Over the last few years, I have known I needed to get a new roof, yet the funds weren't there. I had several roofing companies come out to my home for bids over a span of 4 years. 0ne company only did a satellite inspection of my roof, others came and inspected my attic, yet never went onto my roof, and 3 performed a full in person inspection in my attic and on my roof. I ended up choosing Roof and Nails for many reasons. David was my sales representative and first contact with this company, and he was very thorough in his inspection and in helping me understand all the steps this company would take in providing a great quality roof. Other companies also thoroughly explained the process, yet I feel Roof & Nails provides great quality, more protection, at an affordable rate. Through this entire process and before getting my new roof , I have watched how neighbors on both sides and across the street have received new roofs, yet they weren't given the superior quality I ended up getting and they paid the same or more for a 20 yr roof than my now 50 year roof. The material was dropped off on a Thursday and work started a few days later. At this point, Johnathan was my contact person for this project. Communication was great and he took care of everything. Johnathan has a professional crew who are great, hardworking and respectful. They also cleaned up very well afterwards. I have documented pictures of each step in putting together my roof. They even permanently added four OSHA compliant safety lifeline anchors for any future roof-related workers to use. None of my neighbors received these anchors with their new roofs. Last, yet not least, I feel I have come to know David and Johnathan better as individuals. They are good, honest, and down-to-earth family guys. I can't say that of all the companies I interacted with. This is something I considered when choosing a company. How are they as people, how do they treat their employees? This fact may not be important to others, yet It's important to me. I am confident I made the best choice in hiring Roof & Nail Company to take care of my roofing needs.They gave me a superior quality roof at a fair, not overinflated, price. The price was about right, they came out quickly and finished the job in about 4 days. The PM said everything was cleaned and the crew left. I went outside to check and found over 100 roofing nails scattered around my entire house. I used my own rolling magnet to get as many as I could, asked the PM to send a crew back and they did. After the 2nd pass by the crew, I took my magnet bar again and found another 20+ nails. I called the PM again, they sent someone again and I thought it was done. 3 months later I just stepped on a half inch roofing nail, and had to get a tetanus shot because of the laziness / low quality clean up.

Even though the crew made good on ALL of the problems *they created* during the process, it was owner Ben's behavior that leaves me at a loss for words. During the consult Ben was cordial and informative. It was an easy choice as we had seen his work around the neighborhood. But wow, when he returned to start the job, he was a completely different man. Rude and cold. It was clear that all he cared about was lining his pockets and we were just another job for him. A roof tear off and replacement is no joke! He was difficult with all of the problems his crew created. Wrong gutters, broken garage light, mess everywhere and a leak during a rain storm that the crew hadn't tarped for even though I warned them! After completion we had another major leak due to incorrect flashing. Ben was incredibly difficult and sour with us when we reached out to him. I will never know why the stars didn't line up for us. We bought a new roof and in return we got vitriol directed at us for problems we didn't create. Nice roof, though. No stars should be given.

During the process, Elements discovered--and showed us--that nearly all our roof decking (the plywood sheet layer) was warped and needed to be replaced. So, we ended up paying nearly twice as much as originally quoted. (Initial inspections never find this level of "uh oh." It would have happened with any other roofer.) Things we liked/appreciated: 1) Quick and thorough responses to our questions - especially detailed questions that helped me compare one bid with another; 2) Ease of reaching and communicating with Jessica, the Operations Manager, who worked with us to schedule our job; 3) Quick and courteous responses from Ben, as well as excellent communication between Ben and the work crew; 4) Ben's final walk-through with us was on time and thorough. To consider: Elements involved multiple team members, which sometimes was great and other times resulted in crossed wires. They had to reschedule our initial inspection, and sadly we didn't speak the same language as the inspector who arrived on the revised date. (The written report was clear and thorough, though.) All in all, replacing a roof is a stressful act of trust for the homeowner. Elements did a solid job for us.
