Dishonest. Broke my big flower pot and tried to hide the broken piece in my compost, even turned the flower pot to a different side so I wouldn't see it's broken. I later found out and checked my video surveillance. They had the lowest quote for my big oak tree, but only spent two hours and said job is done. Clearly they only trimmed a little bit and gave me excuses on how they can't trim down more because they will get in trouble (from the city). I've had better pruning companies spent more time doing the same tree, got the job done and didn't mess up my flower pot. We hired Lorenzo and his crew based on the promptness of his bid, his competitive bid, and his overwhelmingly excellent reviews - to which we are adding our own. Without incident, they safely removed a 75' Deodar Cedar that was leaning unnervingly towards our house and ground the stump down to a depth of @ 3ft making it possible to plant another in its place. Of course, this is what we paid for. But we received so much more than that. He also patiently listened to what we wanted with all the wood and had his men carefully measure and cut the trunk into a dozen 8-9" cross-cuts to be used as "stepping stones" in the backyard, six 2-ft trunk sections to be used as sitting posts around the property, multiple 3" crosscuts to be fashioned into tabletops, two 3&1/2-ft long benches and the largest section of the trunk (@ 16") to be used (eventually) as a coffee table stand. He also spread hundreds of pounds of "clean" mulch (no green needles) around our fruit trees and garden pits. He did all of this without complaint when it would've much easier (and less time-consuming) for him to send it all through the chipper. But best of all, when he was done, we could hardly he and his men had spent 8 hours there because of how thoroughly and carefully he cleaned-up all around the property. He left only what we asked him to leave and hauled away everything else. I don't think we've EVER experienced a contractor treat our property with as much care and respect. Lorenzo is also a genuinely nice man with a terrific work-ethic who does exactly what he says he'll do - and then a little more. A large (60 or so feet) pine tree in our front yard succumbed to the dreaded pine beetle and had to be removed. I contacted several providers and decided to go with Lorenzo. I have tree stump next to the fence with irrigation lines on both sides that couldn't be accessed by the grinder. Lorenzo's crew dug the stump out manually. I also had a great time chatting with Lorenzo afterwards talking about his history with the business and growing fruit trees etc. The only one downside was we had a large potted yucca tree that was completely cut down which was miscommunicated to the crew. It was a bit upsetting given that tree was from my wife's grandparents and had been around for a long time. That's why I deducted a star. These guys are from a local business. And their quotes came back as one of the two best. I recommend shopping around and have these guys in your contacts list. You'll be surprised at the potential range of cost variation. I have a hackberry tree in the rear patio of my townhome and it needed trimming to bring the branches away from the roof and off the garage (a separate structure). I'd contacted Lorenzo's Tree Service a couple of weeks ago - they arranged for an estimate on a Saturday morning. His crew member arrived a bit after the scheduled time and took a look at what needed to be done. We agreed on a price but I wanted to see if other services could come give estimates, so we didn't finalize the date at that time. All the other estimates came in higher so I wanted to finalize the schedule with Lorenzo. I ended up trying to confirm with him on a Sunday evening for a Monday morning time slot, which he agreed to, but likely was too late to confirm with his crew members, because his crew missed that time slot. I didn't have time to follow-up until near the end of the week. Once I did, he was very responsive and apologized, and we set a new date and time. On the follow-up date, he arrived early and quickly set to work. My parents were at home while I was at work and so they oversaw the work as it was being done. The trimming took less time to complete than initially estimated, and they cleaned up after themselves very well. The price was as previously agreed upon (though there may have been some initial confusion at arrival - possibly the agreed upon price wasn't communicated clearly by the crew member conducting the original estimate(?), as I'd prepared the payment for the original date).
