Started calling Lux on Monday of this week. On Tuesday, I received a call back from the owner late afternoon. That was so very nice. He suggested a stylist after asking me questions so that he would know how best to help me. He suggested I text Liz and she would get back to me. I texted Liz. No response. I texted Liz, no response. I called Liz, no response. I called the salon number, Marc's, everyday and left messages. Marc would not answer or call back. This is Saturday of that week. I am so happy that I bought a Groupon for a Haircut, Deep-Conditioning Treatment, and Style with Alexandre Silva. I have really long fine hair, and it was pretty dry and damaged at the ends because I usually only get a cut about twice a year. Luckily, Alex was able to fit me in the next day. He'not like any hair stylist I've been to before. He was very inviting from the moment I walked in despite me being about 15 minutes late (I called ahead). He even gave me a soft, friendly double handshake when he introduced himself. Then he asked me what I had in mind for my hair. Showing sincere interest in knowing what I saw for my hair, unlike other hair stylists that may do what they want or think is best. He gave great input too and recommended a blunt cut for my fine hair, which turned out wonderfully by the way! When it came to styling time, I asked him to surprise me. I was intrigued by his blow-dry technique with the round brush, it added a nice curl to my hair, and I've never seen it done like that before. When he had me open my eyes for the final reveal, I felt like a contestant on a makeover show haha. My hair looked like it was straight out of a shampoo/conditioner commercial -- so light feeling and shiny. I would recommend going to Alex not only for his artistic hair skills but also because there was no the awkward conversation during the haircut which I usually dread, with Alex, it felt like I was talking to an old friend and the time went by so fast! It's apparent that he loves what he does and he takes pride in his work. I plan on revisiting him in a few months for a trim, which I know my hair will be happy about since I wouldn't usually go back so soon. read more

I go here to get my hair colored, cut, and styled. Fair oaks is not far from where I live so it's also convenient. This place is clean, beautiful, artistic, and the stylists are fantastic! I called and was able to get in the same day with Zsa Zsa. I love the salon. It's open and airy with art work on the walls. Zsa Zsa was able to cut my short hair just how I liked it and we had a great visit as well. I learned that people come from long distances to get their hair done there, so they must be really good. A cut for me was $45. They accept cash or check. I will be going back. Cons: Getting out of their parking lot back onto Fair Oaks Blvd safely. Be very careful as traffic coming around the corner off of Sunrise moves very fast! Even the salon staff warn you about it. read more

I honestly don't know where to start. .. Alexandre Silva was PHENOMENAL! 5 stars doesn't do Alexandre and the salon justice. 10 stars EASILY! We found a very good deal on Groupon for a shampoo, deep condition, and style for 25.00. I can't remember the last stylist that made my hair look and feel so good!... He not only helped my hair, but he also gave me styling tips, and recommended products for my hair that are very inexpensive. I can't say enough good things to say about this guy. The salon was very nice, clean and was also in a very accommodating area off of Sunrise Blve and Old Town Fair Oaks. So you can get your hair done and then go out to lunch, dinner, or cocktails. Jamie LeCates is a hair artist! She is one of the most talented stylists I have ever experienced in terms of color/cut, and I am EXTREMELY picky! I love the fact that she is always very accommodating with my crazy schedule. I never have to wait when I get to her shop because she doesn't overbook. She genuinely cares about me and the health of my hair. She also is great about picking up products for me whenever I need them. She is great about staying on top of her field with continuing education so I don't sport an outdated 'do. ;-) I guess it also doesn't hurt that she's an instructor at Paul Mitchell. My hair stylist was Caroline Campbell, Caroline has made me feel great leaving the salon with confidence knowing that my hair is awesome. That's a great feeling but it gets better because I have never had more compliments on my hair, in my life, since Caroline has started doing my hair. I have literally met new people just because they are compelled to tell me how nice my hair is. She is super friendly and listens to what you want done with your hair, . I have had just about every style trying to find one I like. I had her do so many different styles and showed her pictures which she can do by just looking at them, I have felt like we both created/co-engineered a cool style that suits me best, and had fun In the process of it all. Because she actually listens to you and communicates. Not stressful at all, and she always offers to help people and make them feel comfortable and taken care of. I'm anal. I admit it. I care about my work and make sure I do a good job. I find that it's hard to get that when I need services. Enter Caroline. I was referred by my mom, which wasn't necessarily a plus, even my mom is pretty young and pretty cool. Not a dig, it's just that our styles are very different. I did notice that my moms hair always was great once she started seeing Caroline. One day, while out with my grandma who lives out of town, Caroline walks in and days hello to my grandma by name. Personable, conscientious, and does good work? I gotsta meet this lady on her turf. I was able to make an appt for the next day by calling and leaving a message. The rest was by text. My dream! I was able to send pics of what I had to work with and sorta what I was going for. I showed up and she took a lot of time to make sure she knew what I wanted. I'm sure I'm not good at communicating in this way, but I've never felt that someone took the time I really make sure they could translate my vision into a short and long term plan. I went 2 days in a row so she could perfect the purple since I've had red, pink, purple and blue so it would look like one head of hair. I was just going to work with it, but she insisted. Pricing was super reasonable and I wasn't pushed to buy products. The space is nice and I like the gallery set up. It's nice to have a clean space with nice things to look at while you zen out. I'm going to start bringing the man and the teen here. You get what you pay for and Caroline is a bargain for the work she does. I'll be back and will send many her way. Luxe is a great place. Ok. I just a guy with fine hair, so what do I know about salons? First of all, fine hair is tough to deal with. Before going to Luxe, I rarely had a good hair cut. Since going to Luxe, I have strayed at times and always regretted it. Secondly, and more importantly, my wife has been going there for years. Her hair is so nice and appropriate for her face, she gets many raves (and sending many friends). I don't recommend being a difficult customer, but I have been a very difficult customer at times. Requesting last minute appointments or making change (and being late too). I am please by their willingness to work with me. They are pleasant and accommodating in spite of me being difficult at times. I recommend it - male or female (though they are probably more of a salon than some guys might seek out, they are not pretentious). Give it a try. They also have a lot of cool artwork in the salon. They participate in a Fair Oaks art walk that sounds like a lot of fun. I haven't been yet, but I plan to. read more

just finished up a haircut with Anna, she was incredibly sweet and I knew I was in good hands while watching her do the girl's hair before me. she was super light and made me feel very comfortable (it doesn't look it on the outside but the inside is almost intimidatingly trendy). we talked a lot and it wasn't awkward, she listened to what I wanted and collaborated with me on what kinds of layers would best frame my face. She takes great care in not only your hair but who you are. She's hands down the most thorough stylist I have ever been to and has extreme talent at what she does. I often tell her she should be doing hair for Hollywood stars! She's absolutely fantastic for any of your hair needs. For me it's a perm, a tight perm, and she gets every single rod perfectly curled and the end of my hair smooth and silky. I can go on for pages about how fantastic of a professional she is but I just wanted to put in my 5 stars for Cricket but quite frankly she's a 10 star for sure. read more

Zsa Zsa has been doing my hair for 15 years and even though I have lived 3 hours away for the past 4 years, I still go to her. I've tried a few stylists since being out of the area, but that always ends up being a mistake. Zsa Zsa has some sort of artistic, hair styling goddess, controlling her hands. I have been going to Zsa Zsa for color and cut for over 15 years. She is an artist with color and is always amazing with her haircuts too. I cannot recommend her enough! I get complimented on my color at least once a week from the most random people wherever I go. The process she uses of all over blonde with intricate low lighting is usually only seen in SoCal. Angela is amazing! I have very curly hair and as a result, developed a fear of hairstylists over the years. Other stylist I've gone to claimed to know how to work with curly hair, but in the end treated my hair as straight hair and I would end up with cuts that would pouf my hair into a frizzy mess. Roseanne Roseannadanna reference here. But Angela Gave me exactly what I wanted. She gave me a treatment that relaxed my curls and gave me a cut that works for my hair curly or straight. It's been a couple months since I got it done and it still looks beautiful. After going to her, it takes me 30 mins tops to do my hair in the morning and I don't have to worry about keeping my hair bone dry all day to keep the style.
