Were in the area and needed two last-minute items. Produce looked fresh and well-displayed. The prepared food did not look appealing at all. There was an unappetizing smell going on around the open "salad bar". And the prepared food was ridiculously expensive for what it was. The WORST was the cashier who looked desperately unhappy, and even after us thanking her (politely), did not respond. Even a grunt of acknowledgement would have been better. I like that Longo's had disinfectant wipes for their shopping carts long before the pandemic. There's tape on the floor by the cashiers to indicate where customers should begin lining up to pay. Everyone made sure to space out and not stand too close together. The cashier seemed irritable though. Maybe she's been working too much during this time. However, it doesn't excuse the fact that she was rude. After putting our items on the conveyer belt we moved down and stood by the payment machine. She told us to stand at the corner of where the groceries are bagged. Sure, we're supposed to be 6 feet apart but that makes it difficult to pay using the machine if we're so far apart. I wandered over to the bakery side and found out that they sell cake by the slice. This is a very good option when you don't want to eat a whole cake, by yourself, and want variety. This longos has been around for a long time and used to be my favourite grocery store. Now that there are new establishments close by, the store has become impossible to find parking during weekends. I often find myself finding parking far, far from the store and sometimes into the lazy boy parking lot. Inside the store, there is less traffic but often times, the prices are very expensive unless you are looking for an on sale item. Their beef is still excellent and better than their competition around. Because of their fresh produce, I do believe this store is still worth going to. The parking situation however, requires improvement. read more

If you plan to shop here, intend to come by yourself. I came here on a late Friday afternoon. It was not busy and there were no line ups. Even though Loblaws was out of my way, I decided to leave and do all my shopping at Loblaws since I was not allowed to enter the store with another family member. I was shopping with one other person and not with my entire family. The young greeter at the front entrance needs more training in handling this situation. I felt the young girl had a negative attitude and did not care to explain ...the only thing she said that one person can enter the store only. I mentioned I didn't about this policy and pointed at the sign behind her. I said that was not convenient as I feel and an exception could have been made for this one time since the store was not busy and to keep this in mind for future shopping visits. I usually come alone so I never knew this policy. But she was firm that we cannot enter together. I told her we will shop somewhere else. Of course she did not care! I DID see people in the parking lot walking together and separate as they walk into the store. It was obvious ....they knew to get around this rule. But I feel this is not a reasonable policy for grocery shopping. I understand if the store would turn away large groups of people shopping together. This was inconvenient. I feel the management at Longo's should review this store policy. read more

Have recently become a frequent visitor here due to all the ready made meals and hot bar options you can pick up. I can usually fill up the half sized boxes and it has never cost more than $10 which is awesome! Would recommend the tortellini pasta, meatloaf, and corn for sure! Lovely market in Toronto, kind of upscale market with lots of to go cooked meals. This is a good place to pick up a meal if you are on business travel and you are very close by. I have never seen so many to go cooked items. The bakery looked really good. I purchased some broccoli cheese soup and it was good. I'd go back and try the salad bar, it looked fabulous. read more

It amazes me that I frequent a number of stores in Markham and have never left a review. This Longo's is the closest one to me. I have been here often. I can't believe that I have never done a review... until now! For a while, this store had chicken and beef empanadas. I love empanadas so much. They could be my collective boyfriend if I could marry them in holy matrimony. Sadly, this store no longer offers them. I am hoping that it will reconsider. I come here for food that you typically don't find at a regular grocery store. All Longo's stores have hot foods. You can buy everything from pasta to veal sandwiches, and sit down in the food area to devour them. I was thrilled to see Schneiders meatless meatballs make a return in the frozen section. Recently, I talked about this item with my vegan friend, who made the recommendation years ago. I am not vegan, but they are yummy. I got sushi rolls, and a couple of different individual salads. For the latter, you can get two for $6. If you are too pooped to pack a lunch, these are great. The desserts section is amazing. I always salivate gawking at the tiramisu. The cashier staff are always nice and friendly. My visit last week continued to prove this fact. I like it here. There is plenty of parking in the lot. The store also has a Starbucks. I really like longos. I love how neat and tidy the store is, how fresh the produce is, how clean the floors are. I also like that there are a lot of adults working there. Older adults who have worked there for years . to me this means they pay a fair wage because those guys would probably move on if they didn't. I love how you can wander the produce aisle and ask anyone that works there how to tell if something is fresh, or when it came in, or tips and tricks for cooking and they can answer you. Even the teenagers. I've tried so many new things because of that. Parking here can be a real stress ball depending on where you choose to park. If you park by the door good luck trying to back out if its shopping rush hour time. They have a fairly big lot so you can find stress free parking, you just have to do some cardio to get it. :) Che,knout is great, it can be busy but usually there is someone there directing the. Chaos and you can get out pretty darned quick. Only downside- holy cow it can be pricy. Bit that being said, when things are on sale, its a great price and it make up for the $$$. My shopping experience was simply wow. At the meat and fish section, the expert was very knowledge with different cuts of beef and provide suggestions on what cooking method to go with which type of meat. Bonus is that if you don't want as much fat in the meat, they trim the fat out before weighting it on the scale. We originally intended to buy the Angus round eye beef that's advertised to be on sale on the flyers but ended up also buying Sirloin beef and Icelandic cod fillet. 2 thumbs up to the meat and fish section staff on Saturday evening. read more

I have been a faithful customer of Longo's since the 80's. I used to come here when there was a poultry farm next door and there were chickens walking around in the parking lot. A lot has changed in Markham since then but thank goodness Longo's has remained right where it always was. Not only that, but the very thing that kept me going back all those years ago is still the same. The staff at Longo's is the best! They are friendly, efficient and very hard working. You can see they take pride in what they are doing. That means a lot to me. Longo's produce is very fresh. They have a pretty good selection of organic produce. Their deli has great Italian cold cuts and cheeses. I have bought birthday cakes from their bakery and was very happy with the quality. The artisan breads are also delicious. My favourite is the olive walnut loaf. Longo's has unique products to try. I recently picked up some miniature sweet peppers from the deli section. They not only added colour to salads and appetizers but they tasted great. I've never seen these tear drop shaped peppers any where else. I've tried Longo's brand of fig, apple and walnut spread. It's great on crackers with cheese. They also do a spicy pineapple jelly and a cranberry port jelly that are great. Their sandwich counter and stone oven baked pizzas are very popular with the local lunch crowd. You can pick up a party tray for your next event. Their focaccia sandwiches are amazing. Being a huge fan of Starbucks, having a counter right by the entrance is a big plus for me. Overall, I love this location for its unique products, consistent quality and excellent service. 2.5 stars, but my review is strictly based on a limited experience. I will try more food from Longo's and re-evaluate this score with time. A colleague and I went for lunch to Longo's to their hot table counter. They also have a cold and warm lunch food bar where you help yourself and the food is charged by total weight. I had a veal sandwich. They provide a single layer of veal that is not crispy (because it's already saturated in tomato sauce) on a Calabrese bun. Toppings are included in the price, at $9, including tax. The sandwich had a good taste, but the peppers they used were not spicy enough for my liking. The sandwich was warmed in some sort of toaster oven by staff, but that made the outside of the bun toasted and crispy. In general, rather mediocre, but no major complaints. I will have to try something different next time... The pizza looked good. read more

This Longo's is a-ok. I find their layout and store very functional that makes a lot of sense. Longo's is more of a rustic higher-end grocery store. This one has a bakery, a sushi bar, hot lunches, chickens, pizzas, lots of cheese, deli counters, and more. Lots and lots of amenities, but you're definitely paying for it as I find that it is consistently about $2 more than other places such as No Frills or Walmart. That being said, what they offer is "organic" and "premium." We've gotten our steaks from here many times and I have to say they're definitely quality goods. The Starbucks here is not good. They don't accept promotions which is annoying af. I also find that the drinks aren't as great as compared to the Chapters one. I also find that the hot lunch bar is very expensive. It depends on the weight, but I find I'm always hitting the $10-15 mark even when I didn't get that much. Parking is stressful here as well. 3.25/5. There's nothing wrong with this place, but I'd prefer not go unless I want "premium" products. For the everyday ones I'd rather go to No Frills or T&T. read more

I use to go to longos downtown for a good yogurt breakfast with berries and granola. Nice to know there's a location here in Markham too! I like making my own giant salad and I don't know if it's the items I pick or what not but it's never over 7$ for a really big awesome salad! Some things here are over priced, but the service is excellent and the store is well organized and well stocked. It's not a quiet supermarket.. Fairly busy place actually. I just wish they wouldn't put the dining tables right by the door. It's horrible trying to eat with people walking past you ever few seconds opening the doors. read more

Too bad there isn't a Longos closer to home. Its either this one or the one further in east Markham. I didn't especially shopped here before until I was having a conversation with a friend and they always shop at Longos. I wondered why...the fruits and veggies are definitely way more fresh than the nearby less expensive grocery stores...You will not be disappointed in the freshness.. There's also quite a bit of variety as well in dry products. Some products that aren't usually seen in lower graded grocery stores.. like Barilla pasta sauce and etc... It's a clean place to shop for sure..and I simply love their deli section ...yummy fresh made sandwiches and sliced meat/cheese to perfection.....my fav. Montreal smoked beef on ciabatta.... Staff are nice and friendly.... longos card to accumulate points are a plus... All in all, a place I don't mind coming for fresh produce... read more

Came back here recently as I was in the area & they are carrying more vegan & vegetarian friendly foods which is great! I won't always have to go to Ambrosia to get my fix! Plus on Sundays they always do a sample table for one product & we got to try something called Bagel O's. Delicious & healthy snack that's like a bagel cream puff. But inside is cream cheese & herbs. I used to shop at this Longo's all the time when I worked in Markham, in fact, I remember shopping at the Markham store when it was on Woodbine just north of Steeles. This store is always clean and tidy, and I like the vast choices for takeout food, including the salad bar, sandwiches, hot food, etc. Like other Longo's locations it has a good but not great selection of organic food. The parking lot always seems packed, and yet the store does not, same thing I noticed at the Leaside location, would the store be busier with a larger parking lot? Lastly, Longos used to sell these great collapsible fabric grocery bins, but they have been out of stock every time I shop there. The one I have is getting old and is my favourite for light but bulky items, please bring them back Longo's! read more

The store itself is lacking in selection in some departments, is a bit expensive, and is often understaffed at the checkouts. However, the salad bar is fantastic, and offers a great way to get actually healthy food for lunch at a reasonable price. Raw veggies, quinoa salad, and chicken or salmon is my standard, with flax seeds and/or almonds, and a bit of red wine vinegar. There are tons of great combinations that will leave you feeling healthy and nourished. Watch out for some of the oilier salads as I'm not totally convinced they are using the healthiest oils and they often seem drenched in dressing. Also, there are fresh fruits, hard boiled eggs, and tons of other great things to eat. A vegetarian could also get a good, healthy meal here. read more

First time I bought a whole pizza, the taste was ok. 2nd time, after a month I bought a whole cheese pizza, and same thing. No taste. So if u r going for a slice, try anywhere else. Or grab a salad. Mr. Longo, you make goooooddd pizza! That's how that slogan goes right? Longo's pizza will actually surprise you, I work across the street and have tried several of their pizza selections, IMO their pizza is better than any chain pizzeria available in the suburbs. You can get it by the slice or call ahead and order a whole pie. Their pizza by the slice is way more innovative than your standard pizzeria, while they have your pepperoni, cheese and veggie variations they also come up with some pretty cool combinations. The best slice I've had here was a cheese-less pizza (GASP! I know cheese-less?! I too thought this was a sin until I had this bad boy) this particular variation was topped with figs, prosciutto, and what I believe was rapini (might have been another type of bitter green). The figs sweetness was balanced by the saltiness of the prosciutto and the bitterness of the rapini, all these toppings worked in perfect harmony to create an orgy of flavours the likes of which my palate has never seen. Their dough is quite good too; crispy and not too thin, it has a nice crunch with some solid chew. I highly recommend their pizza if you are looking for a quick meal, I believe Thursdays are pizza nights where you can get a 1 topping large for 6.99 (Great value! Way better than pizza pizza's walk in special). Enough about the pizza, this place also has an extensive hot-table but I have never liked any of their hot-table food, it is usually pretty mediocre. Their rotisserie chicken is probably the best of any grocery store it has a nice smoky flavour and the chickens are usually plump and juicy. (Wednesday is Chicken night, 6.99 for a 1kg chicken! the self loathing after I have polished off half the bird comes free of charge). They have a dinner special for 6.99 every night of the week for those of us too busy to prepare dinner. Their salad bar is also pretty extensive if you are looking for a lighter lunch. WARNING! This place does get pretty packed around lunch time due to the outpour of employees from the several businesses in the area. Other than that this place is a standard Longo's, fresh produce is always good and groceries are way over-priced. Double bonus for having a Starbucks located right inside! This Longos has a very helpful staff and an excellent selection of top notch fruits and vegetables It has developed though significant problems....Their pricing organization is terrible. The posted price may not be what it costs at the checkout and the economy size either by weight or by item may be more expensive than the smaller size. Yesterday I bought margarine and milk and when I got home found that both were past the best before date. Also they often are out of stock of 2 items that I buy fresh. When I've questioned them about it, they have said that they order it from central but it isn't delivered. I live close by and as I said it does have its positives. But I'd advise to be careful when shopping here. LONGOS....this needs fixing!!!! read more

If you want a quick lunch this Longo's has a great selection. You can hit the salad, cold or hot food bar where you fill your container with whatever you want (wicked spread). You can also grab a slice of 'Za or a veal/chicken sandwich or a panini or a hot container with lasagna and potatoes or hit the bin full of wraps and sandwiches. Gross Never again for the takeout food. Raw cubes posing as potato salad, without any flavour. Just raw cubes. Pasta salad, cooked Yay, but again no flavour. BBQ'ed chicken slimey and undercooked. Longo's is by far the most trustworthy and reliable grocery store of all in the GTA. I find that they go far out of their way to please customers. Occasionally (extremely rare), I've had a problem with a purchase and they really bend over backwards to make things right. I've been shopping at Longo's for over a decade and it always #1 for freshness (of meats and vegetables), customer service (way beyond the scales) and everyday value. What really sets them apart is the extent they will go to appease a customer. No other grocery store even comes close to their standards. read more

Bought some La Rocca Creative Cakes at your bakery at your Markham location yesterday for a birthday. They aren't cheap, they looked good but they tasted horrible. They were at least a week old.
