I thought it was an overinflate issue. The wheel locked, decimated. CARRIED my bike 5 blocks. So piss'd off. FWIW I do not blame the person who did the original realignment. It is not his fault. It's the manager for setting up a bad chain of command and her appalling gaslighting. They said "Yeah your rim was already indented, and look, it's the back rim too. When the brakes applied to that, this front wheel rim split, caved in and exploded.". That'll be $85 more, they said. New wheel, inner tube, costs. Uhm. What? The alignment of the brake pads is done when you align them TO THE RIM OF THE WHEEL. You cannot align the brakes without aligning the rim, they work together in a pair. That is the time to tell the bike-rider of the impending catastrophe. I was so angry. They didn't tell me. Or warn me or make it known. I requested a discount from the manager. I'd just had the brake adjustment. This lady nicked and dimed me. They fixed the brake alignment and must have seen my coming back for more. Jeez. Switch bait. She gaslit my Every. Single. Sentence. Blamed me for not having a service earlier, for not noticing it myself and said it wasn't their responsibility to tell me about the rim. Uhm, it's LITERALLY your responsibility. I'm not the technician. Brake pads apply to wheel rims. It's Literally. Your. Job. argued I told her I felt very unsafe and didn't trust this shop now. She argued my every sentence. She said anything she could at every turn to make herself look good. Lady. At least have the COMMON decency to agree with a sentence out of my mouth. I shouldn't have to argue over and over or defend myself when I'm telling the manager I feel unsafe. When leaving, she told me to take care of servicing and to come back for adjustments. Lady, if you think I'm ever coming back to this store, you're crazier than I already think you are. And I'll expect her to reply to this with yet more gaslighting.

Absolutely not, as Randy, the Store Manager said I will still get my exercise in, just with a little boost going uphill if need be. As someone with a special lower back, I would push through the pain, just now the limitations need to be embraced. Hence, coming here. Randy educated me on the various types of bikes from the weight, shifting, speed, battery, throttle & motor aspects of an electric bike. What I'm gearing (haha) at is the power-assisted pedaling & gear shifting bikes...imagine riding uphill & instead of stopping, possibly falling over, you shift from the handlebars to kick in the electric option & keep it peddling. Now, these bikes are not your average Huffy, Schwinn, or Mongoose bikes (I've had all of those) with those average prices ranging from $74-$200. The base price for one of the electric bikes that I'm considering starts at $2,800. I am ready for the investment as biking technology will allow me to continue my biking & enhancing my physical fitness simultaneously. Arriving before the shops open, I planned to walk a mile or so to a bike rental shop. Immediately after exiting the market for the beltline connector, I noticed activity at The Belt Hub. Their social media marketing states " The BELT Hub, is Atlanta's first micro-mobility hub, offering e-bike rentals, valet, repairs, and retail. The BELT Hub's mission is to make sustainable, active transportation accessible, secure, and community-centered, redefining the way Atlanta moves". A family owned business, every member of the family went out of their way to help make my experience exceptional. I inquired if there were any pedal bikes, as is my preference over e-bikes. They had a hybrid or a mountain bike available. we looked at both and decided the hybrid was more my size and style. I went for a cup of coffee while they prepped the rental. On return, five minutes for a waiver, credit card, a seat height adjustment, helmet fit, and a cable lock. Off I went for about a 3 hour ride, a total of 27 miles. I explored the trail in both directions from the market. To the left, or west, Piedmont Park and beyond. The park was a beehive of activity with sports, walkers, bicyclists, and Atlanta's Pride Festival and Parade. Back to the right, Eastside toward skatepark and Krog Market. The bike rental was a flat fee of $40 per day, e-bikes started at $25 hour. Returning the bike was easy, and they took and printed a picture as a keepsake. The matriarch even recommended a lunch spot for an after ride bite and beverage. Assessment: exceedingly friendly and responsive customer service, well maintained bicycles, convenient to the beltline. Rent here and enjoy a few hours exploration!

Mine didn't *actually* make me do this, but I definitely heard this experience recounted narratively on multiple occasions. Anyway, that's what I needed to do regarding learning how to change a flat bike tire: even though $10 buys, say, three boxes of delicious cereal or enough gas to last me for a week, I needed to make myself fork it over as a donation to Diana, the very nice volunteer who led the Women's Bike Clinic at the Sopo Bicycle Cooperative this afternoon. I had never heard of them before, but now I am SO glad that I have. Seriously: how cool is a community bike shop? The shop itself is very difficult to find is you're not looking for it: go down the alley in between the Australian Bakery Cafe and the Blue Frog Cantina; the entrance to the bike shop is from the back parking lot. But one *can* find lots of neat information about Soco on their website. Their mission is "to create equitable access to cycling by providing no/low-cost bicycle maintenance services and education" and when they are open (7pm to 10pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; 2pm to 6pm on Saturday) one can fix your own bicycle, help others, and gab about cycling. They also put on classes like the one I attended. In some respects I know a lot about how to be a recreational cyclist and bike commuter, as riding bikes has been a very important part of my growing up and my life as an independent-ish adult. But I didn't know exactly how a fixed gear bicycle works until I attended the class and I had only changed a flat tire once before in my life. The class was a little too basic for me (and the stuff that wasn't basic, like how to repair a broken bike chain, didn't interest me) but I greatly appreciated having the opportunity to meet some cool-seeming ladies and to learn more about the cycling community here in the ATL. Next time I need to have a repair done on my bike, I will likely bring it here even though Bicycle South is just up the street from me, so that I can learn while someone hopefully helps me. 'cuz let's be real, I am "so po" that the community bike shop donation scale (they ask for a donation of $5 to use the shop and tools and $5 per part purcahsed) makes my wallet happy. And I'm all about education and empowerment, so I value being helped by a community of cool folk to help me learn skillz that I can use myself and help pass on to others.

When I first arrived into the store, I see about 6 associates/techs on the floor. No one greeted me. They all look at me & notice me, but not one greeting. Thats not too much of a deal, I just went ahead & start looking at bikes. I'm a complete novice & a little uncomfortable as I haven't been on a bike since I was a child (& that bike was a gift). I know diddly about bikes, so I was slightly overwhelmed. After about 10 mins of pretending to understand what the difference of all these bikes are, I finally get greeted... I can't remember the woman's name but she was kind & polite, but definitely didn't seem too concerned on selling me a bike or not. Almost like she assumed I wasn't going to get one already. I seemed to be more proactive in asking if there were other ways to find/order bikes since the store had limited options for my bike size (S, 5'3). I mentioned Id be doing majority city biking, she advised that a hybrid/city bike would best, but that there were none available. Moments later they have a delivery w/ bikes in my size--Whoohoo! I went to test drive the bike. Had an issue w/ the gears. I was outside & went to ask the male associate in the basement garage for help. He was on the phone, scoffed, rolled his eyes & walked over to me w/ an attitude, like I interrupted his conversation. I went to ask him for help but he didnt listen to my question & immediately said "they can help you upstairs"--it was rude as hell. Like at least listen to the question, damn. I went upstairs a slightly older gentleman asked if I needed help, I told him my issue, he fixed it in literally 20 seconds. (I bet the other guy could have done the same thing if he'd taken the time to care enough) I end up getting the small framed bike recommended earlier by the female associate. Come to find out later that night researching its a mountain bike--which was weird because we had a extensive discussion about the hybrid/city bikes being what I needed. But I assumed she seen my desperation for a bike & just wanted to get me in one. So I ended up taking the bike back for a full refund. Being new to the biking game I didn't feel really welcomed or comfortable. I felt like a burden. & those bikes ain't cheap. For luxury prices I do expect luxury services. So I went to another store & purchased a Trek there (posting a review soon). That experience was almost the complete opposite it was so good. This was my very first bike shopping experience, & I most likely won't be back to this store.
