This is a very peaceful and clean salon. I called and came in as a walk in and was served right away. The pedicure was relaxing and the foot scrub they used smelled so good, similar to cucumber. I'll definitely be back again for a pedi and possibly a mani. Only complaint are the pedicure chairs. They aren't that comfortable and the massage seemed to only focus on my head which took away from the relaxation. I'd love a full back massage, heat or neck focused chair. read more

Pros: Clean Large variety of gel colors Doesn't smell like acrylics Cons: Small variety of regular polish Skimpy on the massage For what you get the prices seem high I got a spa pedicure with gel polish last time and today I got the charcoal and bamboo pedicure with regular polish. Both times I really felt the leg and foot massages were lacking. Pedicures are cool too look nice but I really do them for the relaxation. And in this area, they really miss the mark. The pedicure is advertised with a bamboo stick massage, but hit stones were used instead. And they were more rubbed on my legs not really a massaged. place smells great, first ever nail salon to not stink of chemicals. impressive! they accepted me as a walk in twice, and my wait was not long at all either time (& once the shop was BUSY). also military discount, wootwoot i wanted acrylic, but was convinced into getting gel (which i did not regret!). it didn't hurt, the guy who did my nails was very gentle. great music. cute hand washing area. i rollerskate and these nails did not fall off (i wouldn't refill more than once after a freshset, price was about the same both times) they charged about $5 per nail, $25or more per design. im new to getting my nails done but i don't really have any complaints. couldnt find the green i wanted in gel colors, (dark sage), but they have a pretty wide selection of colors. the coffin cut did seem a bit uneven throughout my nails at first, but i suppose it wasnt noticeable. i got so many compliments, even from complete strangers! i wont be trusting any place else to do my nails, i found my go to spot they dont talk crap about you in another language (or at least i havent heard them do so to me or any one around me, which is something i used to ALWAYS experience at the nail salon!) refreshing experience read more

I came in after leaving another nail shop that I was dissatisfied with, there was a short wait but I was able to walk in (between appointments). I believe Summer did my nails. I asked for a no chip manicure, however it was suggested that I get the dip powder because my nails were pretty weak. I usually don't like dip over the gel polish because it's too thick. Summer even mentioned the thickness before I could and she did an amazing job. I got black dip, with a matte finish; they almost look like press on nails. They are neat, strong and not too thick. The only downfall is that I don't live in the area, so I can't frequent the place as I would like however whenever I come in town and need my nails done, this will be my go to place! I was in town for a wedding and decided to go to TAJ based on the current reviews and a recommendation from my sister. Seemed reliable enough but I wasn't "wowed" by any means. Going to a salon that isn't your normal place is always uneasy but again based upon the reviews and posted photos I felt comfortable enough choosing this salon. Went in about half hour after they opened on a Thursday and didn't require an appointment nor did I wait long to have my pedicure started. I brought my own polish that I would be using for my toes and had pictures of the color I was looking for on my nails. The woman who greeted me was helping me look for a similar color and then told me it doesn't exist, it's the lighting in the photo. You might not have it, but it does exist because I've had it applied to my nails multiple times. So I settled on a color I wasn't too thrilled about and started my pedicure. The pedicure was fine, nothing outstanding but maybe that's because I only chose the basic pedicure. When it was time for my nails, one person started and right before the painting started somebody else took over. Which is kind of annoying. I ended up showing the nail color picture to both of the people who were working on my nails and we couldn't find a similar color. I still wasn't sold on the color but didn't want the hassle of going to another salon. I will say the actual manicure was good and I appreciate the detail of taking care of the cuticles, which doesn't always happen when you get a dip manicure in my experience. However during the cuticle removal she snipped to hard and I was bleeding on my thumb. She got out the green stuff that helps you stop and dabbed it onto my thumb with a Qtip. But then put that Qtip on the counter, which isn't very sanitary. I was EXTREMELY nervous during the dipping process because my nails were coming out SUPER sparkly. I thought about asking her to stop but chose not to. Luckily the color was not sparkling in the end and had a more subtle sparkle to them. Since I don't live locally, I won't be back again. And I think I was unhappy from the beginning just because they didn't have the selection of colors I'm use to at my normal salon. I was so disappointed because all of the reviews were amazing. I didn't want coffin nails, I asked for square but I still wanted the ombré to have a little bit of a curve to resemble French nails. I hate them and I paid $52, not knowing that they offered military discount when my friend only paid $35 for the exact same thing. New set, ombré (which is extra), but hers were coffin nails. I had called and asked if they could refund me that extra money or put that towards my future fill and I was told no. But they would apply the discount for future services. Which is fine, I understand. I had dropped my dad off at the airport and headed to TAJ nails. Was told it would be a 30 minute wait, fantastic. Time goes on and by the time I finally get someone to be available, it had been an hour and 10 minutes but again, the reviews were great so it wasn't a big deal. The older man never told me to wash my hands or anything so I assumed he would file my nails and then I'd wash them. No. But the person who arrived after me was told immediately, "you'll be sitting here. Wash your hands over there first" by one of the ladies. The man didn't even file my nails or touch them up, I assume because I was getting acrylics? He sanded them down but my left thumb nail had ripped so I thought he would clip it off, again he did not. My original nails weren't filed, they had gunk under them, there are BLACK spots on my nails because it was clear he did not wash the brushes he used on my nails. There was this red tape around whatever he was putting on my nails that he used a rubber band to secure which was weird to me? Could have been easier for him to grip though. I feel like he would have done a better job on my nails if it was when they opened rather than after he's done a ton of nails. I do plan on getting my fill done here and will update my review once I do, but I will be requesting someone else. I'll also be going shortly after they open. Overall, these were not worth $52 and I don't think I'll ever get ombré nails again. read more

I got the Spa Pedi for $27 this morning. She paid a lot of attention to detail! I had pain from my nail in my left toe and she helped that a lot too! It's clean and really cute in here. My go to nail spot! I love coming here and typically don't have to wait long at all. This is the first place where they actually massage your feet and legs for a solid 10 mins. They also use actual essential oils and herbs with their aromatherapy which is something I've never seen before. I have usually just been to locations where they use scented lotions and that's it (which is fine as well). Let me start by saying I get pedicures twice a month or more and have for several years. I've visited countless nail salons and am always on the hunt for the best one. While visiting my sister in IL, I stumbled on TAJ and every single part of the experience was pleasant and outstanding. The shop is pretty, smells nice and is clean. They took their time on my nails making sure the shape, polish and experience was perfect. I can't say enough about this salon and will visit every time I'm in STL. I brought my own regular Essie polish and so far there have been no chips for 5 days and counting. The pedicure and the price is excellent. My tech was the owner and his wife but all of the technicians seemed highly capable and pleasant. Great job, TAJ owners! Love the pride you take in your local business. I picked my color and soaked in my warm water the gentleman doing my toes made them look fantastic even without the pastel yellow I had picked.
