I have become convinced that this Long John Silver's is actually a money laundering operation. Every time I drive by, the parking lot is emptier than a Blockbuster in 2026. I've never seen more than three customers inside at once, and one of them looked lost. Yet somehow this establishment continues to exist year after year, defying all known laws of economics. The lights are always on. The employees are always there. The fish is always being fried. For whom? No one knows. I've spent months investigating. I've driven by at different times of day. Weekdays. Weekends. Lunch rush. Dinner rush. Nothing. Just an eerily calm building operating in a reality separate from our own. That said, the food was hot, the staff was friendly, and my order was correct. This place is actually 3 1/2 stars, however, I am giving 4 stars as the overall score is remarkably low for the quality of food and service. Suggestions for improvement. The dining area should be serviced hourly with regard to wiping down the tables and sweeping/mopping. Also checking and refilling the condiments hourly. And the soda fountain could do with a nightly scouring. So why the 1 1/2 stars. I suppose that in the past, this place was really bad: dirt on the register, potholes in the parking lot, mold growing in the soda fountain reservoir. This place is actually not as bad as that. San Angelo is a sleepy little town, and looks to be quite old. The downtown area has potholes, pavement has plenty of broken spots where there were once pretty tiles, and the buildings are just old. So with that knowledge, yes, there might have been potholes recently, but upon parking in the parking lot, we didn't notice any. I didn't go through the drive thru, so I cannot say there are none. Walking into the main dining area, there are crumbs on the tables, dusty shoe prints on the floor as well as crumbs, and the condiment tartar sauce was empty, however it was easily remedied when staff offered me a handful of tarter sauces. Garbage was not overflowing and I did not note any garbage on the floors either. Although a single napkin on the floor is not a "pile" of garbage as someone else had defined in their review. The staff were friendly and quite patient as I waffled between ordering different plates on the menu. My food came out promptly. The batter was warm and crispy, so obviously my food had not been sitting out all day, but not quite fresh from the fryer either. The food smelled and looked appetizing, just as I had remembered as a child growing up. The crispy bits of batter accompanying my fish was a sight for sore eyes. As usual, it was super greasy, it probably always has been, but the oil used was not old. Everything was cooked to par level. It isn't bad at all. Just bear in mind that this place is not fine dining. The tables and floor won't be immaculate, the condiments may go empty, but staff was pleasant and even came out to check on us a couple of times. read more

The fried fish is delicious--sometimes you just want to eat some Fried Fish from Long John's!!! I've never been disappointed with LJS, and the portions are always more than I can eat. Leaving this here because wow some of the service was bad. The food is alright but I just don't like how it feels as if nobody cares. This the result of crappy minimum wage and skyrocketing prices. I tried to give zero stars but it wouldn't let me. According to the door and google, they are supposed to close at 10 pm. However, they closed at 9:30 pm, the young man that worked 1 Jun at 9:30 pm closed the establishment 30 minutes early. All lights at long John silver was still on, but he refused to take our order. Actual rating would be around 3.5 stars. Since its Friday and I recently began only eating fish/seafood on fridays, I decided to try this place out since I didnt feel like going to a sit down place and whatnot. I will say I'm partial to LJS because there was one across the street growing up and I loved (and still do) the hushpuppies. I ordered the two fried fish fillets with the fried shrimp with a side of coleslaw and green beans. The fish and shrimp were breaded heavily and were delicious, though by the end the salt got to me. (I'd only get either the fish or the shrimp next time). The breading was crunchy, yet the fish was delicate and tasted pretty good. Same goes for the shrimp. I wasnt expecting much from the coleslaw, but I enjoyed it, yet can understand why some people wouldn't as it is a fast food joints Coleslaw. I will say that I personally think it was better than KFC slaw. The green beans were not edible. It was like they took then out of the can with all the water in them still and semi warmed them up, and served them. Pretty gross. If you like the crunchies that you get, I got a ton. I couldn't finish them because there were so many (and they were salty). Overall, I dont know if it was my hunger talking or childhood bias, but I enjoyed the majority of the meal. It's nothing to rave about, but if you have a hankering for some fried fish at a decent price, you could do worse. read more

She has a no care in the world attitude and when I received my food it was tossed around in the container. 1 star is too much, -5 is more appropriate. This was my 3rd visit and the second 2 of 3 where the order was absolutely incorrect. The drive thru staff did not understand the menu, were uncooperative and argumentative. In fact, none of them were wearing Covid-19 protection (masks or gloves) and the lady taking orders was losing her voice and appeared feverish. Looking through the window the floor was absolutely filthy. I tried to return my order and request a refund but the lady proceeded to tell me I deserved her "bad attitude" in return for mine. I promptly advised my back to stop payment, reported the unhealthy actions and conditions to the San Angelo health department & threw the meal into the trash. Next visit will be Long John Silvers website and the BBB. I am sorry I didn't visit the Yelp review page prior to my visit, I would have not visited this location again. I went to LJS today trying to Order a special I received through my email. When I drove through there were two women outside sitting down by the dumpster smoking. I waited 5 minutes before someone asked could they take my order. The woman's voice was gravelly and hard to hear much less understand through the speaker. I told her if the coupon and that I wanted fish. She asks how do you want that? I stated fried. She asks do you want chicken and fish? I said no, I want fish! If I want chicken I go to the chicken place, not the fish place. She asks again how do you want it? I told her again fried fish! The she tells me she isn't a mind reader and tells me to come to the window. By this time I've been in the drive through 12 minutes. I get to the window and again tells me she isn't a mind reader and doesn't know what I want. I'm thinking this is the weirdest experience ever at a drive through window. Eventually she asks what sides I want I tell her and request that the hush puppies are cooked just a bit longer so they are crispy. Then she tells me everything is already cooked and nothing she can do about it. I look at the clock in my car and it's now 5:23 and I asked how long has the food been sitting? She doesn't know, hands me back my debit card and says I'll get the manager. I sit for another 7 minutes and at 5:30 decide I don't want fish that has been sitting under lights for over 30 minutes and drive off. There hadn't been another customer in that time, a car drive up during my last 7 minutes. I suggest the regional manager hire people who need a job rather than keeping incompetent people who don't care, who don't wash their hands after smoking, wear face masks and gloves while working and people who can enunciate words so they are understood over the speaker at the drive through and are able to take an order. I used to order from this LJS every week however the last two times the food was stale and cold. It's going to be a long while before Ill visit again. read more

San Angelo Long John Silvers has progressively gotten worse!! I was hungry for seafood tonight December 1st, 2018 and decided to go to the drive thru! The girl immediately opened the window and said $11.02 as I approached the window and before I had even put my car in park!! As I leaned forward to get my wallet out she slammed the window shut and walked off! Why not give me an opportunity to get my money or card out before demanding payment? I had ordered cheese curds with my plate so it was going to take a few minutes for those to cook anyhow. Upon arriving at my apartment I noticed she had given me a few tartar sauce packets but no napkins or fork for my slaw. I noticed that I was missing two shrimp and two clumps of beer batter was obviously mistaken for shrimp! All was still ok until I discover a used bandaid under my second fish fillet!! For a Saurday night I was the only person at the store and in the drive thru so I was surprised that no one answered the phone when I called three consecutive times and no answer. The fourth and fifth time I called it was busy!! I got in my car, drove over there and pulled up to the drive thru. When the girl said order whenever you are ready. I told her I did already and I just found a dirty band aid in my plate and I wanted a refund!! She calmly said "please pull forward". The manager came to the window about one and a half minutes later. I showed her my plate and she said that couldn't belong to one of their employees because they wear gloves and are required to use blue bandaids as we did at HEB when I worked there. I told her I just moved into a new apartment and all that was there was two boxes and an inflatable bed. She asked for my receipt, I told her it was not given to me. She said since half the plate had been eaten she could not give me a full refund, I said "fine I just thought as a manager you needed to know"! She didn't really seem to care and I made a decision tonight that as disgusted as I was never to return to this restaurant!! I doubt it will make it to Lent of 2019!! read more

Our experience at your drive thru is San Angelo tx on Sherwood Way was much less than satisfactory. The young lady taking orders had no clue what she was doing. I made the order and had to repeat it three times. When I finally finished she did not tell me the and to just drive up. When we finally got to the window we had to give our order again because the one she had for us was totally wrong. She got the drink order wrong and we corrected her AGAIN. When the order finally came we had to ask for three items that were missing plus ask for the drink again. I asked for all sauces and got three. We got home my wife's order was totally wrong and so was her drink. We normally go to your facility once or twice a week.. Not likely to happen again anytime soon read more

We should have checked the bag just like you do children things to make sure they do what they are supposed to. Also order two unsweet teas. When we got home we found out they were both sweet tea. We entered form the back and saw four employees outside in the back. They appeared to be smoking. Tried to call after got home to advise of our displeasure. They answered once and all you could hear was a lot of laughing in the background. Several other attempts were made and they never answered the phone. The napkins on the table had something soaked into them and dried, so we knew the tables had not been cleaned. We saw a roach crawl from the dining area into the kitchen. It appears that nothing has been bleached, sanitized, or cleaned since the building was constructed. The worst thing I saw was the huge amounts of mold piled up in the soda machine. We were given a free drink as part of a deal but decided to throw it out for fear of drinking out of this thing. Had not been to long John silver in quite awhile. My husband and stopped there today for lunch, we were looking forward to having a good lunch but, we were quite disappointed. I know that the fish has to be fried, but it was very very saturated in what looks like old grease , it was gross, the so called hush puppies looked like globs of fried grease . The cheese curds , well didn't look like or tasted like cheese curds. The food had no flavor whatsoever, all you tasted was grease. Oh, what?! I thought I'd reviewed this place. Alright, so we quickly learned after moving to San Angelo (because the Air Force likes to use its sense of humor in my personal life), that places are either 1) closed on Sundays or 2) close very early on Sundays. So, when we found ourselves hungry at 8:30pm on a Sunday, we knew our options were limited. We drove around until we settled on Long John Silvers. We went to the drive-thru and were waiting behind a pick-up truck who was placing an order. The very second we pulled up to place our order, they turned off the lights to the building, but left on the ones inside. Okayyyy... we waited. And waited. I finally said, "Helloooo?" Nothing. Then, as soon as the truck got their food and drove away, they turned off their lights completely as if to let us know they weren't going to help us. ALL they had to do was get on the little ordering intercom and let us know. These morons were so rude! We were--no joke--the only other car around besides the truck we were left waiting behind. We won't ever go here and wound up driving across the street to Whataburger. read more

We went to take advantage of the week special All You Can Eat fish/chicken for $7.99. My husband asked for fish only, he got 1 fish plank and 2 chicken. I got the same but I hadn't specified what I wanted so meh no problem. BUT when my husband went to get more fish they told him it would be an extra charge!! I took the receipt up and was going request they rering the whole thing up as 2 #7s, but the clerk checked with the manager who must have told him to just give me the fish cos he did and all was good. read more
