I dropped my lamp off to be repaired and was told it would take "about a week". On the 8th day I hadn't heard anything so I called the store. Mind you when I dropped the lamp off for a simple wiring repair I was told it would be a little over 100 dollars which I thought was a lot of money, but the lamp had sentimental value so I agreed. There were lamps all over the store and I wasn't given a claim ticket or anything, I just walked out of the store thinking it was a small business and they would just remember me and my lamp without a claim ticket. My father owned a small business and he could remember every person he spoke to. After a week, I'd heard nothing so called the store, and I was asked to describe my lamp. I was caught a bit off guard by that but I described it as brass looking because it is. Now obviously there are a lot of brass colored lamps, and one would think an organized business person would assign claim tickets to items in order to keep track of them. The person I spoke to, I assume is the owner seemed to have no idea who I was or which lamp was mine, he put me on hold. He came back and advised that, after a week, my lamp was not done but that if I would call him by the end of the day he would have it done. I had advised I needed to travel for my job and I wanted this off my plate before I left town. I called later that day and was advised the lamp is done. The next morning I woke up an hour early to drive the 40 minutes to get the lamp. When I walked in, the lamp was sitting in the same place I'd left it 9 days earlier. I pointed at the lamp and said "I'm here to pick this up" and the man said "oh that's your lamp? It's not done. That lamp is more gold colored, you said yours was brass". If this man didn't have his head up his you-know-what, he would have a clue how to run a business. If you call their phone number, he doesn't answer with the name of the business, he just says "hello" and you have to ask if you've reached the lamp repair store. When I got there to pick up my unrepaired lamp, I found him out front smoking a cigarette. Classy. I left with my unrepaired lamp and the man could not have cared less that he wasted my time. So if you want to do business with moronic idiot who won't respect you, your business or your time, go for it.

However, the main job, a double tap on the panel was the requested service. He did correct the double tap by committing a perhaps more serious code violation, he removed the whole house surge protector. He was aware we did not have much time to correct this new code violation due to the house's scheduled closing. He advised he would be back in a couple of days. That was weeks ago. Tabitha is the person at this company that handles AHS calls. I called Tabitha multiple times. I only spoke to her only the first time and she acted as if I was disturbing her because I called. I advised her of the need for expediency and she was most unpleasant. All of the other many times I called and left messages were ignored. I even called American Home Shield immediately after another call to her in which she ignored. She answered AHS's call and advised them she was waiting on parts. AHS advised me to call her if she did not call me in a couple of days, those calls were ignored as well. She finally, after weeks, contacted me. She was aware it was too late but I guess she needed to close the service through AHS. Because of this company's neglect, we were forced to contact another company. We called Snyder Electric and they were wonderful. This was completed in an hour by Snyder. Cosmac/TLC Electric should be avoided. I could not imagine a worse experience with any company.

(October 2021) Even though it would be a small job - Gary scheduled us for a couple days later, and he and and his #1 assistant arrived promptly at the appointed time. After asking us how we came to believe that the receptacles were bad, and we told him of the home inspection - he re-checked them to ensure that they indeed needed replacement. Optimal worked quickly and efficiently to not only rectify the issues, they found a couple of additional problems with some wiring in the electrical panel that the inspector hadn't identified, and brought everything up to code. I only know enough about electricity to be a danger to myself and others, but Gary explained everything he was doing during the entire process...and I can say for a fact that he didn't try and do anything that wasn't necessary. I've already recommended Optimal to others and will continue to do so. Their work in my case was excellent, and reasonably priced. They are the best electrical specialists I've run across in a lot of years. Update: March, 2022... Moved to a different house and yes - had to call Optimal Electric again to resolve new issues. For one - we needed a new electrical panel installed, that "Had just been fixed". The panel (along with new wiring, breakers, etc) had been recently installed by another "Recommended electrician" working on his off hours, according to the people who had the work done. Well, it wasn't done right. Still having issues, I called Gary at Optimal, and he came out immediately. Gary took the time to point out numerous code violations and wiring issues that the other installer had created. Gary gave me options ranging from things we HAD to do, needed to do, and were just smart to do. He also got the work done very quickly and professionally. Keeping me informed of his progress every step of the way. Since then, I've used Optimal to install new outdoor electrical outlets and a wiring drop for a new tankless water heater. I also plan to call them back to hard wire electricity to our our storage shed in the back yard. Optimal Electric, Gary and his #1 assistant are simply the best you can get. They're also honest, professional and their prices are reasonable.

I am certainly going to give a shot next time.

He stated he was unaware of what had happened to my ceiling. He wanted to schedule someone to come out and take pictures, which honestly boiled my blood. I refused to let that happen again. Instead, I offered to send him pictures, which he agreed to. I promptly sent them accepted via email. He confirmed receipt. About a week later, I was wondering if I'd ever hear back. The next day, he called and said he would find a dry waller. A week after that, he found a dry waller and called to ask about my availability. I told him just book a date and a time with the dry waller and tell me what it is. I was trying to be as flexible as possible, to facilitate the repair. A couple days later he called and gave me the appointment date and time. The dry waller was on time. The job was completed in about three hours and it looks pretty good. Afterward, Jim called again to see if I was pleased with the work and mentioned painting the area. I declined the offer for painters, since I don't have any matching paint and I don't want to take the time to be there for another subcontractor. The hole is fixed; it can be painted later. I appreciated his gesture for the painters though. The incident occurred on Monday, November 15, 2021 and was repaired on Friday, January 21, 2022. Just over two months to get it fixed. I understand there were a few holidays in between those dates, so that's why I was being as flexible about it as I possibly could. At this point, I don't know if I'd hire them again, but at least I can say they came through in the end and made amends.
