I hired Paint Bros after Justin…read moresmooth-talked me during an estimate conversation and I expected to get what he promised - a professional job done by respectful crews who would treat my home as their own. Instead, I was left with moisture issues in my home that I'm still assessing the severity of, product all over my light fixtures and floors, and garbage (energy drink cans, a half-eaten sandwich left on the counter). They cranked my heating system up so high that the humidity rose in my house to 100%, due in part to the fact that they didn't reopen the vents they had closed while plastering. There was so much moisture in the air that a pool of water formed on the floor protection because it couldn't absorb anymore, and the windows were fogged up in every single room as you can see. On the advice of another contractor, I've already had to purchase a commercial dehumidifier to remediate the issues they've caused and it's barely been 24 hours since I let them go. I fired Paint Bros on the third day of the job, after speaking with Justin on the second day and raising issues to be solved that were not. While I originally appreciated his willingness to refund my initial deposit and his promise to me on the day they cleaned out their equipment that I would not be charged for any additional services, his partner Jake quickly walked this back. He called me from a number that showed up as The Yoga Tree on ID to tell me that they would, actually, be sending me an invoice. He tried to say I am the only unhappy customer they've ever had. I'm perfectly willing to admit that I was irate when he called and didn't handle it well, and that's on me. My New Jersey mouth got the best of me at 8:30 this morning. But, my New Jersey BS detector is still perfectly functional and these guys are more likely to be suppressing bad reviews than delivering quality services every time. I should add, the brown floor covering in these photos was laid by me before they even started because my hardwood floors were recently refinished. Part of the quote I received from them initially clearly breaks out extensive prep, and yet none of it happened. The fact that they couldn't bother to do anything additional says it all. Justin's offer to have a cleaning crew come to my house after they packed up their gear was declined because I just couldn't trust that anything they would do for me, directly or indirectly, would be handled with care. In my experience, they will hide behind the fact that they are a small business and try to gaslight you because, look at their glowing reviews! But I have to wonder... their crews had finished another job early right before mine. Was it because they were so efficient, or did someone else go through what I did as well?

Here's the gist: If you're sick and tired of never hearing back from contractors, of being unhappy with the work they did or dealing with idiots who should never be allowed to interact with others, you need to contact Plank and Pine. Teagan is the most competent and professional carpenter I've ever met. He replied promptly. He showed up when promised. His work was second to none. And he's smart and easy to work with.
