Nice marina storefront where you can rent a pontoon, motorboat or lake toy.. We were looking to rent a pontoon with an upper deck to tour Lopez Lake.. Our plan was to boat around the lake and drop anchor along one of their coves and swim a bit. We chose the 24" Deluxe Patio Boat. We only booked for 2 hours because we just wanted to check out the lake on a hot day...I think that's the perfect time if you're just visiting for the afternoon.. This review is for their boat rental services. I've rented out boats at quite a few marinas all across the west coast and I had an excellent experience here. The customer service at the rental register was great. The service down at the dock was also fantastic and friendly. The marina was clean, our boat functioned well with no issues and even had Bluetooth capabilities. It would be a 5 star experience if the boat cushions were swapped out. The ones on our boat were spotted with what appears to be possible mold. read more

We rented a pontoon boat. They provide very little direction on the mechanics on what to do if there are problems. The boat broke down on the lake and there is no cell service in various spots of the lake. We were stranded until we could flag down another boater and beg them to go back to the marina to get us help. When we made it back in they wouldn't even give us a refund. Decent little store. I ate at their Fishtails Bar and Grill a couple of times while I was camping there. They were a little understaffed but very friendly. The bar has a decent beer selection and the food isn't bad. Considering they have a monopoly the prices aren't bad. Nice place to visit while you're at the lake. read more

We camp at Lopez often and for some reason we keep giving the marina grill chance after chance. We're done! The food has been awful the past several times we have been. The service is slow, we gave up on the burgers and just ordered sides the past couple of times. They've got our orders wrong and over cook the fries and rings. Gross. Do not recommend. Stopped by the grill for their famous Bloody Mary and it was as awesome as they say!! Deanne the bartender was so wonderful she told us about spice they use in it so we picked that up to try later! Order 2 cheeseburgers and both were delicious! I had to cut mine in half but Bob ate his whole! Great stopping point before going to the bluff by Zip Line to watch all the windsurfers!! The convenience store side of Lopez Lake Marina was very helpful and had lots of inventory that is in stock which is nice. On the "bar and food" side it was a complete joke. The 80 year old bartender was rude and was helping other customers that just walked up even though my wife and I were standing in line for nearly 15 minutes. He's slow, has terrible customer service and needs to be replaced. On the food side the food took over an hour to get and was nasty. We threw it in the trash and walked out. This review is for the grill! I felt like they deserved it. I had lunch there today with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised! The chef looked like he was enjoying himself making peoples food, which is always nice to see. The sweet potato fries were delicious and the best cheeseburger I've had in a very long time. Two stars for the nice staff. I'd give zero for the boat we rented for 400.00 dollars. The so called Tiki boat was so moldy no one wanted to sit down. There was someone else's trash from the previous group, shoved in between the seat that smell. We got there at 8am, first reservation, so who knows how long it had been there. There's a ladder going to the so called second level, painted plywood that's slippery and has mold all over it. Don't suggest going up there unless you wanta play fear factor with your life. Don't even know how to describe our experience, but one things for sure, that was no tiki boat. Surprised I lived to write a review. Would suggest researching boats or just skip it all together. This place is a rip off. We rented a pontoon for eight hours. We were anchored out by the dock to fish and when we tried to pull up the anchor, it was stuck. We tried to dive down to move it. One of the deckhands tried to dive down to remove it but was also unable to do so. He told us to tie the rope of the anchor to a bouey so that they could locate the anchor later. He told us the anchor was stuck under the chain holding the dock. I have now been charged $150 for a "lost anchor". I spoke to the manager Summer and explained the situation. She informed me that it did not matter that the anchor was stuck under the dock chain, that I was responsible for this anchor. Even though they told us that fishing by the dock was good area, but no mention of a chain and possibility of anchors getting stuck under the chain. She told me if the anchor is retrieved I will be refunded my $150. She told me $150 was how much to replace their pos anchor and rope. What a joke! I will never frequent this run down shoddy place ever again. Total rip off! I'm not done yet with this place stealing my money read more

With mixed emotions I'm going to write this review. This is a locals hidden gem. The lake is gorgeous, quiet and pretty much untouched. The marina has a very well sorted store and a great place to have lunch. You don't have to go camping to just enjoy the drive out there and sit outside with a delicious lunch and a cold beer or better yet a spicy bloody mary. Every single person that works there is kind, courteous and friendly. My family and I have enjoyed going out there for years. Not much of a camper but love boating for the day and having lunch with a beautiful scenery. read more

First off... They have to remove the little stain they have taking orders and running the register. What is she 8 years old? Trying to place an order with this little window sill licker was like talking to a wall. An adult needs to be put in that position. This kid couldn't even print out a receipt. The food was average at best. Wayyyyyy over priced! 2 sandwich melts with fries, an order of 6 mozzarella sticks and 2 sodas was $35.00!! Sandwiches...not burgers! Turkey melt sandwiches. The cook (also the little stains dad) was about as hospitable as a street curb. No greetings. No smiles. Over priced average food. And just a sense of nothingness,equals no tip! I don't know if they're drinking the lake water or what but they will never get mine or my girlfriends service ever again. This place needs some work. I fish here about 3 times a week. My son-in-law is here from out of state so I took him in to the Marina for lunch after fishing all day. There were no customers in the restaurant or at the bar. I walked up to the bar and there was no one behind it. I stood there for a minute or so watching a hockey game when a guy says, "Are you gonna order food or have a drink or are you just using up our cable TV to watch sports?". I told him we would be having lunch. We ordered sodas and lunch. He fills the soda cup up as high as possible with ice and then squirts soda in the cup. Two sips later we are out of soda and he says refills are full price. I ask him for the wifi password and he said it costs $5 cash for the password. I totally thought he was kidding, so I asked him again and he said, "Hey man, I don't make the rules". The food was actually decent but everything else about the place is no bueno. Plus it costs $10 just to get in to the park even if you are just headed in to get lunch. read more

First off most of our food came out burnt (hotdog,sweet potato fries,burger and onion rings) and when I mention this food isn't edible he asked me if it was under cooked or over cooked!! Umm Duh...all the food is burnt!! Next I watched the cook take someone else's order which he had to handle the money and then went straight back to the kitchen and touched a raw burger with his hands that hadn't been washed!!! We rented a boat for the kids and the fuel gauge was not working (always showed full). We ran out of gas within 3 hours while lightly running the boat and needed to call for help. The guys at the dock tried to tell us the tank was full even though the gauge was obviously broken. This boat can easily run for 8 hours on a full tank. The guys on the dock responsible for filling the tank didn't want to take the blame for not filling it up so instead, they tried to tell us the tank was full and we should pay for it - complete nonesense. Instead of getting a full 8 hour day, we got 3 light hours. They were nice enough to pro-rate the time, but not without leaving a bad taste in our mouth. my brother and sister in-law rented a boat for four hours but were only able to use it for about an hour and a half before some man followed them out and demanded them to go back to the dock other wise he would call the coast guard because "there were too many people on the boat." even tho their website clearly stated that there was an 8 person OR 1600 lbs limit. There were 3 adults on the boat and 7 children! (all about 60-80 lbs each) Mind you there was no alcohol on the boat, all the kids had life vests on and were all siting while the boat was moving. they ended up losing 100.00 of the deposit and didnt even get the time they PAID for. I wouldn't recommend anyone renting a boat from here the employee was totally disrespectful and didn't want to give them back there deposit and it wasn't until the owner came out and gave them some of their deposit back. read more

Horrible Service! Our family rented the fun boat for 4 hours and although renting it over the phone was simple and easy process. Once we arrived to pick up the boat the customer service (or lack there of) was horrible and VERY unprofessional! I had been instructed to arrive at 10:00 whereas we had the rental starting at 10:30. We arrived at 9:59. We stood in the rental area until 10:20 while others were being helped. We finally got assisted, we wanted to rent a tube to pull on the back of the boat. We we told that we had to get it down off the wall in the dining room area, which seemed very strange, but ok we made it happen. When we walked down to the dock now it is 10:35. We see out boat on the dock to the right of us. The workers on the dock are assisting two other families with boat rentals. We wait patiently and then a work "Zac" is driving our rental over to us. We over hear him throughout the F bomb and talking very unprofessionally to another worker on the dock. Zac goes over the boat safety info, gets life vests for us. He asks if we have any questions. I asked where the bathroom was as we paid for this. He then jumps off the boat, brings it down to the boat, show us how to use it. As we are leaving the doc we ask for the time, He says it is 10:53--but let's call it 11:00 . We all say ok see you in 4 hour. He agrees and gives us a wave as we leave. The boat experience itself was amazing! Everything worked so well and we had such an amazing time! We watched our time throughout the entire day. As i was getting close to 11:00 we made our way back to the dock. It was about 10:50 and we were trying to figure where to dock the boat. Both sides were full with boats. A worker man on the dock gives hand jesters to come his way so we do. We over hear him say something like, hurry up, others are waiting on the boat. We are surprised because we were careful with our time and were going with what Zac had instructed us as to the time. We quickly gather all of our belongings and are heading up the dock to the building. A guy yells out my name and I turn and go back to him, he asks me to sign the paper and says he has to call out the gas. I don't understand him so I say excuse me, he repeats the same thing, Still not understanding , I walk up to the building. We get up to the building and I go to the marina desk, a girl starts to help me and she is new and turns and asks Zac and another lady (who is pregnant). The girl doesn't know the answers so the new girl passes the paper work over to the pregnant girl. She tells me that she is going to charge me for the tubing and will have to charge me for being late, I say I am sorry but we weren't late. I look up and see Zac there and say to him, you were the one that sent us off this morning correct? I recall the conversation between him and us about the time in the morning. He shakes his head no and I repeat the conversation. He pulls out his wallet and says "do you want me to pay for the late fee so stop you from bitching". I am absolutely shocked! I said no that is not the point, it was more about being honest and standing by your word. Zac walks off, the pregnant girl says it is a rough day and I couldn't believe the people that have yelled at the today. My husband then comes up to see what is taking so long and I tell him the issues, he was shocked that this Zac would treat anyone like this! My husband confronts Zac and tells him that he doesn't appreciated Zac disrespecting and treating his wife like that. They have some unprofessional words between the two of them in the store, then my desk comes back to the counter. The pregnant girl tells me that she is not going to charge us for the overage. We thank her. I ask for the workers name again and she tells me that she is sorry for the situation and that she will review with the manager. For such a beautiful wonderful fun day Zac truly ruined the day for us. A great day went bad because of this very unprofessional employee, Zac. If I was the manager of this marina I would not have such employees working for me! ***update! I called this morning and spoke with the Marina Manager Julie. She was amazing, she was apologetic and stated she would handle the unprofessional employee. She agreed that this behavior was not acceptable and this is not the norm for this family setting. read more

My family went to Lopez lake for the first time last week. I would say it was a group of 25. We stayed for 6 days! I was sooo excited to find out they have a bar and Restaurant. We went twice while we were there. We orders some beers and French fires. The French fries were supper yummy. The two main things I didn't like. The game room next to the bar was super dirty and unkept. The couch at mouse drippings for god knows how long. It overall was dirty and didn't seem to get much TLC. Another thing our family noticed was horrible customer service from " the blond with the cakes on makeup." She worked the bar as well as the market next to the bar. She never smiled and looked pissed off all the time. The brunette tall bartender and the light skinned black guy in the kitchen were great which made up for the other girls bad attitude. Overall it was a good experience and will go back next year. I'm hoping the blond girl shapes up her bad attitude and they clean up the place a bit. read more

My family and I had a really fun afternoon at Lopez Lake Marina yesterday! It's a quick drive over from Pismo beach where we are staying, and was much warmer and sunnier than Pismo when we went. We traveled with a group of 4 and I wanted to get on the water, but my mom and 88 year old grandma were hesitant. We went down to the dock to check out the boats and water toys, and one of the employees on the dock, Robert, reassured my mom and grandma that they would be safe and comfortable. We ended up renting one of the electric pedal boats, and a hydro bike. The hydro bike is awesome and I'd never been on one before, but Robert and Briar gave us all thorough instructions until we felt confident. We all had a blast! They have life jackets available and lockers to store shoes on the deck if you need. Prices are very reasonable and the check in/check out process is quick and easy. It's a shame that the water level is so low and they may have to close the dock, because it's a great little camping area. Highly recommend everyone visit while you still can!! Huge shoutout to Robert and Briar for their friendly, welcoming attitudes. Hospitality is something we don't take for granted as tourists! read more

If you're camping in need yourself a cuppa Joe they open very early and they always have fresh coffee in the morning they also have Games you can purchase like corn hole and I think I saw that her ball. They sell rope large sun hats for women which comes in handy if you forgot yours they rent little boats they also have an arcade area which is great for the kids to have a little fun after a long day. read more

My husband and I have come to this lake for at least the past 6 years and we have thoroughly enjoyed our stays.. The Marina is much improved. We watched the FIFA world cup games along with many patrons from 2 large screen TVs. We love their fish and chips; the fries were delicious; onion rings not so much; the menu selection is decent and the cook is very friendly. There's also a well-stocked bar; there were quite a few beer drinkers enjoying the games. The store has lots of merchandise to choose from; surprisingly the prices are reasonable. My daughters bought cute hats to protect their faces from the sun. We also rent a slip for our fishing boat here and it's $25 per day or $125 per week. I recommend this place to my friends. read more

The lake looks really nice and is returning to its glory slowly. First let me say that the marina store is well stocked, the food at the snack bar was good, but cleanliness of the place and the service at the snack bar and the store counter was some of the worse I have ever experienced! What a bunch of rude condescending entitled little twits that "work?" there! Management (or lack there of) needs to get a handle on this bunch! Waiting to order should have been a clue! When the sweaty, rude, dirty looking, greasy haired, girl took our order she was acting like she was doing us a favor letting us order our lunch of 3 easy to prepare burgers and fries. The cook was in the back leaning on the grill and when he stepped out to see the order slip it looked like he had just came in from working on his car or a boat and was ready to prepare food! I didn't let it deter me from ordering, just kind of figured she was having a bad day and his hygiene was still in the learning process. No one else was in the place but a few kids on the arcade games so I thought, great we'll have a quick lunch and get on with our day. We were out for a leisure day, so as we waited on our food we took the time to look the place over and was surprised by all the updates in the few years since we had enjoyed our pontoon and ski boats on the lake before the drought took its toll. But we did notice a lot of flies, and how dirty the place was though there were 3 more of the same caliber girls standing around on their phone, eating and smoking on the outside deck! So when we sat back down we had noticed it had been a good half hour since we had ordered, so I inquired if there was a problem. The girl said they ran out of bacon and had to get and defrost some. Now anyone with any "snap" at all would have told me this in the beginning and asked if there was something else we would like, I would have understood, but she chose to let us wait and said nothing. After 45 minutes we finally get our food and the cheeses were left off the burgers! I'm a patient person and we all just wanted some cheese on my "cheese" burger, but when I looked for someone to assist me is when I noticed them all out on the deck smoking. We all decided to eat our meals and be on our way,.... $40.lesson learned! I did let the rude ones know it was no way to treat customers but doubt it sunk in. For the record, I and the parties with me all own service related businesses and if any of these people worked for any one of us they would either be taught to become a little more professional or look for another type of work. Worst experience we've ever had! We walked in to the bar and they were only two people sitting at the bar, which I found out later that they were employees or at least one of them was. The female bartender which wears a braid brown hair was so rude didn't even acknowledge us for over two minutes just kept talking to the other two and looking at us like we had pissed her off by even showing up. So finally my husband had to basically shout out OK will have some beers here please. She says the keg is empty of the kind of beer that he asked for and that he would have to wait he says well I'll take this kind of beer instead while I'm waiting she says well you'll just have to wait for the other keg. So we're pretty much annoyed we drink our beers and then I said you might as well go up and try to get your credit card back because we were going to keep an open tab but decided to leave because of the Rude service. So another five minutes he standing at the bar being ignored again and that's when we found out that the lady sitting at the bar decides to get up and help my husband because the bartender wasn't helping and she made a comment can you please help him he needs to leave and she says to her if you want to help him so bad get up and help him yourself! We have been going to Lake Lopez for over 5 years. This was the worst camping trip here ever! The Marina is run down and has not been updated since the 70,s. The workers are rude (one in particular) who has a chip on her shoulder and spoke to my husband and I as if we were criminals. We rented the Tritoon boat that was so dirty. The bathroom was gross used toilet paper left in garbage can and smelled like urine. We paid 300.00 dollars and they charged our card another 300.00 because they said we beached the boat and someone took pictures of us doing so. They did reimburse our 300 after we complained and wanted to talk to owner. Not sure why the owner cant get professional employees but its going down hill. The only positive things was that the lake is full. Our campsite sewage line backed up, 1000 tics on our dog and the camp site next to us had over 20 people and 4-5 cars, The rangers do nothing to keep this place nice. We will not be returning to this place any time soon. read more
