The best part to me is that he took the appointment seriously, if there is anything happened that he could not make it, he communicated, and we rescheduled it. In short: We asked Fernando to help clean our front and back yard with hopes we could continue a working relationship for garden maintenance. He gave us a reasonable quote and sent us a text for a clean up time and day. My husband said to me when I came home, "I have no complaints," and he always had one with previous gardeners. We are hoping to continue using his services. For more details and information: Our history with working with previous gardeners taught us that our garden and garden decor would be damaged or not respected. Fernando was different from them. When I came home, I immediately felt a sense of calm. He trimmed the grass low enough to see the grass and made it look very manicured. Our wild ground covers were trimmed back to make it look more landscaped. The debris from the grass and plant cutting were cleaned away. It was probably the best debris clean up. He even cleaned up along the fence (other clean ups we had didn't do that). He also has knowledge on plant care which we very much appreciated. He understood that hand pulling weeds in certain and more sensitive area (like my pollinator garden for bees and monarch butterflies) made the most sense while an electrical tool in larger areas was more appropriate there. Previous clean ups and maintenance involved ONLY electrical tools which ALWAYS damaged my plants. My garden decor was also very respected. Our ground lights, although could be annoying to work around, was taken care of. There were some small items like our plastic watering can placed on our AC unit or a wooden slab put on our plant, but because they weren't damaged and because I know that some of our stuff were in random areas to begin with, I didn't use those to judge Fernando's work. I am only mentioning here because I do believe in an all-rounded and honest review. We are more grateful of his work and care than little minor situations. Moving forward, I hope we can continue working with Fernando. I'm excited to work with someone who cares about the earth and nature to help me maintain my garden and our rugged landscape. Being parents of a young one gives us less time to work in the garden, so it was really important for me and my husband to find someone who could treat our garden with the same attention and love we used to give when we had more time! We called Fernando to fix our drip irrigation system and general garden maintenance. Fernando is very knowledgeable about irrigation and sprinkler systems. We had problems with two irrigation bulbs. 1. For the first one, he quickly replaced the build and fixed the water leak. 2. The irrigation build was not working, and it had to be fixed. He did a quality job in fixing this issue as well. What we appreciated about Fernando's approach is that he tried first to fix the problem that would be inexpensive for us. Recent trenching for plumbing problems necessitated lawn replacement, and we're thankful we hired Fernando to install new sod for us. We're very pleased with his work and also the grass mix of sod that he advised for our site. Besides merely replacing sod, he problem-solved issues he knew we would have with the existing old (installed decades ago) sprinkler system, which he wisely encouraged us to address. I had 2 projects that needed some attention. A resting wall and replacement of the slats on our pergola. The retaining wall that I built over 20 years ago has been slowly failing over the years. The concrete bricks that I used had started falling into the channel that takes the water out to the street. During the atmospheric storm at the end of October, mud and rocks filled the channel and the bricks caused an overflow into the neighbor's yard. I contacted Fernando when my front sprinkler system failed due to tree roots destroying the plumbing. Fernando was quick to come out and asses the situation. He ended up replacing everything including the copper plumbing ball valve to the main water line as well as the three circuit manifold and most of the PVC plumbing and sprinkler heads. My Dichondra lawn and I are very happy with the results as the system is now functioning like it did when it was new over 50 years ago.
