Apparently they have new computers and they still can't get it right! Seen about 8-10 people working and I've been over 50 minutes for the fucking worker to stop midway of filling my script to talk stories?! To the point where I was forced to snap at them! It's not my personality to say shit and be rude but they getting ridiculous!!!! Do your job while you're on company time! Sorry to the Braddah who I snapped at I would be excited too if I went Japan. It's still called Longs, but CVS is killing this place. Still, you don't have a lot of choice around here, this is your best bet for post cards, cheap sunglasses, cheap shoes (you can really destroy a pair of shoes on Big Island), the little screwdriver you need to fix eyeglasses, hair conditioner, and the sort of stuff TSA takes from you on the way here. However if you want snacks, go to 7-11, and if you want something to drink go to the Hilo farmer's market. read more

The only 24-hour Longs Drugs in Hilo. For almost a week staying in this side of the island we've come here almost every night not because we really need something but sometimes we created reasons to just come here because most of the staffs were so friendly! They helped us in our queries and patiently lead us to specific aisle for the things That we need to buy. Just like other LD this store almost has all the things you need for emergency. Just when I needed liners, lip sunscreen protection, cup noodles, pain reliever, late snacks, bottled juice drink, alkaline water and etc. Almost every night we come home at the hotel around 10pm and there are chances that restaurants are close and we ended up buying food here to save us for the night. If you're in or around Hilo and need something in the middle of the night, consider looking for this specific location and sure thing you can rely Longs Drugs. Just about everything from updating the website to getting shelves stocked. Pharmacy staff very helpful, appears a need for staffing up entire store. Store premises could use a good clean up. Heard from one of the staff that hiring is a problem and therefore customer service is slow and stocking shelves is a real problem. Also someone at corporate needs to fix the stupid robot....it seems to have no clue about refills or timing of refills. CVS texts serve only to exacerbate the misinformation. Their concept of forming a single line while checking out is failing miserably. The 20 minutes I've waiting in line, I must have heard the cashier yelling at customers "there's a line, you need to go back there" more than 10 times. Meanwhile, you've got confused customers who are trying to ship their UPS packaging looking clueless and another cashier yelling to get in line. Not sure if they're short staffed but have only 1 -2 cashiers open (slow AF) is the worst. The cashiers are rude as well. I'd rather drive to other longs than this nonsense. FYI, I've gone a few times within the months and it's the same slowness waiting in line. They could improve by removing the single line and training their workers to have customer service and create a sign for people with mailing packages. Nice downtown local drugstore. It has a drive through for pharmacy too. It's clean and it has many items that you need. The prices are reasonable. The service is nice and helpful. I recommend coming here. read more

I give this Longs 1 star because I can't give it zero. Longs was a company that took care of their staff and loved their customers but CVS changed all that. This particular store has no aloha spirit and the staff seems to be put out to come to work. The customers are not important enough to greet when arriving or thank when leaving. Self check out give them an excuse to do even less and give them no reason to interact whatsoever. The store look dirty and the merchandise is haphazardly placed with no shelf maintenance at all. Empty boxes piled in aisles creates possible trip hazards. It's a shame that it really isn't Longs by any other means other than the sign outside. Shameful what CVS thinks is quality read more

Yelp 100 Challenge 2018 - 9 I went to Longs Drugs or better known as CVS Pharmacy back in mainland for the first time ever in Hilo. I have been living in Hilo for almost 3 years now and I never actually had to come here for anything until recently. I had to buy something and I found that they were having a sale on the item I wished to purchase. Parking situation at this location was pretty weird but it is not that bad. Theres so many people and cars going in and out of this parking lot which may be chaotic at certain times during the day. Inside the store was very dull, didnt look as nice as CVS back home. Everything looked old and the items displayed on shelves look like I didnt want to purchase anything. Store is pretty big and they do sell some groceries (weird, I know) and people actually buy them. They have a pharmacy in the back too with a lot of people in line to get their medication. They were sold out for what I came for so I ended up leaving without buying anything but CVS back home is usually always priced high compared to other drug stores and Longs Drugs follows the same trend. I will probably never come here again because I never really need to but it may be convenient for people who needs things in emergency at late night since this location is open 24 hours. read more

Try going to Long's (CVS) in Hilo. Stand in a long line. Finally get to only one person in front of you. Then, they close the cashier, put the person in front of you to a new cashier station, and you just have to get in the back of another line and start all over. That's what happened to me on Sunday. I've used this pharmacy for as long as I can remember. Maybe even since I was in diapers! Now I have two keiki and this pharmacy has been letting me down more and more in the past year. One occasion I waited 45 minutes in their waiting area for my prescription. I was tired if waiting and had to wait in line again to go to the counter to check. And low and behold it was ready. In the past they used to call your name over the intercom when your prescription was ready. Not anymore I see, you just have to guess and take a chance and wait in line again. Another time I took my son to the ER in the early hours and I went to drop off a prescription at 3AM and the cashier said she couldn't tell me if that medicine was in stock and if I could wait 30 more minutes. He was sick with the flu I was exhausted and had to work that morning. I had no other option at that hour. It was frustrating. Another occasion I went to pick up a prescription and the cashier said it was just sent to them, however I can see on the website when my doctor sent it in and I tried to pick it up 3 hours after that and it still wasn't ready. Then they tell me I have to wait 15-20 minutes more for the prescription that got sent 3 hours prior. I ended up waiting more than 45 minutes. Also, the waiting area seems to get cleaned maybe once a month. The chairs and floors are disgusting but when you have to wait 30-45 minutes they are your only option for relief. I don't know if there was a change in management or the pharmacists just don't care on how their pharmacy is run, but after 20+ years of using this locations pharmacy I think it's time I take my family's prescriptions elsewhere. read more

I have used this pharmacy for the last 3 years and I'm not sure why I kept using them. Maybe I was hoping it would get better since they are open 24 hours so I thought they'd be more convenient. The prescriptions take forever to fill sometimes days. The pharmacy reviews are terrible for a reason and it's not like every single experience is bad but at least 3 out of 5 of mine were disappointing. The pharmacy employees specifically are the worst because they have no clue how to compose themselves in a professional manner. They act like they are the only people who have a stressful job and they absolutely let it show. Poor attitudes and demeanor with me and I've seen this with other customers around me. The last straw for me was when I spoke with a pharmacist yesterday (I believe her name was Minae) and she was visibly frustrated/flustered and incredibly rude to me. I've never had a pharmacist interrupt me and talk over me without giving her a good reason to do so. I was just trying to figure out what the problem was with the rx so I could contact my doctor if needed and I wasn't upset at all until I had that interaction with her. I needed a prescription. My doctor's office wouldn't call HI so they asked me to get the fax number. Long's can't give me the fax number because I'm not a doctor. DRAMAZ! What's a girl to do? The tech at Long's offered to call my doctor's office and give them the number herself. Problem solved. Also, I got a sweet portable flat iron on sale for 25% off AND beer. Thank goodness for Longs. Longs has been an island business for a long time. Even though the company was bought by CVS, it is nice to see that the same store that I have grown up with remains for the most part the same. It is very similar to the Bartell Drugs store chain in Washington in that the product line here is diversely made up of medicines, household goods and groceries. All Longs for the most part look pretty much the same. Came here to just get a bottled water, but it looks identical to the locations I frequent on Oahu. The prices are a little higher, since this is a neighbor island store. Of particularly interest is their selection of locally made products like macadamia nuts and rice crackers. You can go to a place like Walmart for these items, but I have found prices at Longs to be pretty competitive. Particularly when they are on sale and that is often. Their ads are very old school and traditional. True that for some things, Longs may not be the cheapest place to go for. But it is the dependability that this chain is known for, which is why it is so recognizable and popular in the islands. read more

The floors looked they hadn't been cleaned in what looked like weeks, bags of badly molded bread in plain sight, filthy floors full of pubes, hair, dirt, dust balls, and other garbage. The clerks are nice, but this place was a total dump. It looked like Marjory madame Trash Heap from fraggle rock was living here. We are appreciative that this Longs has a 24 hr drive through window to pick up meds. Here was our experience on this day at around 6:00 pm after being discharged from the hospital. We drove through to drop of our prescription paper. Was told to come back in 20 minutes, no problem. Pulled up at the window at about 20 minutes later. We waited for a good couple minutes. Then pressed the button and waited for another 10 minutes. Mind you there's 2 people in there. No acknowledgement or anything. No customer service to let us know anything. Just totally ignored. So we drove around to park and I headed inside. Got to the counter at pharmacy and was helped. I asked if the drive through was open. She said they will open in 20 minutes because they are short staff. I get it BUT I told her we were waiting parked right by the window and there was no acknowledgment at all. At least communicate with us something. I had a hard time walking in with shortness of breathe. It's really unfortunate. You don't know peoples circumstances that uses the drive through only to have to walk in because of no customer service at all at the window. Need to do better. read more

Worst experience ever. Trying to buy cold medecine for my child. Waited very long in the line. They opened a new register and toke the woman behind me! The woman mentioned to me would you like to go your waiting infront of me. I said sure thank you! The new cash register that just opened said no sorry when I first open my cash register I need to take someone with 3 or more products. Came in for Dayquil cause wasn't feeling well, they had sale sign at $7.49 which is a good price for 16 tablets , rang up at 10.00 at register, when employees walked back sign was ripped down. They looked all over the place for a $7.49 price tag . As if I grabbed it somewhere else. I filled a prescription for my daughter and later had filled another for my boyfriend using my cvs app. On May 25th I used the app to do express pickup for both prescriptions but was unable to actually go to the location to get it on the same day (on Kīlauea). My boyfriend and I went later the next day (May 26th) but it was later at night, after 7:30pm, and was told by the lady at the drive thru window that there was a hold or something on my daughters prescription. She said we could take my boyfriends and we could wait for my daughters too or it would be ready to pick up in the morning. I told her we would probably be back the next day and she gave us the meds for my boyfriend and we went home. The next day I go in and the lady at the desk says my daughters items were picked up on the 25th. I explain to her what happened and she kindly says she will go and check the system. Maybe 10-15 mins later she comes back and says that it was mailed out for delivery. I reassure her that I did not request for delivery and explain what happened previously, one more time. She goes to check the system again and comes back to look through some of their packages that are marked for delivery to see if it had gone out or not yet. The lady did not find it so she assumed it had went out for delivery already and told me to wait and see. I had been in the store for almost an hour now so I say "okay" and leave to go home. It is now June 13th and I've called to check in with them at least 2 times since my last in store visit and have gotten no where. They continue to tell me the same things I was told during my trip to pick up the prescription and I still have not had my daughters prescription delivered. They said if it had been delivered to the wrong address or something that it would've been returned to the store but I haven't gotten any calls back. My cvs app says we picked up her prescription on the 25th but it also says that it was filled on the 26th so I don't understand how that works. Maybe they need to upgrade there system? New to Hilo and had my prescriptions sent over to Longs on Kilauea. My meds are very expensive. I called the pharmacy to see if my meds were ready. All but one of them was ready and one had to be ordered. That's fine.. that's not my problem. My problem was the rude, unfriendly customer service I received when I arrived. I understand that businesses have bad days, so do customers, after all I was the one picking up meds. It is very rude to make a big deal about how much a med cost to a customer, on the phone and in person. I will be switching to Walgreens. read more

Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, but others not so much. The biggest problem with the Longs at 555 Kilauea Ave is they are always out of items on sale, as a lot of items are out of stock after the sale starts and more times than not, the items are not restocked. read more
