The location is maybe not the best, but the dining experience, with James as my waiter? It was awesome! The dish I had was superbly cooked, I enjoyed their "carciofi"! And it was delicious, from the noodles, to the chicken, to the sauce, even the artichokes... They were awesome! The only thing I might change would be the bread. But bread is an easy thing to substitute. Along with my meal, I had a glass of red wine, and for dessert I experienced their tiramisu. With James, the service was awesome! He was attentive, checked on me regularly, but didn't rush me. And, he had great advice on the foods to try and check out! The lobby where I was seated was almost empty when I arrived, as I came early... Around 6:30 PM. The large table was just leaving, leaving me to the dining area by myself. When I asked about it, James was kind enough to explain to me that many of the people were in the other two rooms where they had private parties going on. James was always there to make sure my needs were taken care of. He advised me on the best tasting wine, the various meals that were very popular, and made sure that I had everything I needed. The music atmosphere was not Italian, but rather something of the 60s, making me think I had gone back in time. Likewise, the prices were preferably affordable, priced much like in the 60s! In other words, I didn't pay an arm and a leg for my meal. It was well priced! AND the food was well worth it! I will dine here again! P. S. ... and I will insist on my waiter being "James"! After querying him I found he walked to the restaurant that day ... you could never tell it by his dress, and his kind demeanor, but I'm guessing that he's starting life over again. When I asked for his phone number to send him the link for this review, he said he didn't have a phone. So when you dine here, make sure that you ask for James to be your waiter, and tip him well! He works hard to make sure that you have a splendid visit, and you're ever need is taken care of. People like this need to be lifted up, and rewarded for their excellent service! read more

This place is the best of San Angelo. We recently moved back (I moved away in mid-80's). My parents had been mentioning this place and we went last night. Everything was wonderful! Tablecloths but not stuffy atmosphere and definitely not crazy prices. Food was lovely in presentation and taste. Seating was nicely spread apart so we could have a conversation. The bar is gorgeous and we may come back to just have a nice happy hour spot that is a bit more intimate. The service was on top of everything. We had several people taking care of us and it seemed very intentional. They knew what the other was doing. We had a lovely conversation with the brother of the owner who explained why we love this place so much - they are related to restaurants in the Dallas area that we absolutely love! This is the best restaurant that we have found in San Angelo. We will be back. read more

2/27/28 our small group of close friends met here for a birthday dinner. From the moment we walked to the time we left everything was perfect. With no dinner reservation, the staff and owner were all friendly, attentive and helpful with making dinner choices. They really were on their A-game! Our meals were nice portion sizes, well prepared, served hot and priced affordable. It was our first time here and we will definitely be back. Sunday was our "167th Month-i-versary" and we Celebrated. After Sunday School, several of us ate lunch at Luigi's Italian Restaurant & Bar. When we arrived, Luigi's had a long table set up for us. Aubrey is our server, and everyone placed their drink order while looking over the menu. When our drinks arrived, we ordered. My wife and I are ordering from their Kids Menu. She is having the "Kids Cheese Lasagna"; The name says it all, Cheese & Lasagna. I am having the "Spaghetti & Meatballs" (or as kids say, Pasketty, with Tomato Sauce. Luigi's also has their Buttery Bread Baskets all around the table for your enjoyment, with bowls of butter to add it you want. These Buttery Rolls are Butterylicious, and don't need any more butter - but you add more anyway because you can. They are fresh, warm, and melt in your mouth. It wasn't long before the food arrived, and the kids' portions were a nice size. Lots of Spaghetti with a couple of Meatballs covered in their sauce. My wife's Cheese Lasagna is a beautiful presentation with a nice amount of cheese atop the saucy lasagna. She said it was delicious, and I agreed because she let me have some. My Pasketty was also very tasty. The Mighty-Meaty-Meatballs were Meatballiciousness - great flavor - and just enough for lunch. The Buttery Bread goes very well with the Cheese Lasagna & Pasketty. I also took a picture of the Pizza that was shared by another couple. We ordered a Pizza last time we were here, and it was Pizzalicious. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered, and Aubrey earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm. Luigi's is always a good place to enjoy Italianliciousness in San Angelo. I have dined at this establishment twice now. To be transparent, my first experience was a 2 star. However, today I enjoyed myself. The service was quick and efficient. My biggest complaint with my first visit was the food, but today I was impressed with the food. Although not a 5 star meal it did the job and left me satisfied. The feel of the restaurant is slightly outdated but overall cleanly. I enjoyed the bread they brought as an appetizer despite its slight cardboard taste. The bathrooms are small but they do have a lock if you ever need to hide from annoying dinner companions. I wouldn't come here if you're looking for a fine dining experience. Luigi's is a good spot if you're looking for a simple and sufficient Italian meal experience. The meal began with a basket of bread rolls that weren't anything special, but they definitely aroused my appetite. The servers promptly brought out another basket once the first one was finished which was much appreciated. For my main course, I had the chicken parm which, again, wasn't anything special, but it was both delicious and enjoyable. For me, a restaurant always earns extra points when the water refills come often, and that was certainly the case with Luigi's. This should speak to the quality of their service which, I would say, was the highlight of the dinner. I'm glad I was able to share this experience with some of my best buds, and we even had a special performance between courses from my friend, Zach. Would dine here again! read more

They provided some of the most polite, and attentive service that I've had recently. I'm from out of town and I stopped in to pick up a pizza to-go a few days ago. Unfortunately, there was some miscommunication on my order and I got the wrong item. (It was wonderful, by the way). I phoned them when I got home and noticed the mistake, and they said to come back in and they'd make it right...and they DID, two days later! He was not going to charge me, but I paid him most of what it would have been - mistakes happen, and they made it right! What an amazing experience!!!! To start, the complimentary garlic rolls are to die for, we got the marinara and vodka sauce for dipping and I would've been happy if that was all I had for dinner. I ordered the special with lasagna and Alfredo pasta which was delicious and too big for me to finish so I gladly took my leftovers home. The flavors were fresh and I was full but didn't feel bloated after my meal which has happened when I've had Italian food at other restaurants. My friend had the cannelloni's and she loved them! First of all our waitress was just awesome! Very attentive and sweet lady! When you walk in it's very clean and pretty. Seating is very comfortable and spacious. I was impressed with the food especially the ravioli with meatballs. It was very tasty and enough for one. It was very standard Italian food like chicken Alfredo, ravioli, marinara sauce etc. They serve you garlic bread rolls before the meal so that was nice. The portions were good for the price and everything came out clean, pretty, hot and overall really good. The waitress even gave us some mushrooms plate on the house and the sauce with it was good. The tiramisu dessert was so delicious too. Not too sweet, not too dry just great. The parking is good and the place is very clean and pretty. New place in town that truly impressed us. Great prices for good portions of food and wine. Smaller wine list I wish was larger. Vast menu of food items from pasta to seafood, to pizza lasagna, calzones, stromboli, steaks, apps, pasta noodles and lots more. I lived in Italy all of 2019 mind you so my bar is set very high for truly good Italian food. I loved my veal cacciatore over veggies and my wife loved her chicken cacciatore over pasta as well. My 7-year-old crushed his spaghetti and meatballs plate. The appetizer sampler gets you a bit of everything. The stuffed mushrooms and broasted chicken wings were my favorite. I did not try the garlic rolls as I avoid all flour. Did not try the desserts sadly as I can't do dairy or flour so had to pass. Wife and kid loved both however. I really hope this place makes a big splash in the food scene here as we need more casual yet upscale dining spots like this for lunch and dinner, date nights, and group gatherings with this kind of Italian cuisine. Let me start with the good. The waitress was pleasant and friendly. And she was fairly quick, and checked on us regularly. The ambiance was quiet (we visited on a Sunday at lunch) and the place was about 1/3 full. The white linen tablecloths and plush seats were a nod to a more formal era, maybe their heyday. But I was completely underwhelmed with the food and value for what we got. We split the Luigi Combo that came with fettuccini Alfredo, lasagna and chicken parm. I ordered a side salad because nothing came with the $19.95 plate. What I got was a $3.50 plate of lettuce (see photo). No tomato, cucumber, croutons, nothing but lettuce with a few brown spots and I think shredded carrot. The garlic knot rolls (see photo) looked appetizing but I think they forgot the garlic. Just blah bread I'm not sure if these were complimentary, the menu listed them under appetizers for $3.50 but they weren't on our tab. The $2.95 side of marinara was cold (see photo). The fettuccini lacked a bit of salt but I could tell it was homemade pasta. The 4 bites worth of lasagna was ok as was the 4 bites worth of chicken parm that came on the plate. I don't think I'll try this place again. I think it rides it's reputation from years ago, the decor tells me it's been here awhile and is in need of a refresh both inside and on the menu. read more

Service was good. Restaurant is a little dated. Decorated as though it is formal with tablecloths (that turned out to be fabric backed vinyl), mirrors on the wall, and fabric covered chairs. There were stains on the fabric. We thought that the door on the street was the entrance but you actually enter through the rear of the building. The place was pretty dead. It was a Friday night between 5 and 6. That should have been our first clue. Most of the patrons were elderly. The food was incredibly bland. I had the chicken Marsala and the sauce had no flavor and smelled faintly like maple syrup. The chicken parm had a gluey breading with very little flavor. The spaghetti with meat sauce had a puddle of water in the bottom of the bowl which watered down the sauce. And, finally, the chicken Alfredo was just blah. I really wanted to like this place but it just wasn't good. Additionally, I think the water served for drinks was probably just tap water. It tasted bad. I wish the food had been better. read more

Not-so-bad food, but worst service ever -- I don't think I was *ever* rushed like this. We came to chill out after a busy day, ordered a dinner, and then the waiter (don't remember his name, so will call him Luigi) kept coming to us and asking us stupid questions every five minutes or so. One might imagine they were about to host a Cosa Nostra convention at 4 PM so they badly wanted to kick everybody out by 3:45 lest the mafia don were unhappy. (To the owner, what you are supposed to do in this case is put out a notice, "CLOSING FOR A PRIVATE EVENT AT...", and state the time. Even mafia dons have manners.) Imagine a 1980 New Yolk small Italian restaurant and this ambience is what you will experience. The servers are very friendly and courteous. I ordered the spaghetti since thats what you do at an Italian restaurant and it did not disappoint. I rate the sauce a 8.9, however, I did not ask if it was homemade so you will have to judge for yourself. Also the noodles were good. San Angelo is not known for good or even generally passable Italian food. Sadly, lowly Olive Garden was as good as it got until just a few years ago. Luigi's focuses on typical Americanized Italian dishes with limited uniqueness and variety, mostly standard fare red sauce and Alfredo dishes, chicken Marsala, cacciatore, a few veal dishes, etc. However, the quality of what they serve is heads and shoulders above their competitors. Their pasta is homemade and it clearly stands out against other local establishments. Their tomato sauce is quite good as well. We were pleasantly surprised by the lasagna, ravioli with meat balls, and spaghetti with meatballs. The garlic dinner rolls served before the meal were quite good as well. I've been to the other local "Italian" establishments including Napolis and Luigi's winds hands down from a taste and quality standpoint. Luigi's is my recommendation for Italian food if living in or passing through San Angelo. read more

Normally this is one of our favorite places with great food and ambiance. Tonight was not a great experience. First they had an Elvis impersonator singing so loudly we could not carry on a conversation at our table. Had we been seated closer we would have left - and in hindsight probably should have. The wait staff could barely take our order due to how loud the mic was turned up, we sent back drinks for very dirty glasses , my order had the wrong sauce, rolls were cold , house salad was primarily brown lettuce and overall just was not a good experience. We intentionally chose this place for the food and ambiance and tonight both were a big miss. If we come back we will make sure the Elvis guy or other acts are not there performing - totally ruined our experience. read more

First I want to say the waitress was AMAZING!! We were visiting and had a lots of question about the menu. She was informed and made some suggestions. My daughter got a pizza. The cheese was thick and gooey...the crust was perfect. I got a salad that I loved...fresh and mixed. I also got one of the baked dishes. Loved it. Fresh Vegis and the sauce was tasty.
