We stopped here as we were passing through town on Christmas Day. It was one of the few places open and there was a line out the door. None the less, the staff was pleasant and the line to be seated moved fairly quickly. Everyone was polite and friendly. The food was fresh and plentiful. The dining room and restroom were pretty clean considering we were there during a rush. They clearly were able to keep abreast of the chaos. Was it spotless? No, but it was not terrible messy either. Restaurant was very clean and wait staff constantly refilling drinks and taking away used plates etc. Food was fairly good and my husband got a steak which was included in the price. But lady at check in taking money had no clue what she was doing. We asked her if steak was included in price and she kept asking "what"? Steak? I don't know . . . I don't think we do that. Then she asked what we wanted to drink and we told her and she says hmm I think we have that (Coke Zero). It's over there. And pointed to drink bar." Have eaten at a few GC over the years. I have to say this one is probably one of the best. I am in town for work often, it's near the hotel. And I always enjoy the food. Everything is fresh and tastes great. The staff is always friendly and the line cooks have the food items well stocked and the biggest thing for me it's clean and they always seem to be practicing good food safety cleanliness wise. Service is always good. It's not a quite setting but to get a honest fresh meal at a good value it's good. I've never had a bad dining experience at this GC. They're a bunch of great people who convey through their service that they love taking care of their diners. You'll never hear "thank you" and "may I help you" spoken with more frequency or sincerity They have the best meatloaf in town and seem to be the only restaurant serving boiled cabbage (shoosh you snobs!). I like going there on those occassions when I'm uncertain what I want to eat because there's always something on the buffet that awakens my appetite. I honestly thought I saw a gentleman napping in the food trailer, before going in to dine yesterday. After having eaten we went back out to our vehicle and he was still there sleeping. Surely that cannot be sanitary. My son had run out of gas on his way driving down Houston Harte after work last night after midnight and we saw the same person exiting the trailer to piss in the parking lot. Since the restroom was occupied a sweet waitress named Laura stopped her lunch to bring us a chair so we could change our daughter. She also brought us a bag for our baby's soiled clothes. 1/26/18 6:25 p.m. Floors were filthy. Tables were not cleaned. The food areas were filthy. There were lots of kids running through the restaurant. They destroyed the dessert buffet. We complained to the manager, but nothing was done. If they don't enforce policy for under age 10 kids to have adult supervision, why do they post it? If parents don't control the kids, management should. Also the food was barely warm. I was visiting family in San Angelo and expected a much better experience. This location opened two weeks ago, so long lines but worth it. The buffet quality food was delicious. My only concern were that there was a lot of people coughing, employees dealing with food, customers about to get some food. In the search for a not horrible buffet in San Angelo, so far, you guys are winning. Good selection, generally fresh looking (and tasting) food, and the price is right. My only real complaint would be the music. Granted, this is the south and in general music options are country or country, but Golden Corral went a different route and blasts all the Jesus tunes you could ever want. Aside from not being a fan of this type of music; it's strange (though really funny) when you're in the bathroom listening to lyrics like "I want you inside of me, Jesus". Kind of felt like I was in a South Park episode. The chocolate fountain, as long as you try to block the images of how many people have probably put their fingers in it and then it recirculates, etc. meh, chocolate covered rice crispie treats (or are they cookies? ) are delicious. read more

We went to GC in the early evening of Thanksgiving this year. It was very, very crowded and we had to wait a few minutes to be seated. We were warmly greeted upon our arrival and the staff was working diligently to get people seated in a timely manner. We were seated in the area worked by Stephanie who was amazing. She had a smile and warm greeting for everyone in her area. She kept the tables clean, the drinks refilled and still managed to have a kind word for everyone. Even with all the people in the restaurant there wasn't much of a wait time for anything. Overall, if one couldn't be with family sitting down together for a homecooked meal, GC was a great option. Came here on a Saturday evening for the prime rib and we weren't disappointed. It really is all you can eat, and it really is good. The other items I tried were good as well. I enjoyed the fried chicken and the pot roast especially. The rolls and macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy are longtime standbys that I have to get at every Golden Corral I visit. This is a smaller GC than some, but there are still multiple options. The desserts are definitely worth having. The chocolate fountain and the cakes are real hits. I'm a sucker for soft serve so I have to always end the meal with that. We even took a cotton candy back to the hotel for a late night snack. Gross! We went for breakfast, and while the food was hot....it wasn't very good. My husband got a sausage link and said it tasted funny, it tasted funny because it wasn't pork sausage! It smelled like a dirty goat and I believe the sausage was made from goat meat, it was really strong and smelled like a goat farm. While I will eat goat, I like to know when I'm eating it...and I've never had a sausage link in my life that tasted like goat! I've been to many golden corrals, especially being from big cities, Dallas, TX and charlotte, nc. Was out visiting a friend and we decided to try this place out. The atmosphere is amazing. You can tell all the employees are genuinely nice and care for their customers. Seeing many repeated customers interact with waiters is really awesome company! The food was delicious and fresh! My husband and I go there once or twice a month and it is absolutely delicious. Just about anything you would want. I would like a better choice of baked fish, the one they serve has jalapenos on it, but overall it is wonderful and for the money you get everything you would want, salads, hot & cold foods, fruit, desserts and yummy vanilla ice cream!! Try it out you will like it. I have told many of it at the gym I go to and you can really make a healthy meal experience out of it (with the cheat of v.i.c. and little slice of carrot cake) so it won't hurt your waistline if you don't overindulge!!! He sampled quiet a bit, finishing off with a chocolate ice cream cone. I tried the meatloaf, tater tots (crispy!), and a chicken thigh, finishing with 2 slices of their plain cornbread.
