I love this park. There's really not a lot to it, but I find it to be just right. There is a big gorgeous lake you can paddle boat and canoe on, and also fish on. Some hiking trails are also available. There are a few pavilion picnic areas scattered around the park as well as other picnic tables that are unsheltered. My favorite thing to do at this park is grab a big blanket and some chairs to relax on and go chill in the grassy area surrounding the lake. It's beautiful!! Pack a picnic lunch and you're set! Usually the park is pretty quiet unless there is large party in the sheltered area. That can get noisy. All-in-all though I truly love this relaxation station spot in Louisville!

What a cute, CLEAN park. I went there over the weekend to find the park busy, but large enough where you don't feel like you are invading other people's space. We went there to fish but had no luck! However, I really want to go back to try again, maybe bring a picnic basket (they have picnic tables all around) and our dogs. There were a few families there enjoying the lake by fishing, kayaking, and even paddleboarding. There are a couple entries into the lake where you could easily slip into a kayak and go. We entered an address provided through a site into our GPS but it didn't take us to the entrance....it took us past the entrace. Just look for the Long Run Park sign and head on in. You can't miss it!

    Not bad eh?

Be advised it is only maybe 3ft at deepest, rocks on bottom, and occasional waters naked. You know, nature stuff. Crawdads abound, and are fun to hunt. Only caveat is during dry spells the water can become less than savory. Toxic even. So be advised.

Located in the highlands/Cherokee portion of the city of Louisville. I stopped by this park the other day with my wife and 4th horn daughter who is 18 months old. We had planned to play on there small playground but she fell asleep so we Chelsea out the scenery instead. They have lots of water that's ankle high and lots of rock that allows you to walk out in and get in the water. It also a few small trails that surround the park that lets you see yeh park from several angles. The park includes seven benches on the banks of the water for viewing pleasure. They also have a giant pavilion that can be rented out. Which looks like at one point was very impressive. Now it's not upkept and filled with graffiti. It's honestly the only eye sore here. Hopefully they clean it up. Overall cool place that looks like it has 3 different parking lots for different entry points. Although the water is low enough and there is a bough rocks to easily walk this small park and get to any entrance. We had a nice visit here and I look for art to coming back with my other kids and enjoying the exploring and playground.

There are plenty of spots for fishing but some of them you will need to take a short hike down a gravel road. If you bring a wagon make sure it has bigger wheels but probably best to carry everything to make it easier. There is a fishing dock as well that's pretty big and most definitely is shareable with a few groups. The hiking trail that extends around to the dam is a fun walk since it goes in and out of wooded covering. Makes it great for sunny days as well. The playground is nice and maybe small to moderate size. There are BBQ stands to use and picnic tables. There are bathrooms but not very quick to get to from most parts of the park so keep that in mind. Great place to kayak as well! Great views and since the lake is narrow it makes it feel more like a river to go through. Super fun place! Glad to see them doing more work on it Only criticism is that there is lots of trash and even though it's the patrons fault, the park could do a better job at cleaning it up. Watch your little ones so they don't pick up pokey fish hooks or broken bottles.

Chapel Lake Park increasingly has two problems that diminish its appeal and safety. First, visitors…read morefishing from the grassy bank around the lake or sitting at benches near the canoe launch pad often leave trash on the ground. On any given day, you can see plastic bottles, plastic cups and straws, snack wrappers, food and bait cartons, plastic and paper bags, and the like carelessly thrown down on the ground instead of placed in trash cans that are available. Some of this trash winds up in the lake, which cannot be good for the fish, turtles, and frogs. Sometimes people leave their food trash (food cartons, cups, plastic bottles, half-eaten fast food) on the picnic tables by the little playground instead of simply discarding the junk in the trash can that is right by the playground. The other growing issue is rude kids on motorized scooters and motorized bikes traveling too fast around the park's paved trail. On June 2, 2026, two boys, both maybe 12 or 13 years old, were zooming on the path easily twice as fast as a normal bike can go, one of them angry at the other and screaming "mother f____er" at the other. This profanity could easily be heard at the little playground where small children and parents were. As this angry kid passed an older man walking on the trail, he shouted something like "You don't know what this is about, so don't look at me, a__hole!" The older man had not said a single word to this boy. These two boys left the park about 20 minutes later and went to the Crystal Springs subdivision off New Chapel Road. They both live in that neighborhood, so they can readily return to Chapel Lake Park, unsupervised and profane, to ruin the park experience for others.
