I loved going to this store as it was so convenient. Lately however I have had so many bad experiences that I go out of my way to go to Walgreens becasue their pharmacy service is so much better. My first bad experience was when I went to get my Hepatitis shot. OMG - had to wait 45 minutes even though I had an appointment time. The bald guy in his own cubicle was so grouchy and unfriendly. For my second and third shots I went to the Kapahulu location and was serviced in less than 5 minutes. Second experience was yesterday. I had 3 prescriptions to fill. They only had 2. Said I had to wait 15 minutes to process. So I waited. 15 minutes later I heard my name on the store intercom that my prescription was ready. I go to the pickup counter - no other customers around. No workers around either. So I wait. After about 5 minutes the bald guy who has his own cubilcle in the middle (Pharmacist?) asks me what I am there for. I said waiting for my prescription. He says I must stand on the blue dot - about 10 feet behind the counter. I said "but I already heard my name called on the intercom saying my prescription was ready". "You must wait on the blue dot!" So I went back and stood on the blue dot. Now this is at 2:30 in the afternoon when there is hardly anyone in the store. I waited on the blue dot for about 10 more minutes before someone came to help me. Go to Walgreens. No waiting. No hassle. How it is supposed to be. read more

Why does my local pharmacy have to suck so badly? The cashiers are very friendly, but that may actually be the problem. They are too friendly and sometimes that slows things down to a crawl. There has never been a time when I have gotten in line, rung up, and on my way in an efficient manner. Top that with the fact that something ALWAYS happens. A price check. Someone doesn't have the right change. The manager has to come for some odd reason. The last I was there it was the receipt printer. It was not working well and the receipt was gibberish. Of course, I was spending over $50 and when I asked for a legible receipt the manager told me she would have to go upstairs and search for the transaction then print it up. She looked at me as if she wanted to know if I really wanted to go through that. Heck no, I don't! It is always something. Other than that, the store is ok but I just feel like I have to psyche myself up for a trip to the Manoa Longs every time. I know it will be painful. read more

After the Longs located on Bishop St., this is my second most frequently visited Longs. I prefer going to this Longs rather than the Downtown Bishop St. Longs because it is not so hectic and crowded. However, I have to admit that I am slowly losing patience with the Manoa Longs. While the customer service is friendly, there never seems to have enough cashiers in the front for check out. I went to Longs today and waited in a super long line because only one cashier line was open. Eventually they started to open more, but by that time, customers (like me) were starting to grumble. To top it off, the lady in front of me held things up by paying for her stuff with several gift cards. So irritating! Also, this branch doesn't seem to restock their shelves fast enough and fails to keep an adequate inventory of the items on sale. Perhaps a lot of Manoa residents constantly beat me to it by shopping right when the store opens on Sunday morning, but I've gone to this Longs on a Sunday in the early afternoon only to see bare sale shelves. Perhaps I am expecting too much, but I've been coming to this Longs for YEARS and have seen this place kind of flounder. I'm not sure what the problem is. Sometimes if this Longs doesn't have what I need, I'll drive down to the Moili'ili Longs and usually find what I'm looking for. I still love the convenient location and low key feel of the Manoa Longs, so I'm still going to remain a faithful customer, but I really hope that they step up their game. read more

Friendly store staff but the pharmacy leaves loads to be desired. What's the point of having an automated prescription refill system over the phone if I always have to wait for my meds when I go pick tnem up? This has happened to me at least twice on an established prescription: I phone it in at 9 or 10 AM, indicate I'll pick up at 5 PM, show up at 5:30PM only to be told "it's being finished/filled now, we'll call you back to the register when it's ready" or "the pharmacist has to check it first." Eight plus hours wasn't long enough? I had to be somewhere else so I left after 5 minutes and came back an hour later. They must have a policy of only finalizing a prescription when a warm body shows up to pay for it. If that's the rule, just say so! read more

"All photo personnel are assisting other customers. Please hold and someone will assist you momentarily." I was on hold so long that I memorized that prompt, verbatim and that was after being bored so long I decided to try to memorize it. More realistically, there was no one manning the photo station when my call went through. I've been there. I usually have to search for help. About 5 minutes on hold is an eternity by cell or otherwise, at work or hey, even picking my toes. Typical of Manoa Longs "service." Called 2 other Longs, (Pali and Kam Shopping Center) and got the answer I needed within seconds. Longs Manoa is always too busy to help their customers. Sigh. I hate that. read more

I LOVE this location. Can you tell by all the check-ins? The staff is always soo nice and friendly. They always have a smile on their faces and I am always asked if I need any help or looking for anything by at least one person. The store is kept very clean. They have a great selection of products and they keep their sale items stocked neatly. Also, they make sure the sale items, such as the produce or chilled items are fresh and make sure that they are the best products that they can offer. I love the deals and sales that they have. I appreciate their implementation of the CVS rewards card. I always get coupons and they seemed to be tailored to the items that I tend to purchase most often, but a cashier told me its random. I can believe though right? LOL. I will keep coming here and am a weekly customer checking out the latest deals or using coupons. Shame on you Longs Manoa , these Fishermans Friend cough drops are sold in packs of 2 ,20 lozenges in each pack with a total of 40,it seems you have open the "set packs " and now trying to sell each one individually @$2.19 each when the pack of 2 sells for $3.19 ,plus how have it displayed on the bottom shelf just piled up on top of each other...I stopped at Kahala Mall longs on the way to Hawaii Kai and bought some there as they should be sold 1 package set of 2 @ $3.19,and while I was in Hawaii Kai they were sold correctly as they should ... Longs I want to say has always been consistent from the time that I've been a kid and can remember going there with my mom and grandmother. The staff is generally kind, helpful and accommodating. I visited the pharmacy today and was very pleased by the service. They seemed very busy yet so helpful and I appreciate that. As one of the sole surviving Long's Drugs (yeah they're technically CVS but got to keep their name), this Manoa location will always hold a special place with me as I frequented it during my college years. It's definitely very clean, the staff are super friendly, and the aisles are always stocked with product, as well as local treats, pastries, snacks, and the like. Great location, they also have a large portion of the parking lot, which in Honolulu is always hard to come by, it's easy to get to, and a hassle-free experience. Only thing is, their prices seem to creep higher and higher. Things as simple as Tylenol or cough drops are quite pricey, and make the store seem like a specialty indie grocer, and less like your friendly local pharmacy. read more

I haven't had any terribly bad or any excitingly good things happen at this branch. It's a nice little drug store where I stop on occasion to pick up snacks or supplies. The few times I've been here, the employees have been polite & helpful. You just have to indicate the contact first however..they are not gonna come out of their way to see if you need anything. The lines can be long at times but that is true of any retail store. It's how they respond to that is the key. At times they call an another cashier right away at other times it could be awhile. This review is for the pharmacy. Poorly trained pharmacy techs who seem to have no training in customer service. I stood on line only to find they got my prescription wrong, waited 10 minutes, then when they called my name, instead of apologizing for the error and ringing me up, the tech gestured to the back of the line. Didn't want to make a scene so I did what I was told. This is not surprising given the attitude of the male pharmacist who always acts like he has better things to do when you talk to him (on the phone and in person). I give Longs Manoa five Yelpie stars. Why? Well, it's located in Manoa, and although I am just a commoner living on Oahu, and can't afford to live in this community, I really love the vibe here and the fact that it could rain at any minute (on partly sunny days). I like that there is plenty of parking nearby. I like that there are other businesses to patronize in the Manoa Marketplace, including Safeway. I like the general layout of the store (although I admit I don't care for the new way they have the checkout counters laid out). But the number one reason I love this Longs is that this is where I left my checkout line to converse with the woman who would eventually become my wife. If I had just stayed put in my own neighborhood, and not come here to Manoa Longs to shop, I wouldn't be blessed with a wonderful marriage and two beautiful, compassionate children. I have the app on my phone, but the cashier wouldn't help me retrieve any viable coupons from it. I have been shopping here for the last 44 years. Yes I liked it better before CVS took over but it is the only drug store in Manoa and it provides a vital service. With CVS shutting down stores I hope Manoa is not on the list. The hardship for elderly people in the valley would be immense. I haven't really had the bad experiences that other's here report about the staff being rude. I think it's hit or miss who you deal with. One guy was super helpful and when I wanted to buy a Longs brand item that was on sale but out of stock he let me take the name-brand equivalent for the same price. They've never given me any grief about returning items, and have generally been polite to me. It suffered a setback when CVS swallowed up Longs a few years ago, and the sales since then have not been as good, but I think the staff is still pretty nice. read more

I came here right before closing, the night before Valentine's Day. I was buying 25 balloons for a surprise that I was putting together for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day and the people who helped me were awesome!! I called ahead of time to check and make sure they had the colors I wanted and they were kind enough to have the correct amount in the various colors set aside for me and when I got there they had four people helping with my balloons because they could tell that I was in a little bit of a rush!!! They made sure I knew how long the helium would last and even helped me put all of the balloons in. Garbage bags so that they would fit in my small car. They made what could have been a tedious process quick and easy!! read more

My family and I have been dedicated customers to this particular Longs since 2006 until TODAY. I purchase most of my cosmetics, toiletries, house item's, medications, etc from this particular location as well as the Moilili, Kaimuki, King St Longs Drugs near straub for many years. I lived in Manoa, Makiki area so its comfortable. I am also here often due to the Manoa Laundry, Central Pacific Bank, American Savings Bank, Safeway, Subway, Manoa Sushi, Post office, McDonalds, Texco and a few other spots. My children went to Noelani Elementary School, Manoa Summer Fun, Manoa Library, most of all my family lives in Manoa. Today I was shopping in Longs and was approached by female officer HPD along with Longs Manager Jeffrey Shiraki around 6:00 pm. Jeffrey stated "you were caught stealing from this location on many times and it is on camera". My first thought was is this really happening?? They surely are mistaken. You got the wrong person I said. Jeffrey insisted I am the person on camera stealing. I asked both Jeffrey and the three officers on seen to view the video tape of me stealing because I am confused. I was not given the opportunity to see video or nothing to back up Jeffrey's accusation. I denied the accusation and became very emotional since I was alone and did not know my rights. There was 3 officers detaining me in the front area of Longs where customers and Longs workers viewed and heard everything. I was embarressed and humiliated. Due to my anxiety I began to sweat, nausea and dizziness. I asked to use restroom...denied. A chair was given and placed in an aile in front of registers. HPD Officers had me wait for my trespassing papers. Why was I not detained in the public eye? I was also confronted in front of customers and employees. I did nothing wrong to deserve such treatment? Longs Drugs and HPD simply had no proof to show me stealing but continued to detained me, had me sign papers for trespassing, took pictures of me on their personal phone. Why? I wasn't being arrested. The security of shopping center tried taking my picture and I asked to not take on his personal cellular. He grabbed work phone from his right pocket and took my picture stating "he was going to send it to his personal phone any way". Why would a security send my picture to his personal phone? I began to shake and my heart raced. Again, I started to feel confused and anxious. Female officer took my picture but I asked why holding my hand up in front of my face? She mention that she can get picture on Longs camera. This was a very scary experience. I have no record of stealing! Where is the evidence Jeffrey? When did this happen? What was stolen? I need some answers. If I did it...I can understand and take responsibility. But I really don't know what is happening. My last time shopping in Longs was just on Memorial Weekend. I had a clerk called to the front registers to assist me with merchandise I was looking for. Each time I have shopped in Longs...I am walking around shopping center going to the bank, eating at the spots there for hours. Lots of time to stop me then, if I was that person you claim to have caused theft. If this were a "true case of theft"...give me some evidence. Don't humiliate me, band me from ALL Longs and turn my life upside down now that I am unable to be on the property of Manoa shopping center for one year?? I am very depressed from this. Manoa Center is a part of my daily routine. I am unable to not only go to Manoa Shopping Center but band from all Longs Drugs where I use the drive thru to pick up important medications. Someone please guide me or help me. I pray and hope noone goes through this. It's really hurting my spirit and self esteem to have experienced this with no proof. I am a good person. It's nice to have a Longs near by so that I can get the occasional tube of toothpaste, or beer, or junk food. Shady pricing scheme - 40% off coupon can only be used for non-sale items, but the store does not label sale items and surprises you at the checkout. 3 items that were labeled at regular price became somehow during check-out all on "sale" at 10% off. They have a really good selection of miscellaneous candies and junk food that I usually go for. Besides Safeway and Wal-Mart, Longs is one of most accessible places to pick up a movie-sized box of Jujy Fruits of Dots. There's always a lot of parking too. Just watch out for the older crowd who don't always look both ways before crossing the street or when pulling out of their parking stalls. read more

But this I just happened to go to the same cashier who noticed a coupon sticking out of my wallet for $1.50. I thought long and hard before writing this: I have been going to this Longs for at least 35 years (maybe longer). Poor service was an anomaly or happened infrequently. The employees and management were helpful. In recent months and weeks, and especially this past Wednesday (12/11/19) evening, it has been increasingly the complete opposite. When I entered, I heard the cashier at Check-Out Station #1 loudly telling a friend that she was no longer at the Kamehameha Shopping Center Longs because she got in trouble with the manager there....so they transferred her to Manoa. When I went to check out with a wagon full of various products, there was only one (very long) line at Station #1 (no other options). A customer was trying to return an item and the "transferred cashier" at Station #1 was either playing overly obtuse or she is incompetent. Some of us waited 20-30 minutes. I think the most heart-wrenching discovery was that the manager didnt care. She was formerly helpful and responsive. The woman at Station #1 saw the long line and clearly didnt want to ring up all of us and in my opinion, she "milked" the return/refund transaction. We were finally moved to another Check-Out station and my items which stretched across the length of the belt, had to be returned to my wagon and moved. The Cashier who helped me move all of my things was clearly aggravated and rude to me (I am physically disabled). Suddenly, the Cashier at Station #1 knew how to refund the customer and the transaction was completed in seconds, AFTER we were all moved. Now I know why this employee was transferred. Although this location is convenient, that was my last visit to CVS/Longs Manoa. read more

Mom decided to walk from her Manoa hair salon on East Manoa Road to Longs of all days--it was hot and muggy, and she is a slow walker with a cane. She barely made it to the door, didn't feel well, and a lady ran up with a stool for her to sit on and a cold bottle of water. I was on my way to pick her up, and Mom thought she'd save time by walking to Longs. The employees moved Mom to behind their service desk, across the first cashier, so they could watch her and make sure she was ok. I am so grateful to all of you, sorry I didn't get anyone's names. Too bad Long's sold out to CVS. Over the counter drugstore items are often empty shelves. These stores have the slowest check-out in Honolulu. The key pad terminal for credit card use is loose on it's mount, I guess there is no time to do maintenance while further inconveniencing customers. I attempted to go to this pharmacy, on a weekday morning. It was slow; however, the workers in the pharmacy are lazy, unfriendly, and slow. I literally waited at the drop off counter for 20 minutes, to drop off a prescription for my child. Only the janitor, who was mopping nearby, kept looking at me, and looking at the workers, trying to acknowledge me. The workers Never greeted, never came to the drop off area. It's not a huge area. They could all see me, but it was obvious that each of them were waiting to see who would actually work. I went to the regular CVS Longs manager to complain about the HORRIBLE non-service at the pharmacy. He apologized, and said, "Let's go take this there." But I do have a life, and I work - I had to leave already. And so thanks to CVS Longs Manoa pharmacy, my son has to wait hours later to start feeling better. I will NEVER go to Manoa CVS Longs pharmacy again. Ever. Worst service ever. read more

Since CVS bought out Longs, the quality seems to have gone downhill. This is especially noted in the pharmacy department. Customer service? Forget it! And, the pharmacist doesn't even listen to the patient. He seems like a textbook learner, not grounded in reality. I don't think he even likes his job (or people, in general). Sad. Very negative, more interested in being right, than hearing what you have to say. I guess listening skills are not required to be a pharmacist. I'm a nurse. I came here recently on a random Thursday evening and my quick shopping experience was pretty good. At the entrance there was a sale on some garden items. There was a couple of shovels that I have been looking for so that was already a plus. There was some snacks that was on sale too so that was another plus. Everything that I came looking for I got. Surprisingly I didn't think I would have satisfied my shopping needs on a random Thursday night at a Longs Drugs but it was pretty successful. The staff and customer service was on point that night. I was walking around and one of the workers asked if I needed help and needed a shopping cart or anything. This Longs store was fairly sized. I always enjoy their weekly sales on various items. Sometimes the stuff that they have on sale is the stuff that you need just like the shovel that I got. Longs Drugs sales are always good. This location is conveniently located all the way at the back of the Manoa Market Shopping Center plaza area right along where there are other surrounding shops nearby. They have a good sized parking lot right in frond and around the shopping area too. read more

Pharmacy is horrible. Waited for an hour for them to fill my son's prescription, after it had been called in by the Doctor two hours previously. After waiting an hour, they were nice enough to inform me the computers were down, and they couldn't pull any new prescriptions. "Come back tomorrow..." I have been going to this Longs for decades and have noticed a dramatic decrease in customer service over the last 4-5 years. There is NEVER enough cashiers so expect to spend a minimum of 10-15 minutes to pick up something as simple as a soda. The pharmacy experience is similarly frustrating. The pharmacists are nice and greet you with a smile but my medication is NEVER ready even after receiving the automated message for pick up. If you have a savings card from your doctor, good luck on trying to use it. The staff will put up roadblock after roadblock to prevent you from trying to save money. I can't believe that I haven't reviewed this Longs yet. This is my "home Longs" if you will. I've been coming here since I was a kid. I lived in Manoa since I was five so I've been coming here for twenty years. Crazy when you think about it. I honestly hope they don't change things around like Wal Mart and Target love to do. I know where everything is and where things are when they go on sale. My husband and I have been known to start a run on yogurt when it's on sale. We cleaned out half their fridge and all these old people were standing behind us looking scared! Ha! We LOVE yogurt and so does our dog... I think he loves it more than his bacon bone! He will sit on my lap and stick his whole face into my Yoplait yogurt... crazy dog! Anyway I digress. This Longs is also where I go to fill my prescriptions, despite the fact that Manoa is filled with elderly, I haven't had to wait too long to fill one. Don't come here on a Sunday morning unless you want to fight with every senior citizen that has been up since five AM and already read their newspaper and planned where and what they were going to buy for the week. It gets all crazy and no one is under 50 at Longs in the morning. Go to the open market for a bit then pray that Longs is less crowded. I find these Longs employees more friendly than say the ones at Kaimuki. They ask me how my day was and honestly listen to what I'm saying. You try saying something than "fine" at a different Longs and you'll see what I mean. read more
