before the procedure. The food was okay although the restaurant was very loud consider it was just the crew and one other customer in the store. To be honest most of the noise was the customer but the employees were just as loud. The waiter had trouble hearing our order. Then when the waiter went to tell the cooks the order they couldn't hear him. I am really surprised my order was partially right. The noise wasn't the end of the world and honestly not that big of a deal. I ordered Philly bacon sandwich and Bert's chilis with cheese. The chili came out with no cheese and the sandwich had very little cheesesteak​ on it. My boy's waffle was good and no one else had complaints about the food. When the bill came it came out the full price which was an issue considering kids eat free that night of the week. It seems like this happens every time we have that special at Waffle House. I'm an out of town guest. My experience at this Waffle House was an example of blatant racism, at its best! When I originally placed my order for take out, I realized I left my wallet at my hotel. I asked the cashier if she could put the order through anyway, as my hotel was only across the street. She told me she would put my order through when I returned with payment. Fine. So I returned with payment only to be told by a manager in training by the name of Ryan that I had to wait until all of guests who were dining in were seated and served first, even if they arrived AFTER me. I told him where I come from, it's first come first served, regardless if a consumer is taking out or dining in. He then proceeded to tell me that all of the waffle houses in the United States are busy at this time and that I would need to wait. I asked him how would he know that? I was there for 20 mins so I asked him did he at least put my order through. He said "as I explained to you, you would need to wait." Words were exchanged so then I asked another staffer who was standing next to Ryan "are you guys going to allow him to stand here and argue with me knowing he's in the wrong?" So the woman, by the name of Jamie, stepped in and help (very pleasant woman). She took the order that I gave to Ryan and put in in for me. She told me to give her 5 mins. There was another woman there who was pleasant (I didn't get her name), but she at least offered me a beverage while I waited. She knew I was there for awhile. Jamie politely gave me my order and apologized. It wasn't her fault but I appreciated the gesture. I went back to my hotel room to find out that Ryan put in the WRONG order. I went back to the Waffle House at Mason and told Ryan that I will be reporting him to the corporate office and to the better business bureau. The next thing I know, a disgusting person by the name of JESS, who wasn't even involved in the situation, turned around and yelled at me and told me to "GET OUT" because I was disrupting their place of business. I told Jess I wasn't leaving until they gave me my money back and that I would be reporting her too. I'm not surprised to read bad reviews on other forums from people of color, as I am a Black woman. I am disgusted to see that in this day and age, we are still experiencing racism and discrimination. Since I was a young girl, I've loved going to the Waffle House. If only we can give negative stars. Yelp should really consider that. This place is small and very slow paced. We walked in and were greeted by one staff and that was it. We found ourselves a table and sat down. After noticing that our waitress was walking around filling coffee and pretending to look at orders, instead of even acknowledging us, we walked out. We waited and watched as our waitress go from table to kitchen to table and then back to the kitchen, seemingly clueless.
