1 Star (and honestly that's being generous) If I had the option, I wouldn't give this place any stars. My 19-year-old daughter booked an appointment here on her own for the first time. She brought in inspiration photos and explained exactly what she wanted to her stylist. Unfortunately, the results were nothing like what she asked for and she left extremely upset. When I contacted the salon to address the situation, the owner's response was completely unprofessional. Instead of listening or trying to resolve the issue, he spoke to both my daughter and myself in a very disrespectful and inappropriate manner. As a business owner, the way you speak to your customers matters. A man should never talk to a young woman or any client the way he spoke to us. Based on the way the owner handled this situation alone, I absolutely do not recommend this place. read more

I recently went to this salon for a partial balayage and long haircut, and unfortunately my experience was extremely disappointing. My hair was completely botched. I asked for a small trim, but the stylist cut 5-6 inches off my hair, leaving it very uneven. The balayage was also not done properly. Instead of a blended balayage, my hair is streaky, patchy, and poorly blended. It was barely toned, and now my hair has orange and yellow spots throughout it, which looks nothing like the inspiration photo I showed before the appointment. Before the service even began, I specifically told the stylist that I had previously used Kristen Ess hair gloss on my hair, so she was fully aware of my hair history going into the appointment. Because of how upset I was, my mother contacted the owner to discuss the situation. When he called me, he said the only way I could receive a refund was if I came back in and let him fix it. I was not comfortable with that, since my hair had already been ruined by this salon. During the call, he then tried to blame the outcome on the fact that I had previously used Kristen Ess hair gloss, implying that the result was somehow my fault--even though I had already informed the stylist of that beforehand. That also does not explain the uneven haircut, streaky color placement, or the lack of proper toning. Overall, the way this situation was handled was extremely unprofessional. My hair looks nothing like what I asked for, and instead of taking responsibility, the owner was dismissive and rude. I am very upset with both the service and how the situation was handled afterward. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this salon based on my experience. read more

The last time I walked out of a salon with a hair cut, my hair honestly felt like they used Gene Simons hair as my choice,LMFAO! Brandy I believe is who took her time to fix me up here!! My hair had that fresh cut feel of weightlessness and that feel good flow! I did read a previous bad review that nearly scared me away from here but then I thought, well hair grows back and it can't be any worst than sporting a Gene Simmons hair doo for a few months so I called and set up my appointment and I'm glad I did. The salon was very open so I didn't have that cluttered feeling, the girls seem very nice and talkative. I'm not a great conversationalist so even when it was silent it wasn't awkward at all oh and they played great music! I won't return. The stylist I had apparently doesn't know how to smile or be in a good mood. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she actually said I don't know how to cut hair like that. My highlights were apparently done incorrectly as my roots are still DARK. Something is wrong with my haircut as well. The stylist next to me never stopped talking which is the last thing I want in a hair salon!!!! read more

My husband has been getting his haircut here for the past 3 years and we are very satisfied with this place. This company must be a good place to work considering they are able to keep employees (the same employees too). We don't mind who cuts his hair but we do have a few favorites. They actually all do a great job! I would highly recommend Look After Hair Company in Shiloh, IL. They are a chain but all individually owned I think. We had been to the one in Swansea a couple times before and it's literally night and day with the Shiloh location. This is the place to go for a cut! read more

After giving myself a botched DIY haircut, I decided that I needed a professional to clean it up. After reading some reviews, I decided to book an appointment with Whitney. She killed it! I was in and out within 30 minutes, and I left with one of the best haircuts that I have ever gotten. I left completely satisfied, and I will be booking with her again. Also, I am very picky when it comes to my hair, and I have been struggling to find a hairstylist since moving here three years ago. I'll be honest -- I was a bit nervous about going to a walk-in salon to get my hair fixed, but I ended up loving the no frills vibe from it. I didn't have to worry about being pressured to buy products, or having extra services tacked on to my total. Being that I'm on a budget, I greatly appreciate this! I finally have a great haircut! Since moving back to this area three years ago I have struggled to find a stylist that gave me a cut that I 100% was satisfied with...heck even 75% I'd have been happy with. Didn't matter if it was a higher end salon or a bargain Sunday paper coupon salon, recommended or not, I have had just average cuts, uneven cuts, horrid blunt cuts which don't work with my hair type, or have had stylists who just do what they want to do despite what I have asked for...usually the unflattering on me blunt cut bob, and double whammy if it was cut unevenly to boot. I've been growing out such a cut I got a few months ago but was really looking shaggy so I decided to try Look After. I am so glad I did! I was lucky enough to get Sarah who did a phenomenal job! She listened to my concerns and what I wanted, she took her time with the cut and gave me a cut that actually works with my hair texture and temperament! I got my hair done there today and left in tears. The staff were very friendly, hence the two stars. When I booked the appt I told the lady that I spoke with I wanted a bayalage. I don't think the stylist I was set up with knew how to perform the technique. I now have striped roots, some chunky highlights and a reddish/orange tint to my hair. Like I stated above, everyone there was super friendly. They offered to have someone else look at it when I was paying to leave but I was too upset by that point. I will say that when I called I wanted an appt pretty quickly because I had some unexpected time off work but I would have rather waited for a stylist that was more familiar with the technique. read more

Ian was able to get me in right away, was super nice, and did a great job on my hair-i can tell he loves his job and I could tell it was important for him to make sure I looked great when I left the salon. I enjoyed my experience here, I had a groupon or I don't think i would have went here, especially when I found out a regular male haircut was almost $20 and I enjoy giving a good tip when I like my haircut so that would be a little expensive in the end. unless another groupon comes out I will probably be avoiding this place but that's sad because I had a pretty good experience, I just already have another place I regular at... but I would recommend this place to a friend :) read more

Ian and the entire staff at LookAfter are friendly and professional. I've lived in this area for more than eight years and could never find a stylist who could cut my hair the way I wanted it to be cut. I'm thankful to have found Ian. He does a great job on both haircuts and brow waxing. Plus, the staff is always super friendly. And you can't beat the price. Considering the fact that I was beginning to look l like an extra from Game of Thrones, I decided to get a haircut. Googled local places when I was in O'Fallon and went based on the reviews. Walked in with no wait. Ian gave me possibly the best haircut I've ever had. It seems that every barber I went too wanted to discuss politics or fishing and I'd inevitably get a haircut that looked just like theirs. Not the case this time. My wife and I were both happy with the results (which rarely happens!) I'll be returning here when I'm passing through. I almost considered knocking it down to 4 stars because of something most chains seem to do. Throwing a myriad of offers at you (such as "Fart the national anthem of Paraguay on Tuesdays and receive 5% off!") and it has always annoyed me. Ian was amazing, great colorist and did and amazing consultation with me before doing anything to my hair. I am extremely picky, and I can't even tell you in words how thrilled I am with the way my hair turned out. Highly recommend going to see him. Definitely worth the time and money. Ian has cut my hair twice and taken off the exact amount I asked for, not too short but just enough to get the split ends off. He recently fixed my hair color and it has not faded in 2 weeks. I've been to several hairdressers at reputable salons and they were not able to get my hair from blue nude to a normal brown color, but Ian got it right. I've gotten so many compliments and my hair is much healthier. I recommend them! And their prices are very reasonable-(which I think customers should make up for in a tip- bc these employees earn it) read more
