I have been taking my dog to Lorain Animal Clinic for about 10 years for nail clipping. About 7 years ago, I moved 20 minutes away and tried several places closer. My dog will not allow anyone except Lorain Animal Clinic to cut his nails. Upon arriving yesterday, the receptionist told me this would be the last time his nails would be cut because they are not a groomer. When I tried.tried to explain my situation, she was extremely rude and unsympathetic. This is disappointing since all the other receptionist have always been great with me and my dog. read more

If there was a 0 star I would put that. The only professional person in this place is the office manager, Galissa. Everyone is rude, incompetant, money hungry and don't feel a damn thing for our animals. They push through exams like McDonald's makes food. They don't take time to listen to your concerns. They are evasive when you ask to see test results......like X-rays. You charged me, I paid for the tests, and after my dog dies then you give me some fake talk about how this happened to your dog. Don't piss in my shoe and tell me it's raining. I never did get to see the test results. Many of the employees are family, so they naturally don't have to worry about losing their jobs, so they have free reign to do what they want. Someone should take a pooper scooper to this place to remove unwanted waste. read more

We have been going to this clinic for years and we always see Dr. Hudson. Our dog was diagnosed with the renal failure and a few days later we had to put her down. The clinic couldn't fit her in for two days and when we got there we found out it was not with our usual vet, but with Dr. Wood instead. But he then passed us off to his nephew who is a vet tech. He had the worst bedside manners I have ever seen. No compassion, no empathy, no caring words from Dr. Wood or the nephew. When the vet tech came to administer the shot that would relax her, he stabbed her so hard with the needle, we're pretty sure it went all the way through her leg. . He was not gentle and didn't even try to make it not hurt. She was a 4 pound little Yorkie with a leg, not much bigger than a pencil, and he stabbed her very hard. She cried so loud and tried to bite him and in her 14 years, she had never tried to bite anyone. When he came back to administer the final shot that would stop her heart, he left the room immediately. Nobody stayed with us to tell us she had passed and nobody ever came back to check on us or her or to confirm that she had passed. I had to go to the back door twice to get the attention of somebody at the end for them to come and take her. It was the worst experience we have ever had euthanizing an animal. I wrote a very long letter to the clinic and let my vet know and she did come out and give me a hug the next day and tell me she was so sorry but I never heard another word from the Clinic after that. Because Dr. Wood is the owner and his nephew is the one that did this to our poor little Bella in her last minutes of life, I'm sure nothing will be done to change this behavior. I just hope nobody ever has to experience what we did at this clinic. If you do have to go there, I highly recommend you ask for Dr. Hudson. She is wonderful. Their prices are very fair when it comes to euthanizing and having the dog cremated compared to other clinics, but it definitely was a horrible experience and one I will never forget. read more

Dr Hudson has seen my pets for years when they use to be a walk in clinic so I am very familiar with the practice. My issue is she takes the pet to the back room so quick once you get in the room and charges a exam charge without doing any kind of exam. Next thing your sent to the waiting room and you have to stop her to find out what is wrong. read more

Thank you a million times for getting my mom's cat in the same day I called. We had lost our main vet as they closed their doors about a year ago. They said to drive into their parking lot and call them. They'll let you know if it's safe to come in or give you other instructions. The ladies at the front desk were so kind I was in complete unbelief. There has been many a place lately that customer service has gone down substantially. I am forever grateful for the way we were treated. We had been running around so much that day I was so stressed and flustered. So it was a breathe of fresh air and it calmed me down. The vet was EXCELLENT!! The vet techs were very kind as well. I actually through records found that my mother had visited this vet a few years ago, I didn't know that. I had visited when it was another name, I think it was called Tower Veterinary Clinic or something of that nature. That was around 15-20 years ago or so. At that time I was always scared of the bill at the end so I stopped going. I don't know the metamorphosis that it went through to become Lorain Animal Clinic, but it was a great change. My elderly mom was able to afford the vet bill. I'm am seriously contemplating driving an hour just to take my pets to this clinic. Moral of the story, it all started with kindness over the phone and throughout the entire experience. So receptionist, administrative assistant, vet tech and vet if you feel that you wanted to do something important, you do everyday. You make someone's life just a little better with your smile over the phone (yes it really does get felt through your voice) and your compassion and understanding that just made someone's day a little brighter. Came home from 2 wk vacation to find our dog very sick. Called clinic on Sunday night and left a voicemail explaining the seriousness of of his illness. Dr Hudson called me the next morning at 7:40 and had me bring him in at 9:30. Amazing empathy, communication and concern for the pet as well as the owners. I would recommend this clinic to anyone looking for reliable and caring animal clinic. Also want to mention that the staff were so very kind and were friendly whenever I spoke to them. I buy Paco's special canned food from them and always so friendly and the food is in stock. The prices are within a manageable area. My friend recommended them to us and I am so very happy that we chose to go there. Thank you Dr Hudson and all of the staff. You all go above and beyond. Bless you. read more

i took my poor skippy in there yesterday 8-26-24 at approximately 10:35 a.m. to have him euthinized. dr.virgina hudson, administered an ejection, that cause my skippy to scream, she never even apologized, so my skippy should have never suffered in his final moments with me, i stayed with him as he was sitting on my lap as i was hugging, kissing @ saying my final goodbye's to my poor precious skippy. i wouldn't recommend this monster of a heartless vet to anyone ever, nor even your facility. i'm going after her license @ filing a negligent care lawsuit @ compensation for the stress you have caused me and the pain they caused my 16 year old pekingese skippy. she's lucky that she was a woman, if a man doctor, would if done that i'd be in jail for knocking his teeth down his throat for abusing treatment in my dog. that worthless p.o.s. needs her license revoked indefinite. read more

WORST veterinarian in the area. Took my dog in for vomiting blood and acting lethargic, they ran blood tests and said it was GI issues and gave us meds. Within 3 weeks my dog couldn't stand so took him to a different vet and they found CANCER through his ENTIRE body. How could DR NICKI M FALBO DVM miss something like this? Paid almost 400$ for an issue my dog didn't even have and had to put him down 3 weeks later. WORST VET EVER. read more

Dr. Woods clearly is concerned with "QUANTITY OVER QUALITY". I was referred to this office by a friend to get a specific flea med because my vet didn't stock them so, I figured I would also knock out his annual physical and shots at the same time. As soon as we walked in the door, we were ushered into an exam room due to the other dogs barking and lunging at my dog when we walked in. after waiting in this room for FIFTY minutes and calling the front desk FROM THE EXAM ROOM to see if we were even checked in. Dr. Woods finally "graced us" with his presence. I explained to Dr. Woods about my dog having fleas and wanting drops and asked about how to treat the house. I also showed him a cyst- to which he replied was of no concern. He then told me that my dog would be getting a "COMPLETE PHYSICAL", shots, and they would also trim his nails. He asked for my leash to take my dog to the back where his kennels are, and I complied- assuming that he just needed to take him to get a weight. Not even 2min later I hear a BLOOD CURDLING scream from my dog! I run into the back and observe Dr. Woods standing there while a tech is on the floor attempting to cut my dogs nails. My dog has high anxiety and I told the tech I would cut nails at home. Dr. Woods then walks me back to the exam room and proceeds to go over the bill. He had THE AUDACITY to tell me that HE did a complete HEAD-TO-TOE physical on my dog (in the TWO MINUTES that my dog was in the back). I called him out on this, and told him that our regular vet does the physical in front of us so that we can ask questions. I told him that there is NO WAY he was able to do a complete head to toe physical in that short of time and that I have the right to be present when they are doing a physical on my dog because I may have questions. He responded with "Well, that's NOT how WE do things here!" I told him that I have no way of even knowing IF he even looked at my dog, let alone doing a head to toe physical. He responded with "Well, you need to trust me". Flabbergasted by this response, I said "Are you kidding?! I don't even know you, we are not even established with you- Why would I trust you???" (Mind you, he left his stethescope in the exam room with me so, I KNOW FOR A FACT that he NEVER listened to heart and lung sounds on my dog). When I called Dr. Woods out on this, got notably upset. His tone turned very condescending and he told me I should go back to our regular vet- to which I agreed. He told me to go cash out- which I was fine with. As I was preparing to head to the front, Dr. Woods, hastily comes back into the exam room and tells me to put my dog on the exam table and that he's going to show me that he "knows how to give a complete physical", by this time I had already been at this office for almost TWO hours and had to leave to pick up my son. When I told Dr. Woods this, he exclaimed "Well, that's not my problem". I asked him what is the point in having an appoinment then? He didn't answer me and just left the room. I went to cash out up front, and he stormed front up to the receptionist and screamed out "THERE'S NO CHARGE!!!" I told them that I purchased flea products and I will at least pay for that. He screamed out "NO! DON'T PAY FOR ANYTHING!!". I took my card back, and as Dr. Woods walked back to the kennels, he shouted from the top of his lungs "AND DON'T YOU COME BACK!!!!". Moral of the story: I KNOW for a FACT that my dog DID NOT GET a complete physical, and I don't even know if he got shots! I took my dog Juno here on May 29th because his stomach was bloated and he was off balance. We saw Dr Hudson and she immediately saw that there was something wrong and did x-rays. She found that he had a large tumor on his spleen and he would need to have surgery. I took Jumo last week to West Park Animal Hospital to have surgery and he ended up having further complications and had to be put down. Dr Hudson was very caring. My issue is with the previous Dr that we saw back in February when I took Juno and my other dog to get their vaccinations. I told him (not sure what his name was Dr Woods?) back then that I had noticed a bulge in his abdomen that wasn't there before. He did a quick look and told me it was a gland...a damn gland. I felt like he just wanted to get us out of there because they were busy that day. My heart is broken (my son crushed) and I am angry because if he would have taken the time to care and do some x-rays we could have caught this before it got out of control and we'd still have our Juno. Most everyone else there has been kind and caring, but we likely will not be returning. I don't want my pets to be treated like another number. You become a vet to help animals because they can't help themselves... Not to make a quick buck. read more

This Vet is an absolute disaster. All three of my dogs were assaulted today at this vet and I will never take another one of my pets there. I called to have my dogs get their distemper and bordatella shots. Because I was going to have 2 of my dogs teeth cleaned. I wasn't able to take my dogs in. So I sent them with my 19 year old daughter. She came back after spending over 400 dollars on shots. My dog's were not up for their rabies shots until September. Not only did they not read my dogs chart. But these people are not even smart enough to read a dog's tag. All three of my dogs had their rabies tag on their harnesses. They also tested my dogs for heart worms. Which was not only never discussed. But I live in northeast Ohio. My little dogs live indoors. I treat my dogs and my yard. So that is not a necessary test that I get for my dogs. This place runs animals through like a car through a chop shop. So I guess that explains why the vet is driving a Lamborghini. This clinic has always been attentive, prompt and friendly. Prices seem to compare to other places I've tried. On a recent visit to get a make cat fixed, they had some concern about his surgery site, so they kept him over the weekend, no charge, to ensure he was actually ready to come home. The first time I came here was on an emergency basis. The vet, Dr. Hudson; treated us like we've been coming here for years. She even called us on a Sunday to see how my dog was doing . I went there today to put my Australian Shepherd down, he was 16yrs old. Broke my heart could hardly talk to the receptionist. She was so kind and knew I was having a hard time, she told me to bring him in and took me straight to a room. The veterinarian and his assistants were so nice and understood what I was going through,and didn't make me feel horrible about putting him down because he was blind and deaf and could hardly walk anymore. This was the hardest thing I had to do,but having them there to talk too, as they explain everything to me, how I could stay with him. Everyone that was involved were so caring and so compassionate. I take all of my pets here for all of their needs and I'm extremely satisfied with the care they receive. The doctors and staff are great! Vet costs can be high but they offer their services at lower cost than other vets I've been to. If I take all three of my dogs at the same time I only have to pay for one office visit and then individual cost for treatments, shots, etc. I recommend the Lorain Animal Clinic and have become a loyal patron. read more

We have been using this clinic for years. They saved one dog from Parvo and only charged $300....let me tell you, this pup was sick. He only had about a 25% chance. They kept him for 5 days and were very nice when my daughter called daily, sometimes 2-3x a day to get updates. Just this morning I had to take the same dog back when I discovered he got into D-con. We called 20 min before they even opened and was told to bring him right in. Less then $100 later and our pup is going to be ok! read more

I've had good experiences here, although it kinda has the feel of an "assembly line." No appointments are needed, you just walk in and wait your turn to be seen during their somewhat restricted hours. I also don't like that they take your animal into the back to have blood drawn or shots administered. I'd rather have that done in my presence. Just a comfort issue. Overall, I'd take my animals here in a pinch with no problem. read more

So happy we went! Everyone is SO nice both on the phone and in person! I took our dog there for a food allergy issue because our regular vet didn't have soon enough openings. The Lorain Animal Clinic has a great set-up where you simply walk in! You don't make an appointment, you just wait your turn to be seen; this makes it easy to be able to bring your animal in for any kind of visit....whether that's an emergency, a sickness, a quick nail trim, or a regular check-up, etc.! You do have to plan to sit and wait, but if you get there early and wait outside the door, you may have less people in front of you (or you may get there first!). If your animal is not good with waiting amongst all the other patients, they will give you a pager that will beep when its your turn! This way you can wait outside or in your car! I also had my dog get his nails trimmed and ears cleaned while he was there, and they did SUCH a great job! I could tell they did not cut his nails too short (they are black too which makes it harder), and they plucked the perfect amount of hair from his ears! I took both my rescue cats in for annual shots; second time both had been to LAC. New vet so I explained that while both had been here before please take extra care as they were abused prior to my adoption. I've been a cat "momma" for over 40 years....and NEVER have I ever experienced anything like what happened to one of my cats last week. While never having cats removed for shots/exam/etc. (unless emergency situation) - calming if I'm with them, this particular clinic whisks them to a back room (which by the way is also the dog kennel - hello!) while you wait for them to be brought back. Counterintuitive to calmness for cats. I heard my male growling and in distress ... after more than 3 minutes of hearing this and laughter and chasing sounds, I entered to find my boy with a catch collar around his little neck with him trying to climb the wall, and 3 VERY young employees trying to aggressively catch him all while laughing - the vet standing near doing nothing. Anyone who knows cats, knows that if you back away and put his/her carrier near after any treatments, ALL cats will run into their carrier. In hind sight I should have told them to clear the room .... but instead I leaned in to push his carrier near him .... he couldn't differentiate at that point because these ill trained, inexperienced people where still surrounding him ... and as he fell from the wall his bit my hand as I was trying to push his carrier to him. Now, I'm bleeding all over everything - screening that my friend get my babies the hell out of here....which he did. The vet - name escapes me - look at my bleeding hand and suggested I wash it "with the green stuff" because cat bites can be nasty. REALLY!!? Outside of the receptionist asking "what happened in there," - as I needed to pay my $186 bill - NO one offered to waive the vet fee, apologize, follow up NOTHING. This may have been a good clinic at one time, but it is NO longer. For shame, because I had to go to the emergency ($350 bill) - and take antibiotics for the last 10 days!!! Surreal. I type for a living and have NOT had the use of my left hand since this atrocity of care/service!!! I will NEVER take my babies back to this clinic, and I will tell anyone who will listen ..... never never again. dr hudson was not very kind to our cat that had a stroke. she picked her up in mid air by the back of her neck and said real nasty, you bit me last time you were here and wont ever do that again. and proceeded to hold her like that walking into the back room. did surgery on our other cat that had cancer and it was right back in a couple of mths. took her to a professional vet this time. when our new vet asked me to get her records the women who worked there were not friendly anymore since i was not coming back. they sent just that our cat had been spade shots and mammary gland removed, never mentioned in detail about anything so the mammary gland was removed but not the tumor. so my new vets staff called these people and was totally rude and nasty to them too. then i got an email back saying they have over 30,000 patients a year that were happy there. well if you do the math this is what it comes out to. they are only open 24 hrs a wk and that is 98 hours a mth. so that means they see 21 pets an hour? no way and no way is quality care being given then. very unprofessional dr hudson. dr wood is fine but im done with them read more
