I am incredibly disappointed with our experience at Buddie's Pub and Grill. The red flags started immediately when the initial plates brought out to our table were visibly dirty.Things only got worse when the food arrived. I ordered the chicken strips, and they were completely unpalatable. They tasted heavily of old, burnt ash and smoke, which means the kitchen is failing to maintain and change their fryer oil.I chose not to cause a scene or ruin a nice dinner while my family was at the table. Instead, I waited until they left and went out of my way to speak with the manager privately and respectfully. Rather than taking accountability for serving poor-quality food on dirty dinnerware, the manager hid behind rigid policy. They refused to offer a refund or an adjustment because the meal was partially eaten.Eating half a meal to see if it gets any better isn't an endorsement of quality--it's a customer trying to make the best of a bad dish. Waiting to speak to management privately was a courtesy to the business, not an admission of satisfaction.To make matters worse, I ended up losing over $20 on a meal I only expected to cost around $15 due to unexpected upcharges on the final bill. Paying a premium to eat burnt food in an unsanitary environment while being dismissed by management is unacceptable.I still have my physical receipt to prove my visit. It is highly disappointing to see a local, family-owned business treat paying customers with such disregard. We will not be returning, and I strongly advise others to look elsewhere for dinner. read more

The menu needs to be redone. Under burgers - spinach was listed which you would think was a meat burger with spinach and feta on top. An olive burger is not all olives and no meat. This was all spinach and no meat. Please put this burger under vegaterian. read more

The perfect place to land after a long travel day from LA. Very chill and welcoming atmosphere with a more mature crowd (i.e., no MSU students). Really extensive menu and nice selection of craft beers on tap. Getting to watch the Lions game with a committed crew was an added bonus! read more

So, I'm kind of absolutely in love with this Buddies. They do everything right, from the changing daily specials, to reliable favorites. They're also super good for just about any crowd - drinks after work with co-workers, casual lunch, or entertaining young children. I do like going to Family owned Restaurants. They usually have a nice varied menu & the prices are affordable.

The food was made incorrectly, and the only option the server gave was to give the side of the missing item, which we said no to, and we requested to have the item discounted. I love this place. My kids REALLY love it. My wife is ambivalent. It's always good, and by Lansing/E Lansing standards it's phenomenal. This is our go-to when I don't want to cook. We stopped here for lunch after searching for something in an unfamiliar area. The bartender was really nice and all of the food was good. The pickle fries were literally the best we've ever had!!! Homestyle food, had a decent cobb salad, open face sandwich, drink machine didn't work right so drinks were flat, ladies next to us coughed up a storm, and tables were dirty. Recent transplant from Denver. This was my first experience in the Lansing area. The staff atmosphere and food was really good and the place is very inviting. I've stopped in 3 times in just my 12 days here. Tons of TVs on the walls playing all the great daily games too. Only reason for only 4 stars and not 5 is I was disappointed w it being a pub they've no billiard tables. Not a huge deal breaker, but a good pint over a game is always a great night. Buddies has handled Covid 19 like no other. They clean the bathrooms frequently and wipe down the menus and tables after each use very thoroughly. There nachos are delicious, burgers are great and Monday Night Wing special is incredible. Give this place a try you won't regret it. The service is amazing and they are on there A game. It's a dive bar/sports bar, with actually really good food. If your the yuppie type you may not like the atmosphere but for typical sports bar patrons this place is pretty good. An average bar with a few perks. To begin, the nearby competition for this bar is non-existent, and while it's odd to see this place among houses, it's great if you're in the area. The beer selection wasn't the best, but the server was able to recommend some good ones that went well with my burger (which, by the way, was surprisingly adequate). number of visits ~ 5 last visit ~ summer 2012 I used to live right down the street from this Buddies. It's a bit hidden on Lake Lansing near Hagadorn. I find this place to be very average. I've never been very impressed with the beer, but the food is reasonable. Many people enjoy their appetizers in particular. I've had interesting experiences when it comes to frequenting this bar and having an out-of-state ID. I had just moved from Ohio and because of the out of state driver's license, they made me provide three forms of ID. But they're not consistent with this. When a friend of mine came in later with a Wisconsin ID, she only had to provide one form of ID. I guess it just depends on the server and how strictly they are enforcing the policy at the time. This isn't really a bad thing, it can just be annoying/inconvenient. The one plus about this Buddies is that it is pretty much the only bar in this neighborhood (near Lake Lansing and Hagadorn). That's why I would occasionally go. But in my opinion there are much better bars if you don't mind traveling a few miles. read more

Went here for a quick dinner and a draft beer. The beer was flat and I could tell they dont keep their beer lines clean. Jimmy's and Roadhouse are better options nearby and don't serve flat beer. I told the waitress about the beer and her response was that I drank to much of it for her to take it off the tab. The bar is surrounded by Hot Shot Pest Strips. This type of insect poison is not to be used in any place inhabited with humans, it literally says that on the labeling. These insect strips are made for barns, empty houses, attics.... Not in a restaurant. Next time u are in there check them out they r nailed up all around the bar then google them to see how powerful and toxic they really are. We have enjoyed Buddy's on three occasions over the past two months. I have had the half-order nacho's (I added beans to the garden nacho's) - very good and more than enough for one person. I had the vegetarian burger and sweet potato fries - again very good. Lastly, I had the 8 oz. Steak and sweet potato fries - delicious! The steak was done to my perfection. The reason for only four stars is the house wines. I had a sub par house Chardonnay and a sub par Pinot Grigio. There are plenty of inexpensive wines in both of these categories to find better house wines. Yes, there is a KJ Chardonnay on the menu, but let's step up the house side please. read more

Very friendly staff and warm, inviting setting inside. Lunch, on a Thursday, wasn't busy so I don't know what it's really like on the weekends. However, their food was a nice surprise. We mistimed our arrival for dinner in terms of having to get to a previous appt. We were seated quickly and our server (Kelly) did an excellent job of taking our order and helping to insure we got out quickly (brought check when meal was served etc). I had the chicken kabobs (large order, served with the skewer removed) and my partner had bleu cheese steak salad. Both meals were good sized. Although not a white table cloth type of place it was more than my definition of a dive bar (at least in the dining area). Family friendly in the early evening with what appeared to be a good number of regulars. My first visit, but we'll return. read more
