One of the Raspberry Cheesecakes -
    Ron M.

"GOING OUT FOR A CELEBRATION" A neighbor or ours had a Birthday last Saturday and we invited her out for Dinner to Celebrate. She chose Outback Steakhouse, which happens to be near us. 'Bret', my Wife's Maverick, is already to go - and so are we. We were greeted by the Hostess and shown to a booth. Kevin is our Server and we looked over their Drink Menu first. We LOVE their Bar Drinks and they have Cocktails all day, every day, for only 7-Bucks. My Wife chose their 'Boozy Cherry Limeade'; Black Cherry Mix w/Bacardi Lime & Sprite, and I went with the 'Wallaby Darned'; LaMarca Prosecco & Peaches. Linda is having Iced Tea. While we waited for our drinks we looked over the Menu. Linda Loves Outback for their 'Coconut Shrimp' and says it's the only thing she orders here, and that's what she is ordering this time - as is my Wife (she also LoVeS Coconut Shrimp). The 'Coconut Shrimp' is listed on their 'Aussie 3-Course Meal' consisting of 'Soup or Salad', choose 1-Main Entree with Side and a dessert of 'Cheesecake' with choice of topping. Pretty good deal. Linda and my Wife went with a Salad & Asparagus as the side - and Raspberry Cheesecake. I also am ordering from the 'Aussie 3-Course Meal', but went with the '6oz Sirloin' (med-rare) with Steakhouse Mac-n-Cheese and the Baked Potato Soup - also the Raspberry Cheesecake. Outback also brings you Fresh Baked Bread in a Loaf form with Soft Butter. I sliced off a couple slices, spread on the butter, which is Very Fluffy (love that), but the Bread itself seemed like it was a couple hours old just sitting around, but still had some good flavor - just not as fresh as you would think. Orders are in and our Drinks arrived. My Wife's 'Boozy Cherry Limeade' is really Cherried out, it is Cherrylicious. My 'Wallaby Darned' is Peached Out to the max - this is really good stuff - and the Alcohol is present making both a Very Tastylicious Cocktail. Soon our Salads and Soup arrived and they all look really good. My Baked Potato Soup does taste like you are enjoying a Baked Potato with just the right amount of flavor in every bite. Linda and my Wife enjoyed their Salads. Soon after we finished our first course, the Main Entrees arrived and they do look pretty good. The Coconut Shrimp is very impressive with the Golden Breading, served with an Orange Marmalade based dipping sauce (nice choice). The Presentation of this plate is Right-On. They both LoVeD their Coconut Shrimp, said it was very Tasty with just the Right Crunch - and that Marmalade Sauce makes it even better. I totally agree - my Wife let me have Two of hers and they are some of the Best Coconut Shrimp you could ever have, Tasty, Fresh and Perfectly Prepared. You get eight of these but my Wife received nine (extra is always a plus). The Asparagus is also some really good stuff (I had one of those also). My Sirloin Steak also looks impressive and is Med-Rare Perfect - but - it is kind-of overly seasoned for me, taking away the true flavoring of the Sirloin, which is also a little chewy - but very juicy. The Steakhouse Mac-n-Cheese is Fluffy (which is different than most places), but also on the dry side - would like a little more cheese on mine. Next up is the Dessert - and here comes our Raspberry Cheesecake. They all are a Very Nice Size with lots of Raspberry atop running down the sides - they didn't skimp on the topping and they didn't skimp on the size of the slice. We all agree that this Raspberry Cheesecake is Very Rich and Licious with strong Raspberry flavor - it's some Goooood Stufffff. Since it's Linda's Birthday, Outback offers a Free Dessert. Linda chose their "Tim Tam Brownie Cake"; layers of Chocolate Brownie, Peanut Butter & Chocolate Mousse topped with Caramel Sauce & Arnott's Tim Tam Cookies from Australia (and those cookies have the perfect crunch). We have had this before an it is a Very Rich & Creamy Delicious Dessert. Since we already had Dessert here, she chose to take it home - and we did - to our house to have a little later. Here's the catch having it 'To-Go'. They box it up differently than when serving it while you are there. Lets put it this way, it's like ordering from Ikea, taking it home and assembling it yourself. It doesn't change the taste any at all - it's still Rich & Creamyliciousness that one person along should not eat it all - it is meant to share - but it is still some Really Goooood Stufffff - it just doesn't look anything like what they serve in the Restaurant. Outback Steakhouse ROCKS on their Cocktails, Coconut Shrimp and their Desserts - but not their Steaks (not for me anyway). Next time we come here we are sitting at the Bar, ordering their Cocktails, Coconut Shrimp and Dessert of choice, especially their Tim-Tam - and sharing. Interacting with the Bartenders is always fun at any Restaurant. Service has always been excellent here and Kevin earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-and-beyond' the norm - and loved it.

Kind of going high on these stars for a chain but came here and...... please don't bash me for this, but ordered the steak sandwich. I cannot believe how good it was, I mean it the way it came wrapped in some kind of newspaper looking wrapper and as you remove it, cheese and all kinds of gooey things come dropping out but that flavor though! The fries were good as well. Had a margarita which was kind of on the light side, boo nanny to you bartenders, don't be so stingy. Service was decent as well as finding a parking place. Rest rooms were clean considering the restaurant was 3/4 filled.

Food and service were great. Enjoyed the new meatloaf, had a kick but was definitely a new favorite.

6oz Filet cooked medium rare, baked potato with a side Mac & Cheese. ( enough for 2/3 people)

I know you know yesterday was Valentine's Day, and it's a good day to take your "Better Half" (and…read moreyou know that's true) out for Dinner at one of her favorite places. "The Grill". That also sounds really good to me. We know The Grill will be busy, especially since Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday, so we left earlier than normal. Arrived, and a good number of cars were parked all around. Walked in, and the place is packed, with every bar stool and table taken. The Hostess said it will only be a few minutes for your table. In a couple of minutes, a table was available. After we were seated, more people arrived, but they also only had to wait a couple of minutes. The Grill has two bartenders working along with several servers, and a couple of employees cleaning up the tables when they become available. Our Server is Sophia, and she took our drink order. Two Jack-N-Cokes and waters. While we waited for our drinks, we looked over the menu. We kind of already know what we are going to order, and we did. My Wife is going with one of her usuals, their "Happy Hour Nachos" ($6.50), listed as 'Roasted Pork Nachos' on the main menu. Slow Roasted Pork, Chipotle Sauce, Tomatoes, Cilantro, Black Beans, Cheddar Cheese over lots of Fresh Chips with Green sliced Jalapenos on one side, and Red sliced Jalapenos throughout the plate. I am going with the "Baja Fish Tacos", Blackened Baja Fish with Chipotle Sauce, and pickled Slaw. Served with Guacamole, Rice, Black Beans, and double Corn Tortillas for three Tacos. We placed our order with Sophia when she served our drinks. Then we toasted to Valentine's Day, and us. The bartenders here make the Best Jack-N-Cokes around. They are really good, smoooooooth, and go down easy. While we waited for our food, The Grill became busier and busier, with more people waiting. Glad we came a little early. Sophia stopped by, as well as one of the Managers checking on us to see if we needed anything. Service here is always tops. Soon our food arrived, and my Wife's Roasted Pork Nachos were served the same as they always have been, piled up high and covering the entire plate, and I might add, very colorful. I Love the way they prepare the Baja Fish Tacos with a Huge chunk of perfectly grilled fish all by itself next to the Rice & Black Beans, a large scoop of Fresh Guacamole, and several Corn Tortillas for you to make your own, with Pickled Slaw to the side. Both dishes are a Beautiful Presentation of Deliciousness that you will find nowhere else. The Grill does it right. My Wife's Nachos have a lot of melted cheese oozing everywhere with lots of corn chips and several pounds of Roasted Pulled Pork. Well, okay, maybe not 'pounds', but there are a lot of large chunks throughout this dish. She said it is delicious and loving that Pulled Pork. She ate about half of it and will take the rest home for a meal that will be for both of us - you get a lot of food at The Grill. I cut off a long chunk of fish, spread their Chipotle Sauce on a couple of corn tortillas, then the fish, topping it off with rice & black beans, guacamole, and their pickled slaw. This Fish Taco is Deliciousness and more. The perfectly grilled Baja Fish has lots of flavor with just enough spice from the chipotle sauce. I made three of these, each a little different, and they all were very Tastylicious. Each Taco was so filled with goodies I could not fold it over, and I ate them more like a Tostada instead. Either way, they are The Best. I also have some fish left over that I ate with the remaining sides, adding that chipotle sauce to each bite. I ate all of mine, with no leftovers to take home. While we were enjoying our food, Sophia said that she would like to take a picture of us with my camera because we are a cute couple. Hey, I couldn't disagree with that, so she did. Flattery will get you everywhere. Thank You Sophia. Well, guess what? Sophia earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm, and a nice tip. We boxed up my Wife's leftovers and headed home, and The Grill was still busy as ever when we left. This was a Great way to enjoy a Valentine's Day Dinner.

They picked us up at our house, and off we went to TRH for some Great Steaks - and Peanuts. They also have one of the Best Bacon Cheeseburgers you will ever find. But last night was Steaks for everyone. When we arrived, the parking lot was packed with only a few spots left. Some people are waiting outside, while at least 30 are waiting inside. Bill checked in with the Hostess area, and our name was called in just a couple of minutes. Thanks to 'Call-Ahead'. We were shown to a large booth and began enjoying those Fresh Warm Rolls with their Soft Honey-Cinnamon & Regular Soft Butter. As everyone knows, these are the Best Rolls around. Our Server came over and took our drink order. I'm having a Long Island Iced Tea while Pam ordered a Sangria Margarita. Bill & my Wife ordered water with lemon. We enjoyed those Fresh Delicious Rolls while looking over the Menu. When our drinks arrived, we placed our order. Bill & Pam are having their "Dallas Filet"; their Filets are the most tender, lean Steak that melts in your mouth. Includes two sides, they ordered a Sweet Potato and a 'House Salad', Fresh Greens, Cheddar Cheese, Tomatoes, Hard Boiled Egg crumbles & Croutons, with dressing of your choice. My Wife and I are going with their "Steakhouse Filet Salad", Salad Greens drizzled with Italian Dressing, topped with Tender Filet Strips, Bleu Cheese crumbles, Bacon Bits, Red Onion, Tomatoes & Croutons. Served with dressing of choice. We both requested Ranch. My wife elected not to have the Bleu Cheese Crumbles. Orders are in, and we enjoyed a second basket of those Fresh Warm Delicious Rolls. My Long Island Iced Tea is really good, and Pam said she loves her Sangria Margarita. Soon, Bill & Pam's House Salads arrived, and they look delicious. Texas Roadhouse makes the Best House Salad in town. TRH is packed, but when someone has a Birthday, the Staff still takes time to sing you their version of Happy Birthday. Soon after their House Salads were finished, out food arrived. The 'Filets' are prepared perfectly and looks Tastylicious. Our 'Steakhouse Salads' are a Beautiful Presentation of Deliciousness. The Filet Strips are also prepared perfectly, are Tenderlylicious and Flavorful. The Salad is Fresh, Crisp, and loaded with lots of goodies. I finished all of mine, and my Wife took almost half of hers home. Nancy orders this most of the time, and I do once in a while. Bill & Pam enjoyed their Filets and also took some home. When we left, TRH was still packed with over 20 people waiting for a table. It's Wednesday night, and TRH is packed. That tells you right there that this is the place to go for a Steak, or anything else on their menu. It's all good stuff. We all went back to our house for dessert. My Wife made her first-ever "Peanut Butter Pie", served with Reese's Peanut Butter Ice Cream. This pie was Richlyliciousness and loaded with Soft Peanut Butter flavor. My Wife really loves this pie, and I also. Just wish that Restaurants offered this on their Dessert Menu.

We were recently in town visiting family and wanted to eat before we left town to go home. The well-known place we used to eat now closes on Sundays. That's their loss because we've declared the Dun Bar our new Sunday lunch spot when we're in town. Thelma was our server and she was just delightful. This is probably the most hole in the wall place I've ever given full stars. Don't get me wrong, I love a hole in the wall, but sometimes the food in a hole in the wall is a little boring. Like this food, it was so simple, chicken fried steaks, grilled chicken breast, a Thanksgiving lunch on Sundays, side salads, humble sides... but it's all so absolutely ridiculously GOOD. We started with the large plate of onion rings (which is $7.50, btw, you won't find that anywhere else) and my sister lost her mind about them. lol For our entrees we had two chicken fried steak plates (different sides) and a grilled chicken plate. The gravy is served on the side, family style, and it was probably one of the best gravys I've ever had. It's not just flour and water, it tasted more complex like it had broth in it as well. Somehow with the modest price of these very flavorful dishes, they still give you free dessert. Very generous. I typically hate carrot cake, but this cake was moist and really good. It was almost like a spice cake, very well done. Do not sleep on this place. The surroundings are run down, the motel behind it has seen better days, but the food is legit and the kindness can't be beat. If you go on a Sunday, ask for Thelma and tell her the girls from Fort Worth say hi.
