This store is located in a large shopping plaza, plenty of parking in front. The store itself is well organized and breaks down about 50%/50% between clothing and home goods. Up front as you come in you will find some furniture and plenty of interesting pieces. There is usually one or two displays in the front windows. On the left side of the store you will find a nice selection of decor pieces, kitchenware and other assorted housewares. The right side of the store is women's clothes up front with men's clothes in the back. The clothes are generally of real high quality, the prices are a bit higher than most other stores, but if you go on Thursday the prices are 50% off. Each day of the week has a different discount deal. While I don't always find something I want, when I do it is usually very cool. I did find a small stained glass lamp in a Frank Llyod Wright style and a cool little carved stone figure. Overall the Brookpark store has some really nice products and you can find some great finds. Common Threads Brookpark is a very well organized and well stocked thrift store; it almost feels like you are not at a thrift store but you can definitely find some really great buys. They do a really nice job of presenting the products and keep the store well stocked and looking good. May not be the place to find the best values, but you can find some great buys.

During my first visit, the shop had a sale that extended to the sidewalk. I stopped in after hearing about this shop's sidewalk sale on IG. Layout: The first floor of the shop is mostly dedicated to men's and women's clothing and home decor (lamps, statues, and furnishings). The basement includes nostalgic items (such as trolls and Disney memorabilia), furniture, and clothes. Be sure to pause on the stairs leading to the basement to take mirror selfies and to shop for funky mirrors. The store is really an eclectic mix of unique pieces (such as African wood carvings), vintage accent pieces (such as funky yellow faux leather chair), and modern clothing (such as dresses from Ross). It's like a flea market meets discount store. Prices: Prices are absolutely all over the place from $20 for a wicker basket to $595 for a vintage chair. Most prices didn't make sense to me in terms of condition and price. Almost all items are clearly marked with the price. I didn't make any purchases after browsing the store for a while since everything seemed pricey or not necessarily matching my style/too outdated. I didn't see any deeply discounted items during the sale. Customer Service: Customer service was pretty friendly and employees social. Although I've noticed a shadow while browsing the store which was unpleasant. Parking: Parking is available at the back of the store, parking lot is shared with nearby businesses. There are also limited number of spots available in front of the store (usually busy on weekends). Events. Check out the store's Instagram for upcoming events such as sales and clothing swaps. I would recommend this store if you want to spruce up your space with unique handmade furnishings or art. Especially when it comes to global accent needs. The store is less appealing for clothes. Most clothing is equivalent of thrift finds at a higher price point.

I want to tell the world all about it. AMBIANCE: The shop has exposed brick walls, gorgeous wall shelves with treasures, vintage furniture, and two rooms of home decor. The space is so perfectly staged that you can walk in, feel at home, and envision how the pieces would fit into your own home. The atmosphere is always peaceful, time just stands still here. INVENTORY: There's so much treasure here - furniture (mostly couches), comfy blankets, home decor, books, palo santo, cards, candles, and accessories. The pieces seem expertly selected and are in great condition. During my many visits I found all kinds of gems - earrings, palo santo, and more. Prices are somewhere in the middle between thrift and vintage. You can always find budget-friendly items. Shopping is available in person, online, and on Etsy. SERVICE: Service here is like hugging your hands around a hot cup of tea. Very warm and friendly. One of the owners Chelsea always remembers you, and strikes up a conversation. I always feel so welcome in this space and greatly appreciate the hospitality. EVENTS: The store hosts book clubs with Novel Enrichment generally reading very moody and refined literature. The owner, Mary, is a wonderful woman who curates an amazing selection of price points on vintage and newer items. When I worked in downtown Cleveland, I would stop in here on a regular basis to browse (vintage hunting is my happy place). I can get lost for a while opening the drawers, perusing the racks and sorting through the intricate and super cool tables of elaborate jewelry, decor, clothes, accessories and odd but special trinkets. Once Mary gets to know you, she'll keep an eye out for things you might like. She once gave me first dibs on a beautiful Louis Vuitton Pochette I had been looking for. I've purchased several gorgeous fur coats from Mary that are favorites in my collections, and she sometimes will call me if she has a new piece she senses may be my style. That type of personalized attention rarely exists anymore. I also have a Celtic-inspired citrine ring and other accessories that became easy favorites. I love stopping through Gems to either treat myself, or, during the holidays, find one-of-a-kind gifts for friends and family. This store is large, clean and well organized with a great staff and is always fun to shop at. Every week there are two discount colors, one is half price and the other is 75% off, which makes for some great deals. Prices overall are very reasonable and the selection is very good. The store is strongest for clothes and shoes, I have found many great and interesting suit jackets and dress shirts, including some colorful tux jackets. On my most recent visit I found a high-quality mesh motorcycle jacket for $10 and a really nice pair of Rockport shoes for $2.50 with the discount. The selection is always diverse with plenty of quality brands and items. You can usually find a decent amount of items that are the discount color even in the middle or end of the week. The store also has a nice selection of electronics, kitchenware, art, décor and bric a brac. I always seem to find some interesting items and spend quite a bit of time looking around. I have found plenty of items that I would not expect. The real jewel of the store is up front by the registers, they have glass cases with great jewelry and behind them shelves with higher end items that have been donated. If looking for some higher end items this is the place to check out. VOA Thrift is a great place to thrift, shop or just check out. The store is open early and late which allows for thrifting even if you have to work during the day. Definitely worth checking out.

In fact, I was planning to go to TJ Maxx. I detoured once I saw this store. I love North Olmsted location and was hoping for a similar shopping experience. STORE: The store has a lot of open space and sufficient room to roam. The front of the store has staging - cute women's fall outfits (like orange and corduroy skirts, and fall sweaters). There is also a table setup with Thanksgiving inspo. You'll also find clearance racks at the front of the store. The remaining space has clothing, accessories, sleepwear, books, home decor, and glass stand with jewelry. The store is well organized so that you can easily dig for treasure. If you're familiar with the North Olmsted store, expect for this one to be more modern. However, it has less space and inventory. Also, significantly less deals. INVENTORY: The inventory here is a mix of quality finds and things that lived in the attic for years. Some things are like new (like clutches and purses). Other things are really wrinkly and dated. The prices at this store are outrageous. The North Olmsted location has some finds for just few bucks which I can always justify purchasing. Here I found some surprising prices like an empty bourbon bottle for $5.99, clutch for $7.99, and other strange pricing. Simply put, you can go to competitors' stores around the area and procure new merchandise for less. The inventory is final sale - no refunds or returns. I will say that the book inventory here is well organized and pretty diverse. Lots of pretty good books for adults and children. You won't find best sellers but there are some recognizable titles. MY FINDS: I was interested in a few things. I was eyeing a brown purse but could not justify $9.99 for a used find with no brand name. I purchased a few things: two books, one scarf, and a beret. The scarf was Russian style and gorgeous. One of my items had a tag sale and I got a few bucks off my purchase which was nice. SERVICE: Service is not too friendly. I interacted with a few associates at this store and none were nice. The checkout associate observed me looking at scarves for a little too long indicating that probably there is some loss prevention issue at this store. I didn't appreciate that. PARKING: There is a spacious parking lot at the front of the store. At the time of this review there was construction and obstructions. If you go on weekends, there might be challenges associated with finding parking spots. The shopping area has a cluster of popular stores. I haven't yet decided whether I'd visit this store again. Probably more negative than affirmative. I wasn't satisfied with the value, quality of merchandise, and service. I might stop in the distant future to look for books.

I made a special trip to drive all the way here today only to find that they have no Sunday hours…read more I honestly don't know how these small businesses plan to stay in business very long when they are not available for their customers. Who has time to go vintage shopping on a Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock? Probably not many people since everyone Hass to work for a living so being available when your customers need you and are willing to spend their money is imperative in my opinion. Retail should be about taking your customers money when it's convenient for them to give it to you not when it's convenient for you to take it.
