    Bear skat

Beautiful park. Easy to socially distance. Did notice a lack of maintenance in some areas, presumably due to COVID at this time. Beaver Lake was covered in weeds, so wasn't really visible. The trails were beautiful. Spotted mountain bikers, joggers, families, horseback riders, and walkers. Main trails are wide and easily accommodate strollers. Saw several piles of bear skat, and talked with a lady who spotted one near Beaver Lake. Also, saw several types of birds and small critters and found a hatched Robin egg. Cell reception can be spotty, so I highly recommend taking a photo of the map. The trails are intertwining and extensive, and it could be VERY easy to get lost. If you need some fresh air - you will love Lord Hill Park. Please note that there's ample parking, but only two outhouses available at the entrance. Also, there's no playground at this park.

An afternoon in the woods was a great antidote to the Covid craziness that can feel all consuming these days. We arrived at 11:30 on a Sunday and got one of the last spots in the parking lot. There were enough people on the trail to help when we got the trails mixed up, but few enough to allow for plenty of woodsy peace and quiet. Many of the trails aren't marked so it's a good idea to snap a pic of the map at the trailhead. The West View Trail was rocky and would be difficult for someone not sure on their feet. Oh, one more thing? There's no longer a view on the WV trail. For a view we were told to go left at the Main Trail T and head for Beaver Lake. Yay! Now we have a destination for next time!

Plenty of trails to choose from, but bring good shoes because several of the trails are quite muddy right now! The parking lot was full, but there are so many trails that we only ran into a couple of people that day. Beaver lake isn't so much of a lake, but there are definitely beavers among the many other animal residents found on the trails. Keep an eye out for horse droppings. Even on the trails that are clearly marked as "no horses" aren't safe. This is a great spot, though. The numerous trails make it easy to make a different path each time and it's easy to choose your distance. It was definitely worth the drive!

Lord Hill is a lovely little park on the outskirts of Snohomish with miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. We took a very nice day hike there on a recent spring day and only scratched the surface...I'd love to go back again soon. Our hike, round trip, was probably somewhere between 4 and 5 miles on dirt trails over a rolling, wooded terrain with very little overall elevation change. For hardcore hikers, this would be cake; even for a lazy buffoon like me, it wasn't too bad. The trails have some muddy areas and the occasional horse apples to avoid. There are trail markers and maps at various points along the way that are informative for the most part...there were a few spots where trails split or criss-crossed and weren't labeled quite as well. The landscape features a lot of gnarled old mossy trees and ferns that give way in other areas to second-growth deciduous or mixed forest, and also to some large beaver ponds where a lot of sunlight gets through. The beaver ponds were great for bird watching (ducks, mergansers, flickers and the like)...we didn't see any beavers, but we saw their dams and hutches, and we also got a couple of good up-close looks at garter snakes. We had hoped to take the River Trail all the way down to a bank of the Snohomish River, but alas, one of those poorly marked trail forks outsmarted us...bastards. For as lovely a day as it was, we saw very few other people. No Discover Pass or other parking passes or fees are required, and there was plenty of parking available in the main lot on a sunny Saturday. The parking area is adjacent to a private residence/farm with a small herd of grazing sheep for you to baa-a-a-a at while you're loafing around your car.

Not safe for horses or hikers. Bikers on trails and roads they are not supposed to be on zooming on by.

There are "no trespassing" signs all over the place and what appeared to be a private residence in the nearby area. Whether this area is open for just anybody to visit is still a mystery to me. But first, let's backtrack a little bit. This place is also in the middle of nowhere. I was told before coming here that it would be located in Snohomish. Shortly before arriving, however, I passed a sign that said "now leaving Snohomish," which seemed counterintuitive. So not only could I not tell whether this place is public or private, but I don't even know what city it's in. Fortunately, the problems end there for the most part. Well, the day was hot, but that's not a fault with this site. It's just a large patch of grass with some shelter and a few things to do. Not a whole lot of stuff, but I suppose this place is more fun than it would be if there were nothing here but a grassy field. First, a stream called the Pilchuck River runs nearby; it's shallow enough to wade through and not nearly deep enough to swim in, not that I would advise swimming in such water. The shelter provides for the opportunity to host barbecues. A volleyball net and a place for throwing horseshoes appear to be set up, though I can't guarantee they'll always be there. The bathroom is in a central location; it's a white building with green doors. The place is surprisingly clean and well-maintained considering its relatively remote location. Working faucets, soap, and paper towels actually exist at this bathroom. Overall, this park is fun to hang around in for a few hours, but it doesn't offer much incentive to stay any longer.

There are twelve 9' long picnic tables - enough seating for the largest of gatherings using plastic tablecloths from the dollar store.

It is located south of Lowell Park and has a sign reading Lowell Riverfront Trail out front of an entrance to a large parking lot. The river is visible beyond a grassy area(s) and vegetation from the parking lot. A flat paved trail winds through the cover of trees and has picnic tables spaced out along its side(s). The grass was cut short on my visit today. A few people were making use of an off-leash dog area past one end of the large parking area. There was a watch out for bears alert sign on the trail and birds were out and singing. An assortment of small wild flowers were in bloom closer to the river. Water flow at the top of the river was slow and the bank of the river muddy. Even with a few people out and about around 10:40 a.m. on a weekday, the park/trail was tranquil.

I'm subtracting a star because of the bathroom state. They have two (family) bathrooms which were just filthy pit toilets, swarming with flies and smelling like rotten feces. I would only take a shit here in the most dire of emergencies.
