We were hungry and tried to stop at a few places without luck. We didn't realize that it would be so busy on a Sunday for MSU women's basketball. It was nice to see all the love. We were lucky that we arrived just as a couple was leaving the bar so we were able to be seated. They were slammed! But the bartender didn't miss a beat! When I hear pub I think super basic but hearty food with alcohol. Well that's a lie after visiting Front 43! Their food is top tier dining level! I could not believe it starting right with the apps! The burnt ends and slaw was amazing! The look of the Nashville hot chicken sandwich threw me off a bit but the flavor did not! I asked for a side salad instead of fries yet it came with fries by accident and I was surprised how good they were since I don't like Parmesan! Nice fresh hand cut fries with flavor that just popped! The food was so good I forgot to take a pic of all the food before it was gone! The menu is a perfect mix of fusion for two pages then two pages of just sushi!! The perfect mix with sports and bar feel on one side and diner vibes on the other. Front 43 and Cask & Co (they're connected!) are such a hidden gem with a crazy good and surprisingly wide menu. There's seriously something for everyone--whether you're craving sushi, burgers, or something in between. Let me just say: the MSU Roll is 100% hands down amazing. So good, so fresh, so flavorful--I would absolutely have it again. The French fries were hot and crispy, and the ranch they serve with it has a flavor I can't quite place, but it's addicting and delicious. Whatever it is, it works. I also had the Millions of Peaches beer, and it was the perfect summer drink--light, fruity, refreshing, and went down way too easily. The bar is huge, and there's plenty of outdoor seating for those beautiful Michigan nights. Whether you're at Front 43 or Cask & Co, the vibe is welcoming and chill, with lots of seating options depending on your mood. Posting on here due to my post being deleted on Google. My husband and i would always make a stop a front 43 during our date nights until an incident occurred over the weekend that was very disturbing. As we were enjoying our meal we overheard along with a few other tables around our area someone repetitively screaming "who the F*** turned on this N****R music, who the F*** turned on this N****R music, I'm going to fire whoever decided to play this N****r music in my restaurant. We were all in disbelief along with being very disturbed as my husband and I are a couple of African American decent. We wanted to speak to management and have the customer removed from the perimeter until we later on found out that the person using the racial slurs was the lead manager Kurt. This is very unprofessional and should not be tolerated in any industry. I hope as a past business owner, this does not get pushed under the rug and is dealt with immediately. We will NOT be coming back until the manager Kurt is removed from his duties at Front 43. Racism should never be present, especially in a multicultural restaurant. read more

So I came in for a few beverages and some food. Got a spicy tuna roll for an app, it was actually fantastic. Then had a drink or two and ordered then decided I wanted to take my food to go. Got the Olive burger, okay it's delicious. But get no cheddar lets the Olive sauce speak because it's that good, lol. All and all great service. Will never return. Rude service from the git. On a Sat in June about 6p, party of three, was told by host that no seating was available for the rest of the night. Tables and bar seats were open. Was told those were reserved but they don't take reservations or have a waiting list- odd. No offer to get take out either. Add the fact that one in our party is completely mobile but visibly autistic, it did not sit well. We were turned away and in a rude manner. This business is not deserving of any business. Will never return and will share my story widely. The best businesses worthy of patronage are those that solve problems, not the ones that created more problems. read more

Good place to hang out and catch up with friends! I came here for St. Patrick's Day with a large group of people and their young kids and we all had a great time. The service was really fast too. Ok this was a little confusing. We went to Cask and Co for dinner for the first time. The hostess said there were no tables available but we could check on the other side. We asked for clarification and she walked us to a separate door into Front 43. Said they use the same menu. Cask and Co looked like a restaurant with a bar. But Front 43 looked like a bar. Much noisier and more casual. But a table was open so we sat down. The menu was via QR code - not my favorite but whatever. The options were varied and we each found several things that interested us. The server was very kind and friendly. Food didn't take very long considering how busy they were. Food presentation was definitely more restaurant than bar, which was a nice surprise. Only 2 small complaints on the food... The spicy chicken sandwich was maybe a touch too spicy, and the menu didn't mention a sauce on the hibachi chicken but it was very coated in a sauce. It would have been helpful to know in advance due to some dietary preferences. But it tasted very good. Overall we had a good dinner. This seems to be a popular place for friends to gather in groups. If you like a nicer style bar with big tvs, lots of drink options, and a nice food menu, you should check this place out. If you prefer a quieter dining experience try Cask and Co next door. PS: There was a 2% fee on our bill for credit card use but we intended to pay cash. It was not a big deal but just thought worth mentioning. read more

This is a strip mall bar that tries MUCH too hard to be "fancy". Food is ok but WAY overpriced ($13 appetizer for deconstructed bruschetta, $17 for a basic burger, $14 for a simple quesadilla). Drink prices have gone up significantly in the past couple months also, $8 for a simple mixed drink. Management is absolutely awful. This restaurant had a relaxed vibe that had our reserved table for 12 ready when we arrived. Tried several different apps and dinners since we were a larger party. Shrimp tacos, mushroom and cheese pizza, hamburgers, steak, salad with salmon and the Spartan sushi were terrific! The reason I gave the rating a 4 would be because service was a tad slow (for drinks and refills) but the food came out fairly quickly and was excellent. Our server was friendly and accommodating. We will definitely return as it is very close to MSU's campus and it has a variety of menu choices...with a great atmosphere. read more

I hate to be the first review for this place because I've got bad news, it wasn't awesome. I went with friends a couple of Fridays ago at around 8pm. I had driven past a couple of times, and subsequently Googled. What I can say is that their Facebook page is super festive (and active) and their website is on trend with the cool kids-- but that energy is completely missing from the bar. It's one of those long and narrow bars like in NYC. Huge TVs playing sports-ish things. I sports-ish because the night we went in, the World Series was on and not a single television was playing it before we asked. However, there was documentary about baseball playing on two screens... Any way, they have a nice list of craft beers and then a full bar of everything else. The crowd was completely miscellaneous and dont think this place has it's character or personality yet. Our waitress was really short with us, acting as though it was busy--which was not the case. To give it the full Yelp go, we also ordered a couple of their 'Small Plates'... two things--- 1.) The buffalo wings were SPLENDID-- I gave two stars for the wings as a standalone. And let me say, I am some kind of wing connoisseur, and their wings...mmhmm. 2.) The Calamari looked like mozzarella sticks (see pictures) in the scariest possible way, and we tasted them any way (gahh), completely weird all around. I dont want to say anything about them anymore. I can't say I will go back (except to get wings togo), it was just a mediocre experience all around. Reminds me a lot of an airport bar, but like if you had a layover at Walgreens before running the rest of your errands. So my wife and I decided to stop here on our way back from up north because it was billed on bringfido.com as dog friendly and you can "have a beer alongside your dog at any of the four outdoor tables". I'm actually quite pleased with the place as it really IS cozy and fun and offers many craft selections, but we were told upon sitting down that dogs are technically not allowed on the patio but rather outside the gate. All in all the server did offer water for our dog and we did enjoy our beers with the dog within the gated area so all is good. However, if anybody would've complained he would've have had to leave the area. Dog situation aside the place is inviting and comfortable and super clean and updated. I would recommend this place to anybody driving by down 127 to stop by for a pint. read more

Food: Not bad, but not great. My first meal here was Fish & Chips, which was hot and crispy, but under-seasoned. Next time I branched out with roasted pork nachos. The pork was again under-seasoned, but very tender. The toppings were of decent quality, but some of them were just kind of heaped in the middle. Overall the menu is pretty safe, and prices are reasonable. With better execution it could be a good complement to a few beers. Drink: I can only speak to the tap selection, and it is not bad at all. In a lesser beer city it would be downright fantastic, but Lansing/EL offers some great craft selections at places like Crunchy's, Beggar's Banquet, HopCat, either Reno's, or Zoobie's. Front 43 won't compete with a Crunchy's or Reno's on the breadth of selection, but it could take inspiration from Beggar's or Zoobie's and carefully curate its taps. On one recent visit, there were two raspberry brews, several selections from the same brewer, and more than one imperial stout (wait, did I just complain about that?). I wouldn't mind seeing the list spread out a little more over styles and breweries. Atmosphere: Front 43 is a long, narrow pub with the bar on one side and high-top tables on the other. The decor is modern and very clean, but maybe a little generic. A wall of B1G helmets over the taps is a nice addition. Each time I've visited, Front 43 has been dead, dead, dead. I have not been in this bar with more than 6 other people. Service is right around what you'd expect with a slower bar - a little lax, with most attention being paid to friends or regulars. With a wall of TVs and a narrow pub layout, this place could be a perfect spot to watch the football games or any other sporting event, so I hope business picks up for that. read more

They call themselves a neighborhood pub, but that genuine neighborhood ambiance feels a bit sparse when you're in a strip mall overlooking some of Lansing's worst commercial intersections. Appreciate the effort, guys. Front 43 works with Xiao, which is next door, to have a limited sushi menu. So if for some reason you've been wishing upon ever star for a spot to watch five games at once while also having craft brew and sushi at the same time, your wish is finally granted. It could've been world peace or a cure for cancer. But hey, you wanted a spicy tuna roll at a sports bar that has more TVs than tables, who am I to judge. read more

Based on my single visit during a recent business trip to Lansing, Front 43 is a solid sports bar with daily deals on beer (I had an excellent wheat for just three bucks), a zillion screens, and an interesting menu. I didn't try any of the food (I had already eaten) but folks I chatted with at the bar gave the kitchen high marks. The availability of sushi at a sports bar was a new one for me, and if I ever have a chance to return I would definitely give it a whirl. Prices were reasonable (I bought a shot for everyone at the bar when I wrongly thought the Dodgers were about to win Game 2 of the 2017 World Series and the total was under $50), the staff friendly, and the vibe relaxed. Best of all? It was within walking distance of the Quality Inn where I was staying. My only beef was how bright it was in there. Went here tonight for the first time. There was a group of four of us and we were able to find a seat without a problem. The server came right over to our table and answered any questions we had regarding the decent sized beer menu and other drink menu. I had a burger which was cooked perfect and was obviously fresh. Others that I was with had a quesadilla, fish&chips and the wings. Everyone was satisfied with their food. Oh and the french fries are a must. I really wanted to like this place. The location is great. That space has been lacking a good bar since Jimmy's Pub moved. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. On my first visit, we arrived to find that the biggest TV was set to Wizard of Oz instead of one of the many games that were on that night and the sound for Wizard of Oz was blaring throughout. The bartender was singing along to all of the songs instead of paying attention to the customers. Another employee was sitting at the end of the bar eating food from the place next door, which should've been our first clue. I ordered the pita bread and hummus and the pizza bread was burnt. My boyfriend ordered the mac and cheese, which had onions liberally mixed in, despite the fact that onions were not listed on the menu nor pictured in their frequent advertisements on facebook. My boyfriend is allergic to onions and there were too many to pick around. He sent it back and ordered fries instead. The bartender (between singing along to Wizard of Oz) yelled at us for sending it back and stated that we should have told her about any allergies before we ordered. Obviously, since there was no indication that onions were even a possibility on mac and cheese, that didn't come up. We explained that to her and told her that she probably shouldn't treat customers that way. She responded by saying that she was in the right because she was a hospitality major, so she knew what she was doing. Worst. Service. Ever. The fries that came out to replace the mac and cheese were burnt as well, but at that point we were already done with this place. The manager noticed our displeasure and apologized for her bartender's actions and gave us a gift card to try them again. Eventually we took my parents there for a beer to use the gift card. The $2 Two-Hearted beers that they advertise so much weren't fresh and didn't taste good at all. Then, when I tried to use the gift card that was given to me, it had no value on it.
