The food was so good that we didn't realize until we were paying. I could've shown them the picture I took, but I guess next time will pay more attention. This place offers a variety of appetizers, entrées, rolls, sushi, sashimi, and dessert. Prices are also very reasonable compared to other sushi places in New York City. I walked in and saw the place was clean and well kept. The lighting was dark giving a nice aestheic. I ordered a sushi boat which was an absolute steal for its price. I used to come here every time I hang out with friends. We like how there are a lot of cooked roll options. Compared to other sushi places on 86st, we appreciate how their rice is the right texture and ingredients are well balanced with the amount of rice. In the past year or so I've been going to Wasabi once every 1-2 weeks with family instead. We always order the small love boat with two dragon rolls and one spider roll. It comes with 20 pieces of sushi which is usually some mix of salmon, yellowtail, eel, shrimp, masago, tuna, etc. You also get soup or salad per person at your table. It's a little too much food for 3, but we're happy about stuffing ourselves every now and then. We like how the food is fresh, clean, not too oily or salty, service is fast and attentive (especially with tea refills). If we eat as a family of 4 we still get the small boat and just order more things on the side. We don't like how the large love boat just comes with additional sashimi. It's definitely a great deal, but we prefer sushi/rolls. At $55 for a small love boat and $80 for a large love boat, it's such a steal especially when Chinese fast casuals on 86st are like ~$15 per person with lots of msg. We've been trying some of their ice cream lately and it's a surprise. It's not too sweet and there's solid Asian flavors. They do a good job with the freezer because the ice cream always comes out soft and fluffy, very rarely icy. Family favorites are red bean, matcha, and ube. I like how the red bean is cream forward with gentle red bean earthiness. Matcha is a bit bitter but stronger than many other options out there. Ube has coconut flavor too which gives it more depth. I've tried black sesame too but it has the weakest flavor of them all. Not saying you can't taste the earthiness, but you have to pay close attention. The forward creamy flavor is more apparent in red bean. Also just realized how they no longer have the $2.5 lunch special rolls. I remember ordering multiple of them once when going on a road trip to eat in the car. Oh what a great deal that was too. Without that, the prices here are still really worth it. Very unassuming outpost in Bensonhurst in Deep South Brooklyn: I've tried sushi in other places around this borough and they were underwhelming compared to better restaurants in Manhattan. We came around 4pm on the weekend for a late lunch, and they were almost empty. We ordered the golden dragon roll, the dragon roll, the yellowtail sushi and eel a la carte. We also tried the half dozen baked oysters for an appetizer. This place definitely defied my expectations: everything we ordered was fresh and delicious; I was pleasantly surprised how flavorful the baked oysters turned out. They also served hot tea with our meal which was complimentary and a welcome addition. The service was friendly and prompt and overall we had a wonderful experience. The taste and quality of their sushi rivals many of the best sushi restaurants I've tried in Nyc. I'm already looking forward to our next visit to try other items on their menu. Order couple party trays for new year eve dinner.. Called in advanced for 6:15pm pick up. Got there at 6pm, the lady said they are making it now. I notices they have lots of order on the table, and lots of phone orders. A little 15 mins later, I went back in to check to see if my order is ready, still wasn't ready. That's why I call way ahead, knowing they will be busy. But my order wasn't ready till 6:45pm. But this scallop does not taste good and it looks like the dried scallop that I can buy from the supermarket. The salmon was okay, the yellowtail and Uni was not as good as I thought.
