I absolutely love the color and highlights that Lilly performs on my hair. I love her work so much that I actually drive up from San Jose just to have her work her magic on my hair. Keep in mind that there are plenty of good colorists in San Jose, but what sets Lilly apart is her technique and attention to detail, especially on my highlights. She actually takes the time to advise clients on what highlight shade would complement their hair color. Her highlights are the perfect size and width so they blend into the hair without looking to chunky or funky. They actually highlight the cut and style of my hair and looks classy instead of trashy. Lilly is also very patient and listen to what a client actually wants and she proceeds with caution when doing any work on my hair. I am pretty picky with my hair. She never rushes me and there have been a few times where I did not feel like getting highlights at the initial coloring appointment. I then change my mind after she is finished coloring, blow drying, and styling my hair. She always accommodates me by not making me feel bad when I do decide I want to add highlights after all. It costs her more time and effort, but she is always willing to go the extra mile to make her clients happy. She is always upbeat and cheerful and seeing her every few months to work on my hair is always exciting. I will definitely post a picture of the work she has done on my hair. BTW: I love the fact that she has so many great hair products that are Buy 1, Get 1 Free! The prices are practically wholesale since she has so much inventory. My sister is a retired cosmetologist but still has an active license. I would often nag her to go to the professional wholesale supply store so I do know what these products costs. By going to Lilly to get my hair done AND to get hair products at wholesale, is very convenient! I got the Groupon for me and my boyfriend I haven't been this happy with a haircut in so long. She's amazing and so close to my home. I bought a Groupon for this salon and let the woman who made my appointment know I had one then I went there today to get my hair done and the stylist told me that the person who had posted that Groupon had left the salon before thanksgiving (I bought mine after that) and that she couldn't honor it. I had to have my mom leave work early so she could watch my daughter while I went in and I didn't even get my hair done .. I made an appointment a week in advance to get my hair cut and styled on a Thursday morning. I showed up a few minutes before 10 am (my appointment time) and the salon was locked up, no lights on. I knocked on the door, tried calling a few times, there was no answer (not even a voicemail). The sign on their door says they open at 9:30. I waited about 15 minutes, until 10 minutes after 10. When nobody arrived to open the shop I left, VERY disappointed. It was just before Valentine's day, so getting in at another salon wasn't easy. I took time out of my busy schedule to make an appointment in advance, arrived in advance of my appointment time, and waited. There is no excuse for this. I certainly don't want someone who has so little value for their customers touching my hair. read more

I was not disappointed. Lily knows her stuff! She is personable, we were talking as if we were old time GFs. I never made it into looks salon, but had a very uncomfortable experience with the woman who answered the phone. In attempting to make an appointment with my living Social deal, she hardly seemed to understand what I was saying and I could not understand her. I told her when I was available to make an appointment and she said, "Do you want one today?" I was very surprised she had room that day so I said, "You have openings today?" To which she replied, "That is very short notice. We are all booked." What?? Then why did you suggest it? I made an appointment for a few days later (I had to ask about certain days and times because she would not tell me when her openings were). I ended up missing the appointment due to a staff meeting and as soon as I realized, I called to apologize and reschedule. I expected to have to pay some sort of cancelation fee or something and would have much preferred that to what happened. The stylist lectured mercilessly and made me near tears. She acted like no one had ever missed an appointment before. I asked if there was a policy about it or a fee I could pay and she continued lecturing. She then told me I couldn't make an appointment for 2 or 3 weeks and kept saying how she had given me a "last minute appointment" even though she never told me that when I made the appointment and didn't discuss any other dates. I kept Trying to make a new appointment and she just beat around the bush saying, "You have to make this appointment if I schedule it. You can't just say you forgot." I told her I understood. We finally made an appointment for a few weeks later and she started asking me if I have one or two colors in my hair because I would have to pay an extra $20 if I had two colors. I've never had a stylist say this before. I told her I didn't know and could I just pay extra when I got there? She continued asking me about the hair color and I repeated what I had said and she finally said yes. I don't think I would have been comfortable with this person doing my hair! I have a feeling she would have totally ignored what I wanted with my hair and done her own thing. Luckily, I refunded my deal and canceled my second appointment. They need someone trained in customer service to answer their phones. I understand that missing the appointment is a huge inconvenience but they need to have a policy for it because they are a business, rather than harassing the client and making him/her not want to return. I'm very surprised by all the good reviews on here because I wouldn't want that woman near my hair. read more

Angela was great! I bought a Groupon and booked the same day. I called at 12 and came in at 3pm. I had to wait a lil bit for Angela to finish her previous client, but totally worth it. My hair, highlights, cut, and style were fantastic! Was skeptical at first cause it was one of the cheapest groupons i could find. 55 for all, though I paid 15 extra for toner and then a tip of course. But it was allllll good. I plan to go back. I originally went to looks salon with my group on in tow for cut style, and highlight. I got Sarah. She did a great job on my highlights and cut. they were very natural and just the right color. she takes the time to make sure it s done right and she listens to what you want and will make recomendations to help you decide what will look best on you. I have since gone a second time and decided to dye over the highlights because although they were probably some of the best highlights I have ever seen they were not really me. I wanted a kind of natural yet reddish hue, and picked out a couple of colors that I thought was kind of what I wanted. Sarah blended two colors together for my treatment, and it turned exactly what I wanted and very complementary to my skin tone. ( I am very pale but with black eye brows so darker shades work with me) the cut that she give me is one of the best I ever had. I have fine hair so I like to layer it to add thickness to it, and she cut it perfect. I also have a curl to my hair so it works well with the layers. very satisfied. read more

Found a groupon and called to See if an appt was available. Quickly told me do not buy the groupon, we will honor the deal in store. Should have put up red flag. Made appointment for 10 am. Showed up at 9:45 and was greeted with a very rude "wow, you so early". Asked what service was wanted, said cut and color, the group on deal, again very quick with the you didn't buy the groupon right? Said no and proceeded with what was wanted. Pictures and all, everything was met with "no you can't do that, no that won't work, you not explaining what you want". In a very rude manner. Wasn't asking much. An A line hair cut with a blonde color, darker at the roots, fading to bright blonde. Basically cleaning and brightening up natural hair. The final straw was "let's just cut and maybe you know what you want then". Needless to say, walked out! Went down the road to Paul Mitchell and low and behold it took them maybe 10 minutes to know exactly what was wanted. Looks salon has horrible customer service, I don't even know what my hair may have looked like had I stayed, and I have no idea if they would have given the group on deal since she (Elaine) was so sketchy about not wanting me to purchase through groupon!
