Longs in the heart of Hilo saved me. I needed some items ranging from socks to pain reliever- don't ask- and Longs came in clutch! I even found some souvenirs and snacks to take back home with me. Parking lot can be a bit "colorful" shall we say- so lock your car. Typical on this side of Hilo, but not horrible during daylight, not sure after the sun sets. This Long's at the Prince Kuhio mall is very convenient to visit when shopping nearby. I found the items I was looking for, with a little help. Then I went to check out. It was around 5 pm on a Sunday, and only self checkout was open. It wouldn't have been a problem, except the computer started going haywire after I scanned a few things, lighting up the "needs help" light and acting like I had bagged some things I hadn't scanned. Not true! I demanded justice (ha ha)! The self-checkout supervisor came over and helped straighten everything out, which I appreciated. I agree that Longs Drugstore has seen better days. Lack of staffing and the ones they have should be disciplined. Nalani in the pharmacy is the rudest person I've ever met. Trying to get assistance from her is like she's not there to help you because either she's too busy or too important. She needs to be retrained on customer service because she has none. read more

This may not be the nicest Longs but I came here out of convenience as I was need of water and tea for a long day on the road. And they had both, at prices that I expected (similar to or slightly better than a gas station). read more

As we stood browsing picture frames in the photo department, a very pleasant staff member greeted us and asked if we needed help. Super friendly photo department! These days, you can't even find anyone to help you if you had a question! We found the picture frames we wanted and went to check out. The cashier was very considerate is packing the picture frames so they don't get scratched. This store is the embodiment of Aloha spirit and totally deserves 5-stars! read more

If I could give this Longs/CVS no stars it would be a more accurate review. That being written it's a shame what CVS has done to the great name of Longs. It's filthy, the staff are either rude or just plain not helpful. We asked for an item that was kept behind a counter and after some huffs from the associates were told where to go. Surprise no one works in that area. We waited leaning over the counter to see the items available eventually after about 10 minutes we found someone to ask for assistance. The young woman walked away with out a word and a few minutes later someone came to get the item. It was carried up to the self checkout registers and handed to us to ring up our self. But it needed an ID verification so we had to wait for that to be done by the associate who walked away. Last visit was fine. At least they had adequate stock on one ofcthe specific sale item I was buying and wasn't a totally wasted trip. The other item was like downtown location sold out and only ordered for their next sale which they didn't know when. read more

Consultant LT the worst pharmacy experience I have ever had. Rude employees with seemingly no concern for the patients they service. Regularly forget to text when the Rx is ready. Occasionally does not fill the script and no contact to let the patient know they won't fill it. Regularly out of the medications their patients need. read more

Needed a small fan to help create my own breeze since the usual tradewinds have dwindled to nothing the last day or so. Got a perfect little solution...the Vornado personal fan. One in stock...and it was mine! I also got a spray bottle so I can spray my hot little toes and keep my feet cool at night. This Long's is the first one I've been to in Hilo. Do not go here. Tweakers dancing in front of the store, and an over reaching pill nazi for a pharmacist await you here. The store itself was alright but the pharmacist was rude, and condescending. This is the slowest pharmacy ever...I have waited over and hour for 2 antibiotics. These people are totally incompetent!

I USED to love this store. I would go all of the time because they offered items that were unique and good quality. However, this location has really gone down hill over the past few years where items in the Sunday ad are usually out of stock by Monday. I now call it the "rain check" store, for obvious reasons. I now go to the downtown location or sometimes drive to the Pahoa location to get the items that I need. It's so very sad! read more

I agree that Long's USED to be a great store. Since CVS took over it has gone downhill a great deal. Sloppy signs or missing sales signs in front of the items. No sales people around to help i the aisles. Recently I asked for Diet Mt. Dew and two sales clerks insisted they didn't carry it. I had just purchased it recently so I knew they were wrong. The following week I did in fact purchase the Diet Mt. Dew from their store. They don't even know their own merchandise! Today was the last straw in the low Long's has become. For weeks now, no bags at all are supplied - not even recyclable ones! It was pouring rain and I did not have any of my own bags and all my stuff got wet in the wagon. In addition, their bathroom, if not repaired by now, has been out of order for at least a year. When it was working, there was never any soap in there to wash your hands! It's just so sad! If you don't have to, don't go to this Long's. I love Long's but this one employs workers that know little to nothing of what's going on around them. The service was ridiculously slow only for them to be unable to help me. Sad but true. Try another Long's or if you are in the area Walgreens is a step up from here. read more

I use an injection-type medication that has been crystallizing in the vial. I asked the RPh (Registered Pharmacist) about it and she told ME to contact the manufacturer (I thought that was her job???). I called the manufacturer and learned the medication is only good for 27 days after the first use, not four months----which is the amount this pharmacy always dispenses. Strike two for the RPh. Then, the manufacturer told me not to use it if there are crystals in vial because I will have a bad reaction at the injection site...which I did on several occasions. That was strike three for Long's pharmacy. Unfortunately, my insurance for this med will only work with Long's (which is a whole other bone of contention --- but one battle at a time). So, if you need a pharmacy you can count on, go somewhere else. If you want talk-story with all your classmates, stop at Long's. read more

Cherie is the friendliest cashier . She always has a smile on her face and always giving her best when checking out the customers. Longs is lucky to have her. Some of the managers are grouchy . read more
