I went to the 'NEW' LJS in Weatherford (rebuilt in old location) before Bible study. I ordered thru the app to pick up at 4:40, hoping to avoid the crowds that I've been seeing and hearing about. Parking lot was full and drive thru wrapped around building anyway. I specified extra crumbs and 4 tarter sauces on my order. They got the crumbs. Apparently kitchen did their part but, whoever bagged it up didn't include tarter much less a fork or napkins. Check your orders if you order in advance. The food was yummy and employees super nice.

Loved it! It's been a long time since I've eaten at a LJS. I really like the flavor of their fried fish. I suppose the flavor is really the batter. I had a 2 piece combo. It came with 2 pieces of fried fish, 2 hush puppies a side (I had coleslaw) and a drink. I really enjoyed my meal. With this much fried food - don't think I'll be here weekly, but maybe monthly :)

2 fish meal and clams. Tasty!

Gives you just what you expect - hot, crispy fish in tempura batter. No, it ain't fancy, but it sure hits the spot when I want some.

Every employee from the ladies that greeted and seated us, to Dante who waited and served us were an absolute pleasure in fact, from what we could tell, every employee there just seemed happy to be of service. But when we got there & the 5 of us got seated the waitress informed us that they were out of the Monte Cristo. HOW could you be out of a sandwich that has so many ingredients that you can purchase at any grocery store? Not only that but when our grilled salmon was served it was not lying on a bed of rice as usual & it was served to all 3 of us with no comment or explanation given. I had to ask about it & was told that they ran out of rice & were cooking up more that would be ready in about 30 minutes. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!! It appeared that the kitchen was being poorly managed and the wait staff had not been trained to deal with situations like these. We should have been offered a rain check on both the sandwich & the salmon or at least had it deducted from our final bill. We go to Cheddars frequently & have never encountered such a poor experience before. Thank goodness the croissants & cheese bites were delicious as usual. However the unavailability of the Monte Cristo was a big disappointment & our grandson ordered a cheeseburger instead, which he ate only half of. I sincerely hope that the management corrects these issues before our return. As a side note, our salmon which we had ordered med-rare came out medium to well-done, but we ate it anyway. In the past when we have ordered our salmon med-rare it was served cooked correctly. And a side of glazed carrots was served cold which I sent back & had reheated. I don't know if Cheddars is under new management or if it was just a bad night in the kitchen. The one bright spot was our waitress, Julietta, who was training a new employee, but was pleasant & efficient with our food service. Unfortunately, she had not been trained in how to deal with dissatisfied customers. A manager should have been called over to talk with us. Like I said, we eat at Cheddars frequently & this one experience will not dissuade us from returning, but I felt that someone should know about the bad experience we had in hopes that the problems will be corrected. This place is busy and packed but offers an ocean vibe without the ocean view. They still had decorations set up for Christmas which was over the top lovely festive. Even though it was a cool 52 degrees outside, the patio was covered and had heaters that offered plenty of warmth. Beers were cold - food was hot! We started with Hawaiian roll ham and cheese sliders- the same kind you tailgate with but BETTER! I opted for the Southern Chicken which was a 3 piece breast, drumstick, and thigh on top of a mound of waffle fries, bread and pickles, perfectly complimented with a grilled fresh jalapeño. The chicken was a little dry but had so much flavor. My husband had the Shrimp Cocktail that came with a tequila shot on the side (bonus for me..)! It is not spicy at all so if you like heat- ask for your hot sauce of choice on the side. We were here for about 3 hours and the regulars remained as new patrons consistently walked in. When coming with a large group, know that this is a seat yourself establishment and tables are all busy- plan ahead. FINS is worth the drive from Fort Worth. Come one, come all!

In addition to the food, they offer gluten-free beers and cider. Service was excellent and our server was knowledgeable about food preparation (in terms of allergies). The food is good but I find it extremely rich. The onion rings are fried in a thick batter. The gluten-free gravy tastes amazingly like "regular" gravy. It's really nice to have multiple gluten-free dessert options, even if we rarely have room for dessert. I recommend that you make reservations for holidays when they have specials or if you think it would be busy (ex: St. Patrick's Day). After this visit, I did get extremely sick for about 24 hours after eating here. It might have been the richness of the food not agreeing with me or it might have been something else.

Food The entrées and sides were the highlight of the visit -- well‑prepared, flavorful, and worth the price. *Garlic Caper Salmon -- ***** ($22.00) Perfectly cooked, great balance of flavors. *Blackened Rainbow Trout -- ***** ($20.00) Seasoned well, cooked just right. *Iced Tea -- **** ($2.99) solid, nothing to complain about. *Banana Pudding -- **** ($8.00) Tasty, comforting dessert. *Bread Pudding -- *** ($9.00) Decent, but not as strong as the other dishes. *Service & Atmosphere This is where things fell short. The service felt detached, as if the waitress was distracted or simply going through the motions. The overall vibe in the restaurant -- felt unusually downcast, which affected the dining experience. *Would I Return? I would absolutely visit this franchise again, because the food is worth it. But returning to the Burleson location specifically is questionable based on the atmosphere and service during this visit.
