Eh... we have been here 3 times now and just aren't impressed. Don't get me wrong the bbq foods are very good but everything else falls short. 1- staff was cordial but not friendly and welcoming 2- pizza was not very tasty the sauce was bland and the crust although crispy on the bottom seems doughy under the sauce. 3- coleslaw tasteless, beans were like canned with too much chili powder, cranberries ( we think that's what they were) had no flavor, cornbread tasted good but was dry, Mac and cheese was cold and this is the second Time something was left off the meal platter. First time was Mac and cheese and second was French fries. 4-wings were not done crispy as the skin was soggy, yuk. 5- drinks were ok but seemed weak, but we were used to mixing our own, lol. I guess we should have took it as a sign that all the taverns with food were full and this one had hardly any one there. I don't believe they will get a fourth chance from us.

The Brisket and smoked prime rib was out of this world, not to mention the brisket mushroom soup.

We pulled up to the restaurant on a Tuesday mid afternoon and were pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. Service was friendly and welcoming. I don't think I've been to a cleaner restaurant. Ever. The food... being from Texas we are bbq snobs. And this bbq did not disappoint especially considering its location up north. From the 5 sauces given to us which were labeled (loved this so we could remember which was which), the creamy mac and cheese to the perfectly seasoned pulled pork, everything was so good. The ribs were nicely sauced and perfectly tender. We split a 2 meat (pilled pork and 3 ribs) with 2 sides ( mac and cheese and chili (up-charge)). The portions were generous and well priced. Re-route your trip, and stop by the Curious Pig! You won't be disappointed.

The BBQ baked beans are ok. The hush puppies & pimento cheese appetizer was ok. The hush puppies were dry and bland. The pimento cheese was good though. The bad - the Rueben sandwich. The meat was good but it was just huge chunks, not shaved. I could not eat the sandwich or enjoy it. It all just fell apart. Disappointing. I wanted to say something but the owner did not seem overly friendly or wanted to bother talking to us. I will go back but just order a meat platter or ribs.

This is a huge restaurant with full bar, multiple taps of beer and an equally huge menu. My group was coming back from a non-high fence hunt. We were cold and hungry. I suggested a drink and some pizza. From the moment we pulled into the large parking lot, it was one surprise after another. The huge lodge building that serves as the restaurant, gift shop, bar and music venue was decorated nicely for Christmas. It was quite the sight. As we approached the building, we heard the sounds of live music. Inside, the crazy display of trophy deer mounts was almost dizzying. It literally took a couple of minutes to adjust to all the hustle, bustle and visual effects. The next surprise was the huge menu. If you can't find something to eat, you aren't hungry. All the items on the menu sounded delicious and the food being picked up by patrons at the counter looked great. We had second thoughts on having pizza when we saw all the fish fry options and other menu choices. However, we ordered pizzas and got our buzzer; to let us know when our pizzas were ready. We went around the corner and orders drinks from the bar. Wherever we were in the establishment, helpful staff gave us the information and assistance we needed. Our wood fire pizzas were really tasty. We preferred the Hot Honey Elk Pepperoni Sesame over the Meat Lovers but both were solid choices. Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of the sauces, but the crust was good and the toppings were ample. Overall, I need to return to try more of the menu (thinking steak). The prices seemed on par with similar establishments, the drinks were reasonable and the service was good. Definitely will add a trip back during a future "up north" excursion.
