Two words: GREEN SAUCE. I don't know what exactly is in it, but i crave it more that I've been here and had it. I look forward to coming back to town to coming back for more tacos and green sauce. The chips and salsa is also good. I've tried a few things. I often get an app and take the mini tacos home for a different meal. It's a lot of food. Flew in last week and had lunch with a friend. I had the El Grande Burrito but with steak instead of ground beef. Super great, big and tasty. I was in San Angelo for graduation (online student) and a fellow student who lives in San Angelo said Mil Amores was amazing and I should give it a try while I was in town. Oh my gosh. This place is so freaking good, and it's not any kind of traditional Tex-Mex. And it's more than great food, it's fun! The management are nice, our server was delightful, very sweet. It's just a great vibe in there. I also saw a stage and I hope that meant they do live music. We had two people in wheelchairs and they were very accommodating. The food was just spectacular. If I lived here, I would go broke eating at Mil Amores. We didn't have a single thing that didn't blow us away, from queso flameado to the quesabirrias. Luckily my dad lives here so we can come back and visit... and hopefully eat here every time. lol read more

Great first experience at this newish place. We did wait for a good 30 minutes after arriving at 530 and getting seated right away. It was not yet super busy when we got there so that was surprising. By the time we left the place was getting busy for sure however. I was all in for trying the seafood molcajete or the molcajete fior as they call it here. It's massive and serves 2 to 3 easy. Beware though, the black sauce they serve it with in the bowl is hot! Spicy hot. Delicious menu item but it brings the heat! My wife and kiddo got the chicken enchilada plate and steak tacos trios respectively. Both finished almost there whole plate. My son loves corn vs flour tortillas so he was happy his plate came with the corn version. You get free house tortilla chips and a green and red salsa as well. Both good but we liked the red salsa a bit more. Staff are kind and prices are fair. Just need to work on those long wait times once you order. read more

"A NEW PLACE IN TOWN" My Lovely Wife and I went out for Dinner last night and she mentioned of a New Place in town that we need to try - "Mil Amores" Mexican Restaurant. They have been open since August 16th. In Spanish 'Mil Amores' means "A Thousand Loves" - and that's always a good thing. We arrived for a late dinner (to us anyway) and this place is packed - and it's HUGE inside and Wide Open with people waiting to be seated. We spotted a couple of seats at the Bar and the Hostess said we can sit there - and we did. As you know from my previous postings that we Love sitting at Restaurant Bars. It's not only closer to the Booze but you can chat with the Bartenders and get a good feel of the place. Vikki is our Bartender/Server. We looked over the Bar Menu and they have no Happy Hour or any Food Specials going. My Wife ordered a Miller Lite with a glass of ice and I'm going with one of my Favorite Beers - Blue Moon. Our Beers are served in the Bottles and they are Cold - we toasted to each other and enjoyed the smooooothness of a Cold Beer. We then looked over the Menu and they do have some good choices - with pictures (and that's always a plus). My Wife noticed their 'Quesadillas' and it looks really BIG. So, since this is our first time here - and we Love Quesadillas - we decided to give it a try. I didn't take a picture of the menu and I cannot find a good listing of their Menu on-line, but I do know what was in it (at least I hope I do) - So, here goes; "Fajita Quesadilla"; Choice of Meat (Beef, Chicken or Mixed), Bell Peppers (G&R), Onion, Cheese, served with Guacamole, Sour Cream & Pico de Gallo. Went with Fajita Beef. Not sure of all the ingredients in there, but this is what we know we had. My Wife said she will only have one Quesadilla (and I get the rest - I love my Wife). If needed, we can order something else. While waiting for our food we enjoyed those Cold Beers and looked around the place. They have Several TVs all over and some of them are Really BIG - with different shows on, mostly Sports. Even tho it's Wide Open, it is not noisy - that's nice - but then again, we are at the Bar, which is pretty much in the Front Center of the place. Soon we were served some complimentary Chips with Red & Green sauce - and the Green Sauce is Fluorescent Green - it seems to GLOW. These Chips are really good with a nice Snap to them and the taste of Corn. The Fluorescent Green Sauce is thin and really good (I hope my tongue is not glowing). The Red Sauce is in a Very Large Bowl and is Spicyliciousness with just the right amount of Spice. In fact, we both agree that this Red Sauce is the Best Red Sauce we have had at any Mexican Restaurant - and that's saying something. There is also a good amount of Chips in the basket and we almost ate all of them when our Quesadilla arrived - and it is just like the picture - HUGE. They use Large Tortillas here and it's also Thick with goodies inside with two containers of the sides. My Wife took one of the four, folded it over to take a bite. I added some of the Guac, Sour Cream & Pico de Gallo to one slice and took my bite. This is going to be one Sloppylicious Quesadilla because it drips - and the flavors inside are Tastyliciousness. The Fajita is seasoned 'Just-Rightlylicious' with lots of flavor from the other ingredients. This is Really Loaded and Flavorful. It's easier to eat folded over - it still drips because it's Huge and Packed with liciousness - a Perfeclty Balanced Quesadilla. I enjoyed the remaining three slices with some of the Spicy-Red & Fluorescent-Green Sauces and I might say that this is the Best Quesadilla we have ever had. We also finished off those Chips and about 90% of the Spicy-Red and all of the Fluorescent Green Sauce. We didn't need to order any more food - this was filling. In-between bites we chatted with Vikki, which has only been here a week and earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above & beyond' the norm - and loved it. She has a really nice smile and enjoys being a Bartender. Mil Amores has a pretty large staff and they are all very busy doing what they do - providing Great Service and Deliciousness to all the Customers. If you happen to know of one near you, check them out. These guys advertise margaritas for $2 during happy hour so we went there and ordered "house margaritas". We get the bill and they're $9 each... didn't argue because we thought we told them the wrong thing. On the way out I double checked the sign at the entrance and it said "house margaritas $2". Total scam artists at this place. It's a shame because the food and atmosphere were good, but we won't be back to give more money to dishonest people. read more

The food was excellent. The Chile Reno with its crisp coating was like those I grew up eating in New Mexico. Very good enchilada and the beans and rice were the best I've had in San Angelo. I ate the taco plate, it was okay if mediocre was bar set. The highlight of the evening was our server Evangeline. She was wearing a boot on her busted heel. No one was deported from kitchen tonight so there's that. It's been a couple of hours since we ate the there and I still don't have the hersey squirts! Not too shabby. Normally San Angelo Mexican food restaurants come with a cold serving of Montezuma's revenge for dessert, so thank you for that! Overall, it was a pleasant experience. I can't believe this place is not rated higher because first of all I have never heard of it and I've lived here since 1987. That's older than most people probably reviewing but let's get over that. My wife and I went there today when we were having my eyeglasses prepared at Eyemart express or whatever they are. The food was a tad bit salty I would rather add salt to my food, then have it over salted but I'm on the salt restricted diet so I expected that that was not a right dealbreaker. I know I'm getting salty when I go Out to the restaurant very good food by the way and I ordered the avocado deal which I've never heard of that was covered with queso, but wasn't covered with it you could case it was on the plate. The service was outstanding. I mean that they were so friendly so very nice staff. Several people come by and check on us. The tea glasses were a little too small because I drink tea like most people breathe air. I got these little teeny glasses now I've been a good part. Margarita or something like that but I take glass note very nice glasses though even though they were short. But I do have to commend the staff. I really don't go in for ambience, but I thought it was pretty nice. I mean it. It was a great place. The outside could've been nicer since they can't move the outside of the building. The inside was great. I would like to thank the entire staff everyone that works there and I actually got to see a gentleman that I hadn't seen in a while. His name was Logan. He was not my waiter or anything like that, but he recognized me from a previous establishment and I recognized him even though I was having my eyeglasses fixed it the place across the street. My waiter was great and so is the entire establishment one gentleman come by and I think he was the manager so is everything good and I said yeah I'm just kind of confused without my glasses. This place amazed us! We always drive by here and finally went to check it out. This is a beautiful large space Mexican restaurant and once you step inside it's like a majestically tropical ambiance. A bunch of large tv and projector screens football. Service is quick, drinks are great and unique menu, and the food is hands down the best. You also get unlimited delicious salsa and avocado sour cream dip! I grew up in California and lived all over the states from Florida to Hawaii and this is amazing Mexican food. They also do a pretty cool rave whistle and parade for birthdays. Two nights in a row here and coming back tomorrow! read more

Definitely the worst Mexican food in San Angelo. I will say, however, that the chips were good and the ?white? Sauce was too. The salsa had too much cilantro. But for me, any cilantro is too much. It had little flavor. The hamburger meat tasted old. The enchilada tasted old that contained the aforementioned hamburger meat. And the smothered Sopapilla was disgusting. It was soggy and contained the same old hamburger meat. Beans were nothing like other refried beans in San Angelo. They tasted like bacon grease. I ate about 3-5 bites of my food and that was it. And I can eat just about anything. They did remove the cost from our ticket and offered to send something home with us. But we did not accept their offer for take out. The guacamole was 2 outta 10. Diet Pepsi was great. Service was decent, although I got the wrong food, so I can't comment on the battered chili relleno. Be wise, and go to your regular Mexican haunt instead of Mil Amores. Our waitress was spectacular. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and engaging. That is where it pretty much stopped for us. I ordered the burrito Loco and it tasted like beef bourguignon, a French dish that is made with wine and cooked for a very long time. Which in and of itself isn't bad however I was just expecting a simple Carne Asada type burrito. This was way too saucy for me and the entire bottom of the burrito was soaked. My husband got the some sort of Verde burrito and his was so incredibly spicy(they did warn you of this in the menu) and there was some sort of taste in there that we couldn't pinpoint, but it too was like a gravy. Overall, I just was not impressed. There are way too many items on that menu. Reduce your offerings to 10 to 12 signature dishes that are going to stun everyone when they come in. My wife and I moved to San Angelo 2 years ago, from El Paso. Living there you acquire a certain style, and you develop a craving for good Mexican food. It's just part of you, and the culture of El Paso. We eaten at many Mexican restaurants here in Angelo. Even with many being good, none hit the mark that we look for. My wife's high school friend went out to eat. Her friend (also from El Paso) took her to Mil Amores, and my wife raved about it. So yesterday my wife and I went to eat there. Well I was at home, again. They now have to rename this establishment, 1002 Loves. After dinner we told my sister about this place. So again, we went and ate there tonight. Again another name change to 1004 Loves. We had a good talk with the owner Jorge, and asked about the Chili Rellenos. He sent us home us home with some to try. They are perfect. This is my #1 place in San Angelo for Mexican food. read more

The building is nice and vibrant with tv's along the walls with nice lighting all around. The dining area is all one open area that isn't sectioned off anywhere. The food was very visually pleasing but was both under temperature and pretty disappointing as far as flavor and consistency. I ordered cheese enchiladas with refried beans and rice. The rice was not typical for our area and had the consistency of sticky rice, all whilst having little flavor. The refried beans were excellent barring their low temperature. The enchiladas were super disappointing, they were also cold (along with the entire plate) but were so hard on the bottom I couldn't cut them with a fork. The service was ok, with the waiter being efficient but a language barrier made ordering a slight chore, but not a real obstacle, just had to repeat a few times. Overall it's alright, space is lively but the food just didn't satisfy at all. Prices were fair. But there is better Mexican food in San Angelo all around. read more

As always service and food was amazing. Our waitress Annalise was very sweet and attentive. One of the best servers we have had.

Food was great (though they did originally get my beans wrong then just scrapped it off my plate leaving refried residue on the back of my tortilla) and my waitress was incredible. Loved the atmosphere and had a blast Untilllll, one of the bar attendees came to MY TABLE handed me a shot and said this is this last one , I was thinking wow this place is great they even gave me a complimentary shot and I even shook his hand. Now when the bill came I see I was charged $10 for it ! Now I don't mind paying for something I asked for or was sold but this was never discussed or talked about AT ALL. I told my waitress she went back to check in on it, came back to me and told me the bar associate said we discussed it and he said he was selling the shot. A blatant bald faced lie so I asked for manager and for the bar employee but I guess he didn't want to come over and say that same thing while I was there. Don't understand lying but it's a bad look and kinda dampened an otherwise good experience. Manager offered to comp it but I simply asked to give that money for the shot to my waitress for tip. Had dinner tonight here for the first time. The best chili relleno I've had in a long time. Tender chili, just the right hot level, nice filling, uniform and tasty crust, excellent sauce. Amazing atmosphere! I absolutely loved our visit. We ordered the chicken flautas, chicken fajitas, and some margaritas. Everything was a 10/10. Great portions and tasty authentic food. They also had some live music, which was great. I do say, it can get a little loud, but we didn't mind. Overall, we love Mil Amores, and definitely will be back soon!
