Biggest thank you to Layla Decker who clearly sets the bar for her team's hospitality focused approach that made the place feel like I was visiting family. You guys are lucky to have her and she can't be a day over 30 so if you want to keep her til she's 35 and beyond, don't be cheap when the time for raises or bonuses comes around! I don't often write reviews and I definitely don't make sure I post them in multiple places but after our family stay at the Lake Naciamento Resort, not only am I doing both,I'll be singing their praises to anyone who will listen for a long time. I was coming to the area to work over the weekend but we made a last minute decision to bring the family and make a little vacation out of it. We must have called a million times with a million different questions and honestly I felt so unorganized and like a pain in the (you know what) but the staff, especially GM Layla Decker, made us feel like family and I commend them all for having the patience of a 1,000 saints. By the time we arrived we felt like we already knew Layla and her staff thanks to a million phone calls. I cannot begin to say just how helpful they were. Not only did they answer all our questions and calls but they went above and beyond and called me to advise how the foggy weather could affect my early morning departures for work as I'm unfamiliar with the resort. To say we are sad to leave after such a wonderful experience is the understatement of the year. It was such a great feeling leaving for work knowing my family was there in such wonderful and helpful hands while I was away. Thank you, Lake Naciamento, Resort! We'll be back!!! Just visited for the day to hike around the lake. The water was pristine and we enjoyed walking around the grounds, honestly didn't see anyone, maybe people were sleeping in... The few staff we interacted with were helpful, one at the gate gave us a map of the resort and one at the A-frame administrative building told us where to start from where we parked. A touch pricey for camping but then you get to say that you are epic so that's worth it, right? ;-) Got the group campsite nearest the water so we basically had a walkway through the campsite. It was okay. Didn't rent a boat so I have nothing to say about that. We did bring a Blackstone and that was fun. Cooked just about everything on it, including some awesome breakfasts. Got to see more of the fam than per usual. Group site had a number of tables but not much shade so be careful. One nice part was that it was farther away from most other sites. read more

This is a hard working group of people . just refunded on my 2 night stay after being informedI have to pay an additional $ 9.00 a software fee . i'm standing at the desk talking to people about my stay and the computer tries to pull a software fee ? What I can't handle is what amounts to a 25% price increase for a software package the resort owns / rents/ or has use of , cost of doing business folks . Looking on the website I don't see any changes for making reservations . It's the frankly terrible system I used for years . Note my family has visited the lake over 250 times in the last 40 years . The camp grounds near the lake have not change in all those years , except for the way squeeze folks in to slots 1 car 2 car 3 car 4.. the sites are small and very expense , some of the most expensive in California . A few years ago the Management made a decision to charge a deposit of $200.00 for a campsite , I was all for it , I 've been picking up trash here for 40 years left by persons who don't care for this place the way I do . For the past 10 years I have paid my boat and truck fee . I stay away from the lake in the summer , way to many folks having a good time. plus my pontoon boat is really rough riding when the wake board boats are out in force , it boarders on not being safe at times with the wave actions throwing grandkids around the boat . I will leave you with some thoughts . When the campground has less than a 20 % occupation , make the reserve sites at the none utilities area open camping for all sites at one price . Note the angry camper who is informed he is in a site that requires 3 spots ... disappears . Run this idea as a special to attract more visitors in the slower seasons . This is a great place . Its been a pleasure to be a customer , never lose site of that . From the bottom up. BIG SHOUT OUT to the Rangers at Lake Nacimiento on 06/06/2020. Boat ran FANTASTIC all day. We were at Asbury Creek when she went out on us. Seems to be electrical related...ugh. Boat has been solid for 13 years and went down on us twice this season. New injectors, tune up....you all know B.O.A.T (Break out another thousand) LOL - We weren't broke down for more than 5 minutes when a family of three in a new Maroon colored Malibu came up to us (24 hours on new boat- BEAUTIFUL) They asked if we needed a tow and I said unfortunately, yes. I mentioned we are at the main marina and they said they could take us back half way. I said perfect. During this time, I called BOATUS whom we are members with and was told they don't have a resource at the lake, but will continue to try and find someone to help get us the rest of the way..... in the mean time, the anchor rope we were using broke and couldn't have happened at a better time. A Ranger boat was passing us and noticed it. They flipped around and offered to take over and get us back to the marina...SWEET! We offered the first tow $200 and like most of us who have towed others, they turned it down and said pay-it-forward. The rangers took over and got us back safe. It was pretty windy and one jumped on the dock with me to help secure our boat until I could get the trailer. Once secured, we offered the same donation of $200 and were turned down. These two are AWESOME in every way. You have a GREAT TEAM MCPRA at Naci - KEEP IT UP!!! P.S. While at the dock, I noticed an older couple having issues putting their boat on the trailer. We've stayed here for RV as well as lodge camping. Every customer service interaction we've had has been kind and helpful. Folks who work in the general store are the same. The lodge was convenient and clean. Paper towels, bath towels, a sponge, etc, were all provided. The heating worked well, which is part of our decision to return to the lodges! Hiking was lovely, and the water is a blast. We'll be returning soon! read more

Our group of 30 made an early reservation for several boats and jetskis. When we realized we would actually prefer to swap out one of the slow boats for a faster boat, I called them to see what our options are. After speaking with them on the phone they let us know that all of the speed boats are first-come-first-serve, meaning whoever shows up first the day of gets them. Keep in mind they pulled up the reservation and knew the exact weekend we were going. I also asked if we all need to get there at 8am or just the people who want to go on the fast boat. The friendly guy on the phone said just the 8 folks would be good enough to secure a boat. The weekend comes and we get there just after 8am - and what do ya know?! All of the boats we were interested in had been booked up ahead of time. And even if they weren't, they wouldn't allow us to modify our reservation without our friend who made the early reservation present. HOW did they rent out all of the fast boats on other reservations ahead of time when they said that they are first come first serve?! So anyways, we ended up needing to wait for 1-2 hours for our friends to arrive before being able to get on a boat (even one which was already on our reservation). The guy on the phone was super friendly but obv didn't know what was going on. The people in the shop were extremely not helpful, rude, and should not be working in a customer facing job. When we returned the boats, they charged a ton for damages to the propeller of the boat and the jetski. They said the propeller was still functional but just had some dents. Unfortunately we didn't check the prop when we checked in but seems like many others are writing reviews about suspicious damage fees. Please make sure to thoroughly inspect your boat to avoid any suspicious "damage fees"! Oh yeah, our friend had brought in a jetski in the middle of the rental period for gas and apparently it doesn't take credit card. He didn't have enough gas to make it back to our boats to get cash and said one of the ladies "kindly" let him borrow $10, which was enough for him to go get cash and come right back. Apparently she put a time limit on when he needed to return by and was really rude about it too. They had our credit card held down and there are 30 of us. It's not like we could sneak off! Overall we had a terrible experience the people working that day. read more

We had a great boat rental experience this week. Came don on a Friday morning to get the scoop and Steve gave us all the details. He said John would take care of us ( if we were Dodgers fans) so off we went. We just wanted a half day, but had to wait until 11:30 with no guarantee someone wouldn't take the boat for a full day. John kinda tried to let us reserve it anyway, filled out the papers then told us to comeback. They didn't have the 18 footer for 4, only the 21' for up to 8. $300 for 4 hours. John let us have an extra bit of time, wink wink. Don't want to get him in trouble for being so g darn friendly and nice. The boat and tow tube were great. We killed it all day with zero problems. The gas gauge didn't work, neither did the speedometer, but the boat did. $65 bucks worth of gas just like they quoted. Didn't see John at the end of the day to thank him, but he really made our first trip to this lake and my kids first boating experience a 5 star affair. read more

Nice marina with a store located on the water, your able to just pull up to the dock, tie off and walk right inside. We went in here for the first time to look for "water gloves" or "wet gloves" to wear while riding the jet skis because we forgot ours at home. Unfortunatly, they only had very small sizes in the few options they had so we weren't able to purchase any. read more

We are now on day two at this lake nacimiento. I felt comfortable with the checking process, they asked for CF number for kayaks which I thought was a little strange. But once we got out onto the lake we were able to play our music loud and obnoxiously and create wakes in the no wake zone. The water was clean and black color which is always a good thing. And I will also add that the Mastercraft X 45 performed at it's peak. The two ladies that check this in at the gate were pleasant, a little sarcastic, but so are we, so it made for an enjoyable check-in experience. I forgot I promised to leave a radio so here it is I came to the part where they check my muscles. After the lady checked my undercarriage Another flotation devices, She argued about whether I was on the lake or not 24 hours ago. She was very short and snappy with me, I believe it is a case of small woman syndrome. She wore her fluorescent vest and was rude. The short squatty woman was rude and condescending. We had kayaks that were moist from yesterday from the lake. She said they were all wet. It was her attitude that bothered me most. read more

We had an amazing time discovering all the hidden jewels and tucked away corners of Lake Nacimiento. It genuinely felt like another country! The hidden discoveries of Southern California on the untouched 200 year old road of Jolan is quite the experience. Almost like going away to Italy. The cows are just grazing, taking shade and drinking water to the vineyards and abundant sunshine of what is Nacimiento. Take a jump into the tempting waters or dive right into the cool clean waters. The pontoon boat rentals are insanely overpriced. Also there are no small fishing boat rentals. The lake has some really good fishing. However, the lake is drained to almost nothing each year. Also the lake has very little access and is mostly private. Not a good camping lake. Also, during peak season the lake gets absolutely trashed. Litter and trash every where. read more

Great time at this lake, so big you even get lost. The water is very choppy while boating. They have camping and live music on Saturday night at the restaurant/bar. They also have movies for the kids and a candy shake with outdoor seating. In the water they have party coves too for adults only. read more

We've been traveling to lake Nacimiento for family vacations for years now. We launched our boat in the lake for the first time this year and we were having a great day until we had to stop for fuel at the marina. We filled up our boat with gas and drive back out onto the lake when we stopped so a skier could get out on the water. When we went to start the boat, it turned on fine but once I went to accelerate the boat would stall out. We got towed out of the lake and took it to our boat mechanic. He drained the fuel from the tank and showed that the majority of the fluid in our tank was water. So unfortunately, thanks to the quality of fuel at the lake Nacimiento marina had to get the water removed from the fuel tank in order to use the boat again. Love lake Nacimiento and everyone in the marina is awesome. Can't say the same about their fuel though. read more

I had some troubles with my boat motor and he allowed me a temporary stay at 1 of the empty slips. Also help me with testing a battery. Very helpful folks. Let me start first with a general review of the lake and the marina staff: This has easily become my favorite lakes to come visit. My good friends and I that live in the area have used this lake for the past year as a great place to ride his Jet skis/ sea doo's. The staff at the lake has always been more than helpful and allowed us to launch for a reasonable price. The lake itself is wonderful. Plenty of space to explore and good sections to ride and have fun. There are tons of alcoves and beaches to rest on. I love this lake. Now to get more specific: Last Wednesday ( 7/20/11) our group went out to the lake again. About 5 o'clock there was an unfortunate accident where I got hit in the face with the other Jet SkI, while riding mine. I sustained a massive contusion to my face and lost consciousness. After my fiance, the other rider, managed to grab me and wake me up we were quickly met by another boat of guest that went to go grab the Rangers/Fire Fighters/Paramedics stationed on the lake. In less than an hour there were so many rangers, medical officers, and off duty police officers as well as several boats of helpful by-standers helping me that we lost count. Soon after that the staff made the RIGHT call to have me airlifted to the the nearby Twin Cities hospital. Several hours later, after 29 stitches and several infusions of liquid I was stable. I found out that if the crew had not responded as well as they did and got me to the hospital as quickly as they did I more than likely would have bled to death. I know that this is the Rangers/Fire Fighters/Paramedics job to help injured guests on their lake but it always amazes me to see them in action. They literally saved my life on Wednesday, So if you are in Southern Monterey County or Northern San Luis Obispo County and looking for a great place to launch your watercraft look no further. It is an amazing body of water, with plenty of amenities and a staff that is friendly and fair. Plus if you find yourself in trouble like I did, you are in good hands. read more

Love this lake. We came here for a weekend with a group of friends and had a blast. We rented a trailer very close to the marina where we had also rented a slip so we wouldn't have to pull the boat in and out of the water. We got up early, road all morning, went back to the campsite for lunch, waited till the water calmed down and road again. PERFECT! If you are a ski enthusiast, there is also an awesome slalom course hidden in a cove, that is suppoed to be for skiers only. In addition to great water, this marina has a store to buy some food necessities and boat needs. I would definitely come back here for another weekend of riding. If you're coming in summer try and get a condo or trailer. A place to cool off is necessary. read more

Somewhat off the beaten path. Really big lake, but limited beach access for people. Camping spaces really crammed together, but mostly shaded. Although, on a hot day shade makes very little difference. No privacy or escape from super loud music. Today's selection was mariachi music pumped out by a cheap system from a Honda Civic w/ the windows rolled down. Great for boats, jet ski & every kind of water sport. 2 large paved boat slips & a restaurant (didn't go in, so can't rate it). A day pass will run you $15 & $2/dog. Although I wouldn't suggest bringing your four-legged friends, it's just too hot & they have to be leashed the entire time. Not the friendliest of campers, but certainly more inebriated than most on a Memorial Day weekend. There were plenty of families there with young children, but I wouldn't bring mine there. It's definitely a great place for adult boaters & water enthusiasts. read more

This lake has really gone downhill in the past few years. The drought pretty much destroyed anything about the lake that could be considered beautiful. The lake level has also dropped considerably, which ruined the fishing and has reduced the boating experience. Also, the fish and game officer who patrols the place is an asshole. It just sucks because most of the central coast bass lakes all suffer from similar problems. BASS ANGLERS BEWARE! read more

This place is a disaster. I have lived near Lake Shasta and Whiskeytown Lake my whole life. Those lakes are in pristine condition compared to this place. When we first drove in, the parking lot is right next to the lake, you park on red clay dirt and get out and walk down to the water which is less than 20ft away from all the cars. When I came into park, my car fell into an extremely large pot hole and damaged my tire rim. There is no shade or any place to really sit comfortably so you have to bring your own chairs and umbrellas for shade and there are so many people lined from end to end at the edge of the lake that often times you are literally sitting right next to your neighbor packed in like sardines while they are blasting their music. So we stayed positive and set out our beach chairs at the only available spot which was on a major incline (hill) on the right side of the lake. I had to make the comment to my friend how EXTREMELY LITTERED with trash this place was! Plastic bags floating In the wind, sharp rusted beer bottle tops everywhere. I was even shocked to see two bleach bottles happily floating around in the water. Someone had suggested earlier to wear sandals in the water but we didn't listen and the flip flops didn't stay on our feet so as I was actually walking back up to our spot in the water to grab some sandals for my friend so she could walk back up without hurting her feet on the rocks up the hill, I stepped on some extremely sharp glass in the water and lacerated the bottom of my right toe. I ended up going to the ER and getting stitches in my toe. This place is disgusting, I would not recommend it for families with children. Will be boycotting this place and never coming back. read more

WARNINg ** DO NOT COME HERE if you are someone who enjoys camping for nature. They don't separate tents and generators and people here have no respect for nature (trash everywhere). Campsites don't have grills, internet has deceiving photos. They literally have 10ft campsites a few inches from roads. Total money scam at $36 a night and no refunds. Will never come here or recommend to anyone. It's like camping in Trona... or Vegas. Disgrace to the word of camping. If I had to choose between here or camping naked in Saudi Arabia, I would choose SA. read more

Arrived with a family of 5, and ultimately was informed that for some reason, our boat rental reservation was not processed. It seemed our 125 mile trip had been for naught. Not to worry, Ty and Chase found a way to get us on to a boat and saved the day!!! Ty kicked in two fishing poles for the day to boot. Very helpful and courteous staff, and clean facilities. I used to love coming to either Lake San Antonio or Nacimiento for summer camping and boating. Unfortunately, Lake San Antonio is no more and after this past visit to Lake Nacimiento, it's safe to say that I will never come back due to the horrible customer service we encountered. We were spending a weekend at a lake house by Lake Nacimiento and wanted to go boating on saturday. We called in the morning of to see if they had any boats available and were told that they did have boats available but we should come in asap as the rental place closes at 4PM and the boat had to be returned by 315PM. First, the website says they close at 8PM on sat. Please update your website if that is NOT the case. Anyways, it was my bf's bday and he had already had his mind set on going boating so we decided to go anyways. We didn't realize it would take us long to get to the marina from the house due to the windy road and plus we were traveling in a big group and you know how that goes. So we get to the lake and there is a loooooong line to get through the gate, we pay the day fee and make our way to the marina. The worker at the rental was just SO RUDE and obviously very annoyed we were making him work. We all knew we wouldn't have much time to boat but still wanted 2 boats so everyone could be in the water at least for some time AND we were willing to pay the money so what was the problem?? He argued with us that it was not worth the money and that he had to do double the paper work and walk us through the boats twice blah blah blah so it wouldn't be enough time. Well really, if he had just agreed to let us rent the 2 boats from the beg and started the paper instead of arguing with us, we could've saved 40 mins and would've been on our way BUT god forbid we were making him do his damn job! Instead, he only let us get one pontoon boat who couldn't even fit everyone just so that he only had to do paperwork and the walkthrough ONCE. Are u effing kidding me? We took turns going on in the water and returned the boat at 310PM sharp. It took 2 mins for him to check out the gas and give us the receipt. Why did we need to return it so early if you close at 4PM?? Seriously, this guy just wanted to do nothing and go home AND he was super grumpy and rude the entire time we were filling out paper work, slamming his pen and paper. UGH, SO RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. Long story short, the customer service here is not worth the visit. Reading from the other negative reviews, we were not the first to encounter such awful customer service. Alright, if you don't want my business, I'll gladly take it somewhere else! read more

I began writing a review on the Lake Nacimiento Resort Yelp page, but didn't have enough room to finish it. I'm finishing it here. ...continued... The people on our left had a bunch of teenagers that were running through our site and hiding from each other behind my truck. They knocked down one of their own tents and one of their mom's was obnoxiously yelling at them right in front of us while we were trying to play a game of CLUE at our table. So peaceful, I love nature. We ended up going to bed at 11:30pm and everyone was still super loud. We woke up at 7:02am to the sound of everyone still being super loud. I wonder if they even went to sleep?? Then during breakfast the people across from us started playing LOUD Banda (Mexican) music and it was heavy on the Tuba. By now we started feeling like we weren't enjoying ourselves (not to mention, there wasn't anywhere worth attempting to swim) so we decided we were going to pack up and go find a water park somewhere. While we were packing, the people on the left apparently didn't appreciate the loud music from the people across from us so they started playing even LOUDER rap music. Now I like Old Skool Hip Hop, but I wouldn't play it in front of my kids. Then the people across from us started playing rap and turned it louder. They were now having a music war and we were caught in the crossfire. We couldn't leave quick enough. So as we're packing I can hear every word of the songs that were playing (B**** better have my money, F**** B**** better have my money). I started getting upset because I have young girls, but then it really got bad when the music started getting Nasty (2 Live Crew'ish). I walked over to the campers and asked them please change it; that I don't want my daughters hearing that. They were nice enough to change it to more Banda. Even MORE Tuba, but at this point it was music to my ears. On our way out I talked to the Ranger because we had paid for two nights, but we were not going to be staying our 2nd night and although they don't do refunds, they were sympathetic to our situation, apologized and refunded our $ for the 2nd night. I was very impressed by the way the Rangers spoke with us and refunded us. Future Plans: I think the only way I'd go back is if I was camping at Sandy Point OR if I rented a cabin and had a boat. read more

Staff ratings: My rating would have been 5 stars even with all the issues we had with their boats had SHANE at the Marina not been so RUDE!!! Unbelievably RUDE!!! Read on~~~ So, I call weeks ahead to schedule our reservation for a Ski boat & Pontoon boat, spoke to Jenna I believe & she was as nice as pie. A few days before we are due to arrive I get a confirmation call from Amanda who was very pleasant to talk to, she even scoped out the camp sites for me to give me some info on what she thought would be available. I liked her! We finally arrive, I walk up to the Marina that Friday to ensure everything was in place, I then met Amanda in person, she was as kind as she was to me on the phone. Everything was in place! Saturday comes around, we arrive at the Marina to pick up our boat rental & there was no boat, but John (I think) & Amanda were on it.. they had one brought over. We load up the 8 passenger boat & it began to immediately break-down on us. Really?? Ah man! So, we return the boat to Amanda who sets us up with her manager Casey to get us another boat.. They were all out of the 8 passenger boats so they accommodated up with two boats instead of the 4 passenger boats (that was cool). We left to have some fun!! Mid-day Saturday both boats returned to the Marina & off to our camp sites we went as we were starving!! I decided to stay back at the camp site with family instead of returning to the lake, my brother however along with his two friends, his wife & my little 3 year old nephew carried on to the lake. We had an all day rental so they arrived back to the Marina around 7:30, upon arrival they were rudely greeted by SHANE!! Being that the boats were in my name & my brother was only on as a driver I made sure I returned to the Marina to meet my brother so I can turn in the keys. As soon as I seen my brother coming I stood & waited. As I waited, Shane stood there with looks that could kill. As soon as everyone was off the boat he proceeded to lecture me saying that he was bothered because there was 7 passengers on the boat that just came in.. What????? I didn't know what the heck he was talking about, he must have been blind because as I said, it was my brother, his wife, his 2 friends & his 3 year old son.. Are you kidding me?? This kid was waaaaaay off!! He had major attitude and should take some sort of customer service class.. The story gets better.. Sunday (the next day) we were scheduled for a Pontoon boat. John set us up with life jackets and was the sweetest man there, we appreciated his help & were very pleased with his outstanding customer service!! Steve was also great, he showed us all around the boat & gave us some very cool & helpful safety tips! So, we're out on the lake & the boat starts making some crazy sound & won't move.. Really?? Again!!! WTH! Thank Goodness we had our cell phones with us, we called the Marina & they sent someone out right away (forgot the guys name) upon arriving to our boat the older gentleman helped us figure out the issue & was totally cool about it & said he felt like the issue had been resolved. Guess who came along for the ride with him? SHANE!! Yeah, of course he had to make smart a** remarks referring to the amount of passengers. This time around, we actually did have a couple more than permitted but did he really have to once again be rude?? Are you kidding me? At that point I was ticked off, almost ruined my mood for the rest of the afternoon. The day went on... We return to the Marina & Shane was there waiting, so was his attitude & dirty looks. We then were told by Anthony, the manager that we had to pay a $30.00 cleaning deposit after he did in fact confirm that the stains on the floor were there prior to us taking the boat out, it was SHANE that was pushing the issue regarding some chip crumbs that were left on the floor. Seriously?? After speaking with Anthony he sided with us and didn't charge us the fee. At check out, Shane came in, I told him that I didn't appreciate his attitude, he denied ever being rude to me & didn't apologize. I thought of this to me very unprofessional and not the way to treat paying customers. Any star deductions were deducted especially from the treatment we received from Shane. Just had my first experience at Lake Nacimento. What a beautiful place. My understanding is this is the 1st Time in a long time the lake has been as full as it has been. Great time. Great fishing. Awesome stuff read more

I rented a ski boat last weekend. The staff were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They explained the in's and out's of the lake due to the water level being so low. The boat was a little rough shifting, but it's a rental. One suggestion, take a picture of the prop. It could be an issue when you check-in. Mine wasn't, because I had a picture. Lake Nacimiento.... My home away from home! I grew up on this lake as well as worked here and now happy to be sharing this gorgeous, serene lake with my kiddos. The campgrounds are clean, the rangers are great as far as boat inspections... But above all, the staff at the marina are amazing and friendly! Jacob especially! He is extremely helpful, always has a smile on his face while helping you! He is incredibly knowledgable in regards to boat rentals, and the layout of the lake! We have been there for multiple days and he stuck with us and took care of us as our liaison the whole time. Great feeling when ur traveling away from home! Thumbs up! read more

We rented a ski boat for two days. The boats were not the best...a bit old and worn down but the people who worked there made up for the boats shortcomings. We also rented a wakeboard, children's skis, and a tube. We had a fun time on the lake.l Specifically, Ty,John,Jessica , and Austin were very helpful,friendly, and polite when it came to customer service. I would recommend staying clear of Jacob as much as possible. read more
