They serve better musubi's here than the ABC store. I think the rice is softer and more seasoned musubis imo. Tried the regular spam musubi, deluxe musubi and the hotdog musubi. The regular spam musubi there is a special I think where you buy 2 get 1 free. That's only the basic ones. Deluxe musubi has the furikake and egg with spam. The egg was not that thick but nonetheless it was still a tasty musubi. The furikake adds an umph to the rice. The hotdog musubi they use the red hotdogs I think its by Redondo's. This was okay it didn't impress me taste wise. Overall I would stick to the basic spam musubi here for price point. 7-11 is the only convenience store that sells weekly - monthly HOLO bus passes btw. ABC sells daily day HOLO cards only. 7 days HOLO is $35 plus $2 card fee. 7-11 also offers hawaiian local slurpee flavors - just be on the lookout for those flavors. read more

I came here a few times, as I was digging their Curry Chicken manapua, which reminds you of hobbang/jinbbang - a large steamed bao filled with a savory (or sweet) filling. These were always piping hot, and they were just sooo good! I also liked their crispy 'empanadas', which were beef and cheese filled - They also carried some Arizonas that were of different flavors! I've seen this 7-11 on many YouTube videos. They said that this location has items that other 7-11's don't. I had to come and see for myself. I found that they had pretty much the same things except for the Coke machine and the Fresh Blends machine. The Coke machine is the one where you can mix your own flavors and Fresh Blends just turns your coffee into a slushy. We got a vanilla coffee and watched it being blended. It was actually really good. They carry all the same foods as the other locations. I saw sandwiches, entrees, musubis, manapuas and pork hash. I just had dinner, but had to get a pork hash. We visited the 7-Eleven at 1901 Kalākaua Avenue in Waikiki around 7:20 AM to grab coffee and some quick breakfast. We bought 4 coffees and 2 sushi packs (worth about $6), and paid a total of $27 plus tax. After dropping off my sister at Don Quijote, we realized we had accidentally left the sushi on the counter. We called our mom to ask if she might've grabbed them, but she said no -- her hands were already full with sandwiches she bought. So we went back to the store to check if the sushi was still there. When we explained the situation to the older Filipino lady at the counter, she was very dismissive and rude. She said, "No, nothing was left here, there's nothing I can do," and completely ignored us afterward. It felt like she didn't care at all and acted like we weren't even there. We left the store feeling extremely disappointed -- not just because we lost our food, but because of the way we were treated. The customer service was unacceptable, and it honestly ruined our morning. If you're in the area, go to the 7-Eleven across from this location instead -- the staff there are way more respectful and helpful compared to the one at 1901 Kalākaua Avenue. 7-11 in Hawaii is pretty much a mini 7-11 in Japan. Think Lawson and Family Mart but on a smaller scale. What makes it Japanese like? The Japanese snacks and ready to eat meals! They have their own line of snacks from Japan, not a lot but enough to remind myself that I'm in a 7-11 and not in Nijiya or Marukai. They have grab and go meals, mostly local food - Musubi, Bento, Loco Moco, Pasta, Portuguese sausage, Somen, Mochiko chicken and many more I wasn't able to take pictures of. Slurpee flavors include banana, melon and ube. Try the melon and ube. Slurpee is always a good idea on a hot sunny day. Well, shave ice is the best when in Hawaii but slurpee does the trick as well. I had to bring my friends, Jun and Aaron, here before we went hiking. I wanted to make sure that they had a chance to see the varieties of snacks that Hawaii residents enjoy. I also gave them an opportunity to select foods that they would like to have as a reward for making it up the hill to view the Makapu'u Lighthouse. Located on the corner of Kalakaua Avenue and Ena Road, this particular 7-Eleven was close to their hotel. It had sufficient parking stalls and seemed larger than other 7-Elevens. The staff was very friendly and efficient! I got the konbu ume musubi from the refrigerated section because I wanted to try it. Hmmm... The rice was on the dry, hard side. When I took a bite, some of the rice fell to the ground - evidence that the rice isn't that sticky type. I kinda wished that I had gotten the musubi from the warmer... Maybe the fish or the garlic chicken... Maybe a manapua or two? However, I'm glad that I had the taste of the konbu and ume. Oishii! I wouldn't mind taking other tourist friends to this 7-Eleven for more goodies and snacks! It's a good idea to keep some yummy food on hand for energy and a healthy blood sugar level! There's always plenty of options to choose from regarding musubis, rolls, entree plates etc., as well as plenty of snacks and drinks. If you're visiting from the mainland, you will immediately find out that Hawaii's stores are unique. This is not your regular 7-Eleven with just taquitos. Bentos, manapua, pork hash (siumai), saimin, musubis, Hawaiian Isles Kona Coffee Co., locally flavored Slurpees, local/Asian frozen desserts, Korean snacks, 7-Eleven plantation tea/yuzu tea, anyone?? Being Filipina, the pancit-chicken adobo bento is my guilty pleasure. These local dishes are sold both heated and refrigerated. I don't have "chef's hands," so I'd have to be cautious picking up the hot foods on display. It's cool that 7-Eleven partners with local businesses like Nanding's Bakery, Ubae, and Yung Yee Kee, selling their regular/ube Spanish rolls, ube tarts, and dimsum, respectively. I have yet to catch the dimsum though! During my second year living on Oahu, some friends and I took a trip to the mainland, and had to make a 7-Eleven pit stop. Ginger ale & gatorade is our constant drinks. As per this location, this one is the closest to us. We also love how the cashiers in here are efficient & friendly. Back in 2016, I was having a conversation with my Aunt and Uncle in Waipahu. The subject was Spam Musubi, and he declared that 7-Eleven had the best Musubis on the island. This was quite a stunning revelation, and I had to do some research on the matter. Sure enough, I read some articles and watched videos to verify this information. The hands on experiment would have to wait until 2019 though. We stopped by this location to grab some Musubis on the evening prior to our morning hike at Lanikai Pillbox in Kailua. Place was kinda sketchy with a couple of homeless people fighting outside and another 5150 yelling at no one and everyone simultaneously. It was quite a sight to witness, so we stayed inside the car until the coast was clear. Once we got in, we immediately proceeded to the hot boxes and grabbed some Musubis to go. The place felt kind of weird though and there was some form of uneasiness permeating in the air. The person working there also didn't greet us and looked disturbed that we were there. We got out of there pretty quickly and saved the Musubis for the hike. The following morning during our hike, we unwrapped a couple of Musubis while resting and they were definitely legit. Even though they were cold, the ratio of meat to rice was just right and they were satisfying and delicious. I planned on taking photos of the Musubis while hiking, but we enjoyed them so much as they went straight to our stomachs. They were the perfect snacks to bring since you had protein and rice all wrapped in one. Ask any Asian, and that's good enough for them. We had a total of four (2 each) and it was enough to energize and boost us for the rest of the hike. Location wise, I'd go to another 7-Eleven store next time. read more

Do NOT PARK at this 7-11 if you plan to shop there. They do some shady business and are on it with VIP Towing that will literally steal your car from the parking lot while you are in there. Left my car there less than 15 minutes and as I was walking out the VIP Towing was taking it away. That is all they do, they wait there and illegally tow (steal) your car and tell you to call the number and go to their impound to pick it up. It's couple of miles down the road, super sketchy place, and of course you can not pay with the credit card, they only take cash. This is all super shady, and they are all in on it. 7/11, laundry place, and VIP towing. Mafia is all connected and running the show, stealing from people. Read the reviews on VIP Towing and it will tell you the entire story. So many people have had their vehicle stolen by the towing company but 7-11 I am sure is on it for a certain cut. All doing their best to absolutely ruin the Hawaii experience for so many people. read more

Of the eight or so contestants, two get their dish featured and sold at the 7-11 Stores. Short of the Pandemic, the annual contest was held this year and again the two top contestants get their dish featured and sold at the 7-11 Stores. REEL FORWARD TO PRESENT DAY I am hungry and could only think of the 2 dishes which should be featured in the stores.... No such luck - Maybe they are still coordinating and maybe they are only at designated 7-11 Stores, I don't know. All is not lost! I see the pork and peas dish which won a couple years ago so that's what I got instead. And for the price? A meal at home cannot be prepared for the purchase retail price of this meal BUT and In conclusion- check in advance if you're looking for a specific product at the 7-11 Stores. Not sure but I think the headquarters and main office can answer your questions on specific items (I should have taken my own suggestion to heart and checked in advance before stopping by). Last, this location may not be the most desirable spot as law enforcement is always there controlling the conditions. (while I was there, store employees calling 911 to get one of their unruly patrons out of the store. So, enter this location at your own risk. Stopped in to pick up 2 items and as soon as I got to the register, there was an older "Karen" who was clearly training to work the register as I have never seen her there before and the associates were guiding her through the transaction. Suddenly, one of the local employees (whose mask was completely below and exposing her nose and nostrils) approaches the check stand and tells Karen to stop the transaction because I wasn't wearing a traditional mask with straps on. You see, I had forgotten my mask at home and had wrapped my NOSE and MOUTH with my cardigan as a face covering, which I was also holding securely to my face with my hand. They asked me several times where my mask was, to which I repeatedly responded, "This is my face covering." The sign out front clearly states "Face Covering" required. It does NOT say "Must be wearing a Mask with straps to enter." Apparently, they are unaware that their sign says "Face covering" not mask with straps. And they are also apparently misinformed about the main use and function of a face covering. I "complied" to their verbal request and walked back to my apartment, put my "Mask with straps" on and re-entered their establishment. I picked up the same items and made my purchase, which prompted Karen to say "Oh, I remember her." I responded by reminding her and the staff that "When enforcing rules, your employees should follow them by keeping both nose and mouth covered...unlike your associate over there whose nose has been exposed and is still exposed this entire time. Your sign says FACE COVERING and although I wasn't wearing a mask with straps, in the beginning, at least my nose and mouth was and has been covered." Instead of taking the constructive criticism, Karen rudely replied with "I just work here. I don't make the rules." Of course, that's no way to address the issue at hand with a paying customer so I told her that I would call management and report the problem to which she responded "Get out of here and leave, already!!!" I understand that there are rules to abide by during these unsure times and I know how difficult it is to enforce rules and guidelines that seem to be constantly changing...but it would behove one to know exactly what the guidelines are and, even more importantly, to practice following these rules oneself when enforcing them. I would have felt better if the associate would have simply complied by covering her nose after I pointed it out. But, she just stood there repeating the "mask" rule. What I found to be totally unprofessional and unacceptable, in terms of customer service, was the dismissive and rude manner in which trainee "Karen" mishandled her response to the problem. Brand new Waikiki location, this is a large and clean 7-Eleven with a huge selection and standard prices. Just opened in September 2015, this Kalakaua store is a huge improvement over the other ones close by. Formerly Prince Kuhio Pharmacy (and Jack in the Box before that), I can see 7-Eleven being here to stay. At the corner of McCully and Kalakaua, this location is walking distance of the Hilton Hawaiian Village, and all of Ewa Waikiki. There are entrances on the makai side along the street and mauka on their free parking lot (shared with the laundromat). The store is large and offers a complete selection of all of 7-Eleven's items (drinks, ice cream, candy, food, and tons of bento, musubi, sushi, and sandwiches). The staff are friendly and enthusiastic about the new location. read more
