The appetizers in this place are amazing: I love the takoyaki and this pancake thing, i forgot what its called. This place is really decent, however, the service is horrible. My friends and i asked for the receipt and the women, who is also the manager of the place, told us to hold on. And well we did for 20-30 minutes. And when we finally got the check after asking for the 3rd time, we realized they did not add in the dessert we ordered, so we told the manager. She did not say thank you or im sorry. I dont care much about that, however when we left she said "finally! Ugh they are leaving." In chinese like i dont understand. The food here was okay. The salmon tattaki was the best thing we had. Also ordered some rolls, sashimi salad, and some regular sushi (for which the salmon sushi quality was not the best). I've had plenty of great ramen and I've had plenty of bad ramen. This place falls very solidly in the middle. While I usually don't write middle of the road reviews, I've seldom had middle of the road ramen. It's usually amazing god-sent comfort or an utter disappointment because you expected the heavenly intoxication that I previously mentioned. No in betweens, except here. I love coming here to eat because it is so close to home! Some of the staple food I always order is the Gyu Don, which is fatty beef rice, and their fries. Their sashimi is also quite fresh. Their menu changed up a lot since when they first opened. I actually like their menu a lot more before they changed it. Food: Kick Ass Fries- awesome! must get! It comes with 2 sauces- Wasabi Mayo and Chili. I prefer the Wasabi Mayo over the Chili. It's pretty hard to eat fries with the Chili since the fries are too thin and some are not fried enough to hold the chili. Sweet Potato Fries with Avocado Whip- The first time I ordered this, I got a good amount of portion. BUT the second time I ordered this, I felt ripped off. I get a tiny little wooden box like how they put a single sushi handroll in. Ever since I got that, I never ordered it again. Not sure how they are with the sizes now. Takoyaki Balls- I'm not a big fan of these since no place can beat St Mark's area for these. Sushi/Sashimi- Not out of this world but okay-ish if you are in the mood of everything. I always wanted to try this place because their menu sounds so much like an izakaya in suburban Tokyo (not central Tokyo). The menu is very creative and I think they have right approach to their food. I tried the black sesame ramen. The presentation was so good that it looks like coming out of a food magazine in Japan. The soup is also great. In my opinion, they need serious improvement in their noodle though. There are good ramen noodle suppliers in the tri-state area. I strongly think they should stop using their current noodle and make it more authentic ramen with Japanese style noodle. When I found this place on Yelp, I was excited that there was a Japanese restaurant similar to those in St Mark's in Brooklyn. We went on a Friday night and we were quickly seated. We ordered the takoyaki, katsudon, and chili fries. I gotta admit that the takoyaki was very good. The outside was crispy and the inside was soft and deliciousssss. The katsudon was alright and the fries were okay. But the service here absolutely SUCKS. The servers look as if they didn't want us to be here or smth. When we wanted to order more food from the menu after already ordering, our waiter sighed at us and quickly left. We had some problems with splitting the check and before we were even able to figure it out, the waiter tried to snatch it away from our table...uhh like aren't you supposed to wait until we hand it over to you? read more

Many of my friends rave about this place. Of course I had to drag my bestfriend with me here before she went back to college. We came here at 9PM last night . We got seated immediately once we walked in. It was pretty empty. The waiter didn't give us as much time to look at the menu I would say about less than 5 mins. Anywho. Me and my bestfriend ordered the Miso Ramen, Katsu Don, Stuffed Squid and Pork Gyoza. The Ramen came first before the appetizers which I found weird. However the stuffed squid and pork gyoza came a few mins after. Last came the Katsu Don. The stuffed squid was ok but not bad however it was not what I expected I definitely expected something way better. Just squid stuffed with imitation crab meat and grilled. It's really not worth $9. The Pork Gyoza was good or maybe I just love Gyoza haha. The Miso Ramen was a huge disappointment for me. It was bland it didn't had no taste to it. The noodles was way too soft. There was only 3 pieces of meat. The corn on it was can corn. Extremely disapointed. My bestfriend said the Katsu Don was meh and would never order it again it was not salty and didn't taste what she expected. This place here is slightly dim but not dim to the point you can't see anything. It's pretty relaxing. The decor here is pretty cute. Just like the ones in east village. This place isn't a authentic japanese restaurant sorry to ruin it for you guys. It's own by chinese people and the chefs are chinese too. Sorry to ruin it. The service here was hmmm. Cute spot but nothing special. Food is par. Everyone keeps saying how great the stuffed squid is...but it's just okay. It is a calamari stuffed with seaweed and faux crab meat. Unless you like artificial crab stix, don't order it. The sushi was good. Raw salmon was fresh. My friend had teriyaki chicken and that was good too. Overall, it's an average sushi joint. Wait staff were friendly. There were a lot of young 20 somethings in the restaurant. It won't be a spot I must go back to, but would if I were in the area. I've had good and bad experiences here. Dinner can get really packed sometimes and it's a small restaurant so you don't get much space. Lunch is usually empty. Their cooked food is really good. I recommend the stuffed squid. Their menu is more unique than most sushi place in Brooklyn. Their sushi, ironically, is not very good. It doesn't taste very fresh and their eel is very fishy and not good quality. So they really lost point on the sushi. I've ordered sushi platters from here in the past but never came in for a sit-down dinner. My boyfriend and I decided to try it out on a Saturday night. The interior is dim and small, but a little cozy. We immediately ordered all of the suggested dishes on Yelp: chicken Nagoya lollipops, the salmon feast, stuffed squid, and a "poke" like bowl over rice. Everything was so good and came out super quickly! The chicken lollipops were crispy and juicy; the squid was stuffed with the imitation crab meat but was quite flavorful. The salmon feast tasted fresh and was a good variation of rolls, sashimi, salad, and a seared piece of salmon. The "poke" bowl was my favorite. It came with cubed seafood over seasoned rice with a sauce to drizzle over. Overall, everything not only came quickly and expeditiously but was so good. The service was hit-or-miss: some waiters were friendly while another was a little brash, but hey, we don't come here for the service. Still, would absolutely come back! read more
