I really tried to do my homework when looking for a roofer. When I called I got JESS. I told her all of the issues I was having and we weren't sure it was even my roof. She gave me suggestions and really cared about me getting resolve. When I discovered it really MIGHT be my roof, I called PW roofing back bcuz Jess was genuinely helpful. She sent out one of the owners Stan. What an AWESOME group of people! He spent time talking to me and figuring out the issue and it ended up being my gutters! Even tho they don't do gutters, he took the time to take pics and set me up with people he knows that are trust worthy and do a very good job. He didn't try to sell me waterfront property in Arizona! He was just HONEST & told me the TRUTH. I had a great roof and even tho they couldn't help me right now, he referred me to a GOOD company. He even took pictures and sent them the important info. Stan made sure my roof and attic space were good and he even did a couple very NICE things to make sure there would be no further dmg if the rain came..... At least until the gutters guys could come out. Then he just packed up and left. VERY KIND an and honest man with a lot of integrity and Kind energy. I would refer Pacific West Roofing to anyone. IF ur looking for honesty and genuine concern for ur property, call these guys. They won't try to sell you something you DONT need and they look out for you like your part of their family. These guys are really great. We had a new roof put on this spring by Pacific West Roofing. They are a solid company who has great customer service and will pay attention to the details. During the bidding process, Phil hopped on our roof, took measurements, video, and then ran the math on our ventilation to make sure he had a full understanding our needs before providing us a quote. They answered all our questions and were attentive to our needs. Most the other companies I got bids from based their estimates off simply eyeballing the roof. The install went great and they even had somebody on site to QC the process the entire way. They are not the cheapest, but I would say their pricing is very fair and they provide really great value for the level of craftsmanship and customer service you receive. Besides, you really don't want to cut corners when it comes to the roof on your home. We've had well above average rainfall this winter, and I have been up in the attic many times and our roof is holding up great. I got a bid, made a $9,700 down payment. My carport project went sideways and had to cancel the repairs. No repairs to be done. Roof project never got on the calendar. 1 yr and 5 months later, they will only refund $3916.06. Their emails keep bouncing, they don't want to resolve this issue, just keep the easy money. I purchased a home that had extensive roof work done by Pacific West in late 2018. Pacific West Roofing completed almost $30,000 of roof work for a sick 98 year old man and it's my opinion that they may have taken advantage of the situation by over billing for inferior work. The attached pictures are of Pacific West Roofings work that is less than 2 years old. They replace all of the support lumber (entire ceiling and everything above it when they replaced the roof). This is where the pool is forming. After billing the 98 year old man $30,000 we now have a massive pool of 3"deep water on top of the roof that has to grow to almost 4" deep before it dumps off the side of the house and saturates the siding, doors and windows. The pool stays on the our roof until it evaporates ! There is no way for it to roll off. This was bad enough yet there's also an area of edge flashing that was completely un-nailed and warped plywood leaving gaps for rodents to enter. Who knows what other problems I'm missing. Last but not least - the original invoice calls out items that were never installed. I talked to the owners of Pacific West Roofing to try and find a solution and was told "too bad" the owner authorized everything. I reviewed the quote and talked to the children of the previous owner and they are extremely upset with Pacific West Roofing for performing sub par work. If you have had any work done by this company I highly recommend you get a home inspector to review every inch of the project to make sure you didn't get the same slap shot work my house did. I'll keep pushing and hopefully Pacific West Roofing will step up and do the right thing. So far - they've avoided my calls for weeks and finally told me to take a hike - no repairs would be made. The owners will try and "explain" this situation yet there is no excuse for this garbage work, the $30,000 bill, the misleading invoice and outright lies. I cannot say enough about the wonderful help provided to me and my condo association by Stan Robinson, owner of Pacific West Roofing. Two units in one of our 50+-year-old four flat-roofed buildings had leaks near their chimneys, and one roofing company claimed we needed a new roof for $55,000. I wanted another opinion, so I called a decades-long contractor friend who told me Stan was the best flat roofer in Oregon. Out of the goodness of his heart, Stan visited the condo complex in 2023 and quickly determined we didn't need a $55,000 roof, but we did need urgent chimney repairs on all four of our buildings - work we soon put out for bid to chimney companies and had done, ending the leaks. Stan also gave us lifespan estimates on all four of our roofs, and we paid him a small fee for that, without him asking for it. We then hired him - as low bidder - to do about $3,000 of minor repairs on one roof. Stan doesn't even re-roof our kind of roof - torchdown - but continued to provide valuable (and free) advice even after we opted not to hire his company for a more expensive PVC roof on another of our buildings, the one with a roof most in need of replacement. He serves on an industry association committee that sets standards for the roofing industry. He guided us away from fly-by-night roofing companies and gave me excellent recommendations for companies that do torchdown - which was best, which was worst, which was the best compromise between price and quality. Over more than a year, Stan has provided me with hours of free advice, and I have come to consider him a friend and trusted adviser. He has extensive knowledge of the roofing industry and many of the players - those who do quality work and those he says drive around in macho trucks but don't know what they are doing. We called 3 roofing companies to get an estimate. Pacific West Roofing was the only company that called us back the same day. An appointment was made and to our surprise the owner of the company was the one who arrived to measure our roof. Very nice and polite. Answered all our questions and was not scared off by our very scary chimney to roof nightmare. 5 days later Todd (the owner) brought the estimate out in folder with copies of certificate of accreditation, copy of current liability insurance and current copy of liability insurance (which I had already look up online). Permit was pulled and taped to the house for the city inspector. He and crew arrived on the scheduled day and time and began tearing the old roof off. Once all the sealant and multiple old flashing repairs were peeled off the chimney Todd contacted Cascade Sheet Metal to come out and replace the old flashing (which was customized for our chimney). His crew was polite and made sure my home was cleaned up daily before they left. They were on time every day and had their own generator to power their tools. We just had our roof replaced by PAC West. From the quote, to the follow up, to the paperwork, to the front office, to Stan and Brent who attended to every detail this was an extremely positive experience. PAC west was not my first choice when it came to the bid price as I had bids from 4 other companies, and the they were not the highest nor the lowest, but of all the bids and sales reps I talked to they were the most down to earth and honest! Their bids were extremely detailed, their email communications swift, their front office staff was courteous. When it came to scheduling we had to push our job out a month due to other construction in our home and Brent was easy to work with. Given the size of our roof, Brent and Stan were on site daily, they both made sure we knew what was going on and if an issue arose, which inevitably it did, they were out here ASAP to deal with it. In every construction job you would be naive to think as issue won't arise, however it is how one deals with it and makes the situation a positive one! Turns he'd worked on our house with the previous owners and remembered exactly what he'd done (this job was for something completely new). We had a few other companies come out before Pacific West Roofing, and none of them would actually get on the roof to look at where we thought the problem might be. PWR were the only ones that got up there and agreed with us where the leak might be coming from. He discussed our options at length, after inspection, he even suggested we could probably get a few more years on our existing roof. Pacific West Roofing was not the low bid, they were not the high bid. They were classically in the middle. The crew were great and friendly, they did tear off and had installed 2/3rds of the roof on the first day. The second day, actually a few hours, they finished the roof and all the extra flashing. Stan from Pacific West Roofing spent the time with me at the start of the process, going over all of the little details that would really make my new roof pop! The crew was very pleasant and conscientious. The job site was always clean and orderly while they were here and in evening when they were not here. We recently had two skylights replaced on our roof. Cost of the project was ~$1200. Their scheduling service and technical installation was fine...no issues here. My issue however, is the unsightly cosmetic outcome of their work when viewed from inside of the house; ragged drywall pieces/edges at the base of the skylight window...some even encroaching onto the skylight itself. I called PWR to notify them & request interior cleanup/touchup and was adamantly told this was not something they will do (apparently the 'cleanup' claim in their job scope only refers to the outside area). So in addition to a $1200 bill for this project, I'm going to now need to pay someone else to correct the interior residual as a result of their work. Again, their technical installation of the skylights appear to be fine. But I'm very unsatisfied/frustrated they were unwilling to go the 'last mile' with respect to finishing all aspects of this project and fully serving a customer. read more

I was unaware of Pacific West Roofing when I had my roof replaced last year. I ended up hiring one of the big roofing companies in Oregon (perhaps the largest). If I could go back in time, I would have gotten a proposal from Pacific West, and probably hired them. The roofing company I used had so much volume that my project was a hardly blip on their radar. The queue of the projects in their pipeline required that my project get done fast, regardless of the quality. Sure enough, quality suffered and problems arose. The construction defects attorney and the roof consulting specialist recommended that I have Stan from Pacific West come take a look and provide some input on the remedy. Before I launch into detail about my exceptional experience with Pacific West Roofing let me upfront say I would not hesitate at all to use Pacific West Roofing again. I could not recommend Pacific West Roofing any higher - you won't be disappointed! In July 2013 I had a friend stay with us who happens to be an architect. We had purchased our first home in 2012 and had noticed that the upstairs attic areas really heat up in the summer and that heat was permeating throughout our master bedroom making it impossible to cool. He suggested we contact a few companies and get quotes to have the attic properly vented and thought it would be about $1,500 worth of work. As members of Angie's List, we scheduled 5 top-rated roofing/ventilation companies to come out to inspect and provide quotes. Mr. Stan Robinson of Pacific West Roofing was by chance the first company we had scheduled. He initially looked in our attic and then walked the roof to inspect. His report back to us was to be quite honest frightening and unexpected. Besides the ventilation issues - our flat roof systems on the back of our house were failing due to many factors including substandard materials used, improper ventilation/insulation and not following building codes or manufactures recommendations for shingles etc. These conditions were not caught by our home inspector - although they easily should have been. Obviously, we were unsure what to make of this diagnosis and did not know if they were trying to up-sell their services (quote was roughly $12,000 as opposed to thinking it was merely a $1,500 expense). I spoke to my architect friend and he suggested we have the other companies out to have them look at the roof - but not tell them anything besides needing the attic vented - let them discover the problems on their own. All the other companies discovered the conditions within 5 minutes - which confirmed Mr. Robinson's diagnosis. After about 3 weeks of reviewing proposals and several repair methodologies with my friend we narrowed it down to 2 companies. Some companies gave us promises/warranties/strategies they could not keep or would not work, others did not understand the problem in its entirety and others simply threw out a price that was way too low to be taken seriously (cheap comes out expensive). It ended up being no contest to whom we chose after we dug deeper. First of all Mr. Robinson understood flat roofing systems (specifically ventilation and insulation challenges involved with them) better than any other company we dealt with. Secondly - he was willing to talk directly to my architect friend and then adapt his plans accordingly. No other company was willing to do that. In addition, he was the ONLY contractor willing to write a letter for us to provide our attorney that we had retained detailing the extensive problems and violations with the roof. Also, and perhaps the most important, I felt from the beginning that Pacific West Roofing was the only company that I trusted to do the work on my home. This defect letter proved instrumental in consort with other documents in obtaining a full settlement agreement against the firm who did the house remodel about 10 years ago - along with our negligent home inspector. We got very lucky - we were within 9 days of being out of the statute of limitations and being on the hook for the total cost ourselves. Due to the slow moving wheel of the legal system this process took about 2 months - and each time we neared our start date on the roof repair - we had to postpone it (at least 3 times) - and each time Pacific West Roofing worked with us to accommodate that. We finally started the repair work in Mid-November and could not be any happier with the results and the professionalism of Pacific West Roofing. Mr. Robinson is a great partner to have in your corner. He answered many (he would probably say if pressed way too many) e-mails that we sent asking for clarifications or adjustments or simply progress reports. He is truly an EXPERT whose passion for his work shows. As a side note - I would recommend for any home purchase to have a professional roofing company such as Pacific West Roofing inspect the roof in addition to a home inspector. As I learned the hard way, home inspectors know a little about some things - but not anywhere near the knowledge of what a roofing company does. And since it's the one of the most expensive/complex systems to repair - the cost of having a professional inspect before purchase would be minimal. read more

We had our roof replaced by Pacific West Roofing at the recommendation of Stan Robinson, one of the owners, though he originally said we had a couple years before we really needed to do it. So we waited. We also had two of our skylights replaced with UV protection in them. I wish I would have had the other two replaced at the same time! I received a bid from this company, along with 3 other competitive bids. When I met to discuss the bid, in more detail, which was vastly different in approach from my previous bids, I was told that "we want your business even though this is not the approach that is recommended". Unlike the other companies, they did not perform a core sampling to find out how many layers were underneath (2); they were simply going the cheap and easy route and throw on another layer which would have been too heavy. Needless to say, I went with a company that I felt I could trust. It is an appallingly dishonest industry for the most part. In 2006, Stan with Pacific West installed WetSuit spray coating membrane on a commercial building in Forest Grove, OR, with a 10 year no-leak warranty. In 2010, I contacted Stan about large bubbles showing up on the roof and it looked like the coating was losing adhesion. Stan's response was: "don't worry, it's not leaking". Over the last 2 years I have contacted Stan numerous times about the coating failure and the manufacturer Neptune Coatings. I was promised by Stan and the manufacturer that they would fix the bubbles and remove some of the failed coating, which never happened. Since then, the roof coating failed, the roof is leaking, and I have 4 unhappy tenants in the building with interior damage. Very poor workmanship. Very dishonest. Had a leak and ceiling is damaged couldn't fix it in 4 trips and finally fixed almost 2 years since the work is done but refuse to address the damage made in the ceiling. Very deceptive in addressing issues. Inspected the damage and promised to fix it and sent the painter but after painter gave the bid refuse the fix it. So very very dishonest people. Even while replacing the roof they didn't secure the shingles bundle and fell in on the deck and frighten the entire family in the middle of the night. I have thought Matt was a honest man but he went quite after the issue started and the owners are very dishonest. Stan is just amazing. He really cares about doing a good job. He went way above and beyond the call of duty to help us find the source of water dripping onto the ceiling tiles in our small office. Stan had repaired a leak around the drains in the roof in May. In June when it got hot our tenants called and said there were new leaks that we figured were due to condensation. We were ready to go out of the country on vacation but called Stan to see what he could do. Stan determined it was not the roof but an HVAC problem so since we were gone he took it upon himself to call an HVAC company and schedule them to come out and take a look. He even told the HVAC company to bill him until he could get in touch with us! It was just amazing customer service. When the HVAC company didn't check out the problem to Stan's satisfaction he had them come back out. It is amazing to have someone go to that level of service when it isn't even a roofing problem!
