While you can drive through the grounds for free, to visit the home and museum you'll need tickets to a guided tour. They do provide military discounts! Highly recommend getting the combined museum and Loretta Lynn's (LL) house tour ticket. Our tour guide didn't seem very excited. My hubby thought she wasn't feeling well. But I could see how the right guide could take the tour to the next level. A replica of LLs old KY home is furnished with personal items, like her parents shoes. Very endearing. A replica of her tour bus is inside the museum, and you can walk through it. The actual bus is in the parking lot of the museum. The museum is quite the gem. So many beautiful gowns, and memorabilia from LL long career, as well as many other artists. Run down, outdated, well past it's prime. You can drive past her house, no fee for that. They wanted $35 for a tour that they should be happy to get $5 for. Everything is really old. They tried to make a little village and tourist place but it was kind of a joke. The gift shop was terrible with a bunch of fake t shirts and cookie mixes with her name slapped on them. This is an amazing museum and tour. It covers Loretta Lynn from her childhood to her singing career to the legacy that she left behind that has been kept alive by her family. There is a replica model of her Kentucky home. You get a lower level tour of her mansion, and for a certain price an opportunity to walk through her museum. Lots of memorabilia covering every aspect of her life. Including displays and authentic items from her tour and the movie Coal Miners Daughter. The museum is a little overwhelming and doesn't always flow well. The highlight for me is the actual jeep used in the movie Coal Miners Daughter. One note...you do not get to visit her graveside. I'm not a huge fan, but have liked her since she recorded "Coal Miners daughter" in the 60's. She's famous enough that I'd wanted to see her 'place' for some time, since it's so close to Nashville and Memphis, easily accessible off I40. Took that opportunity today, and it was nice. No Graceland, mind you, but impressive nonetheless. The replica of her Kentucky childhood home was interesting not only for the obvious poverty (though I differ with the tour guide - this isn't just an Appalachian picture, but common to rural poor in many states), but also the details leftover from the movie. The mansion was impressive, with items from her career, and also some reminders of the movie shot in some rooms. read more

Well, I can't give this a real review because I only saw the outside. We made a detour for it specially. There's her mansion, a replica of the house she grew up in, a museum, one or two other things. But you can't see ANYTHING unless you pay for the full guided tour of the whole thing. You can't even just pay and go on your own and explore the museum. All or nothing. So, we didn't have time for everything, so couldn't do anything. Pretty annoying. So unless you are planning on spending about 1 1/2 -2 hours, don't bother with this place. We left. I had the time of my life at Loretta Lynn's Ranch. I'm a HUGE fan of hers and this was a present from my dear aunt upon her passing. My husband is now a Loretta fan as much as I am, country music isn't even his style but I brought him over to the right side :) I got to meet Ernest Ray Sr, he was the friendliest and most down to earth person, "If it wasn't for y'all fans we wouldn't have the life we do." We had other plans on our trip across Tennessee but the weather did not cooperate. We saw a billboard for Loretta Lynn's Ranch and thought, why not? We are so glad we did! A true rags to riches story of a woman who never forgot her roots. We felt that the tour was worth it, because we saw the recreation of her original family home, the home she and Mooney raised their children in later, and the huge museum. Most of the staff we spoke with had stories about her, and some are part of the family. The information on the tour about the area and history of the family was very interesting to us. The museum of her dresses, family pictures, music and other items was fun, and there are hand written notes by Loretta on some of the displays. The extra stores that they have by the museum (western store, kitchen store in the old mill, and boutique) had fun items at reasonable prices. There is a campground there as well, and we think it would be a fun place to spend some time in the outdoors. We also stopped at the general store which is on the road across from the ranch entrance, and had a great conversation with them besides eating a delicious fried bologna sandwich! I think it's a fun stop for anyone who recognizes Loretta Lynn's name. read more

I went to Loretta Lynn's Ranch for their yoga festival and I had an amazing time! It was my first time visiting her ranch and I was very impressed! The ranch is huge and the grounds are really pretty. There is a creek that run through the property. I tent camped right next to the creek. They rent kayaks to go kayaking down the creek. It takes about 45 minutes and was really fun! In the town of Hurricane Mills (on the ranch property), they offer a variety of tours through Loretta's old home, a replica of her childhood home, a replica of a coal mine and the Loretta Lynn Museum. I took a tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you're thinking of visiting Loretta Lynn's Ranch, it's definitely worth a visit! read more

I'm not kidding when I say that coming here was a bit of a dream come true. I think the only thing that would have made my trip more magical was actually meeting the woman herself. The grounds are HUGE and incredible. She has a full redneck wonderland on sight for people to come and enjoy; camping grounds, dirt track for racing, fishing, etc. You name it in the great outdoors and there is room on her land to come and do it. I didn't participate in the house tours because it was booked out by the time we got there but we did roam the museum on sight and it was kind of magical. To see all of her history in addition to the other tidbits of musical history she has contributed to and collected over the years-just incredible. I cried, I laughed, I swooned all during the day. The whole experience is very hooky and down home fun and not one to miss if you are anywhere in the vicinity. It was an 1 1/2 drive from Nashville and well worth each mile. read more

What a lovely little campground! Our family and dog came here to test out our new tent trailer and because I love Loretta Lynn!!! I've seen the movie a million times and it only gets better with age. This site has a lot to offer museum tours, camping, horse stables, music, moto cross and even some free events for the community. The grounds are beautiful and close to the Land Between the Lakes and Lake Kentucky for tons of enjoyable outdoor activities. We had a great time exploring the area and the county seat of Waverly is just about 7 miles away. It's a nice little town with family-owned restos and little antique shops. So why only four stars instead of 5? Well....I was a bit dismayed that the bathrooms always smelled of cigarette smoke each time I went in during our visits, the sinks also lacked hot water which made washing my little boy's hands unpleasant for him since it was very chilly in the evening when we visited and he didn't like the cold water. The grounds also have too many lights around the camping areas which increased the insects flying around our site. The lights made it hard to enjoy the night sky and our campfire. However...I can see how some might like the lights if they have a lot of children. We will be back for certain and plan to enjoy some of the events they hold there! read more

My sister and I rented a cabin here. It had black bugs all over the bed and it smells really bad with a smell they use to cover up other odors. The cabin was dangerous to walk up the stairs. No ventilation upstairs and we ended up having to go to a hotel down the street since we couldn't breathe in there. There is a reason why they don't give refunds. Because this place sucks. read more

I absolutely loved it here. My mom and I came on Memorial Day weekend on Friday. We were not able to spend the night, but we spent about 5 hours here. It is $25 a person to do the museum, tour the Butcher Holler house, tour the coal mine simulation, and tour the plantation house. And it is well worth it. I would wear tennis shoes (or whatever you are comfortable walking in). The tour is a lot of walking and there are stairs and gravel parking lots. We got there at 11:30 and we were told we would be on the 2:00 tour (the previous ones were sold out). That was fine with us. We did the museum first (took about a one and a half hours for us). We did the first room and a row of the second before anyone else came in. It was so entertaining and interesting to see everything (and there is a lot). We then had lunch at the snack shop (I had a grilled chicken sandwich and fries & my mom had the fries balonga sandwich), they were very good. And we got black souvenir cups too. Loved the tour. Very informative and beautiful houses. The coal mine simulation was awesome. There are plenty of gift shops, so give yourself time to go through them all. My favorite was the Lady Loretta Botique...that is Loretta's personal shop (she chooses what goes in it). I bought a signed book for $20. Prices were very reasonable. It's a nice place to visit but the cabin was overpriced and had no dresser, closet or dishes. And you have to pay for wifi that is anywhere from $10 to $35 PER DEVICE. With the price of the cabin being so high the wifi should be included. But the people are very nice. read more

We will never stay here again. Such a terrible cabin experience for as much money as it is. We were supposed to have 2 beds... one on the ground floor and one in the loft, but the loft was completely bare... just a wood floor. And the one bed had little black dead bugs all over it. The shower was filthy and looked like someone had washed off dirt on the last stay and the cleaning staff failed to notice it. There were no plates/dishes/silverware/cookware... NOTHING except for 4 coffee mugs. I assumed this was a mistake and called the office. Nope. They don't supply the basic needs. This is something they should consider putting on their website. I looked it all over again and didn't see any mention to bring your own pots/pans/plates/forks if you want to eat. We had to make a trip to a grocery store to get things we needed. Came back and opened the grill to throw some hotdogs on and there was no way to even attempt to put charcoal in. Giant hole in the bottom and the grill was so gross and rusted. So even with the purchased kitchen supplies, we had no way to even prepare our food! Worst stay at any cabin... ever. We would have been better off staying in our car and eating bags of chips. We have lived in Tennessee for the better part of 10 years and have always wanted to go to Loretta Lynn's ranch. My wife is a huge fan, and has stated on numerous occasions she wanted me to bring her to the ranch. I was ambivalent, mainly due to my own ignorance to her amazing story and music. I finally said let's go, so we hopped on the motorcycle and rode the two hours to get there. When we got there the motocross was in full swing. Pretty amazing stuff there, we are not motocrossers but can appreciate what they do, as well as the sheer amount of people at the ranch. When we got to the western store, we were greeted by a knowledgeable girl that told us the tour schedule. We stated we were hungry and asked if there was a restaurant or something we could go to. She was honest and said there is only one person, essentially saying we needed to manage our expectations. We had no other option so we went. Mind you, it's 12:00pm, lunch time, and there is a huge motocross championship, which is nationally aired on property. When we got to the snack bar, the only person working there was changing the fryer oil... at 12:00... When I was a young man, I worked in a restaurant that had fryers, we changed them at two times, at closing or (if necessary) during a slow time. She was a one person show and it showed. She was absent minded with our order and the nice elderly couple that missed the first part of the guided tour due to her. It took roughly 20 minutes to get a hamburger and a hotdog and I had to remind her three times for our drinks. The food was burnt. She never changed her gloves from the time she took the people in front of us's money to the time we left, included to handling food and other people's money. Another worker came in to see if she needed help, naturally she said no, that it "wasn't my first rodeo." Look, I'm not naive, I'm sure no one goes to the ranch for the food, but it ruined the tour for my wife and I, as well as the nice elderly couple that traveled to the ranch with their family to support their grandson racing. It's just too bad that there was not prior planning to put extra manning in the only snack bar/restaurant in the area and ensure the snack bar was stocked and on proper working order prior to opening during the motocross. read more

I literally arrived a few minutes ago. I drove in from Memphis after spending 12 hours sightseeing. Ran in quick to use the bathroom. Happened to notice a live cockroach in the shower. It was turned on it's back and trying to flip over. I really struggle with roaches. I am genuinely fearful and grossed out! Well, I tried to kill it by turning on the shower but it flipped over and tried to crawl out so I had to kill it with my foot. Totally grossed out! Needless to say, I am not bringing in my luggage. I am too exhausted to go elsewhere, so I am sleeping clothed on top of the bed with light on. I will get up and go as soon as I get some sleep, but I am starting to doubt I will be able to sleep. What makes me the most upset is that I absolutely love Loretta Lynn, but I don't get to see the place tomorrow. I am a sweaty mess after spending 12 hours walking in Memphis in 85 degree heat. I just wanted a shower, clean clothes, and some rest. I don't feel comfortable here, especially with a dead roach in the shower and who knows where the others are hiding. There is no one here to give me another cabin. If I can't shower, I am not fit to do the tour and not fit to go in to Nashville to see the sights either. I am so grossed out!! Don't stay unless you want roaches!! Wish I could upload the video for you to see!!! So sad I am going to miss out on sites because I don't feel comfortable showering with a roach!!!!!!!! Noisy campground. Loved the live music on Friday night in the upper campground. The kids riding mini bikes and driving golf carts made the experience extremely loud. I really wished that there was an age limit on driving motorized vehicles in the campground. An accident will happen with 4 to 6 people hanging off the golf carts and riding the mini bikes. We happened to be near a group that thought they were the only ones here, loud rap music and no regard for other campers. Internet is pay only-$7 a day or $15 for 3 days. The staff were great about picking up trash several times per day. read more

We stayed two nights here recently in one of the cabins. Cozy and super cute cabins were very clean and much nicer than we anticipated. Just like a hotel room, the cabins had a mini fridge, microwave and coffee pot. Small grill outside and a decent sized deck with patio chairs and table. And air conditioning!! Sweet, sweet air conditioning! Being 6 months pregnant, this is an amenity I can't live without. I like my rooms to be freezing. Like a meat locker. The smaller cabins had two full size beds in them each (in different rooms for privacy). The only drawback was there was not any place for storage. No closets or cabinets. Two large coat hooks to hang stuff but that's it. We enjoyed fishing, hiking and relaxing. We roamed the spacious grounds a bit but didn't have much time for tours (again, fishing). All in all we had a great time! read more

We went to the shop and most let us in, when we tried to go in the main shop, a lady in the front told us we couldn't go in without a mask while she was there smoking her cigarette. When we arrived at the RV park, we were the only one there. This was on 8-18-10. We made our reservations online and was told that there was internet. After we had set up, we found out that there is no Internet or cable. With our anteena we were only able to get 2 TV stations. Sights were difficult to pull in due to trees and sharp turns, however, since we were the only one there we had our pick. A couple hours later another RV arrived. So a total of 2 in the entire park. There was no outside lightening at night time, except at the little store.. Cell phone only works in certain areas of the park. Going through Loretta Lynn's Home was nice, but would recommend you stay at the KOA a few miles away. read more

Growing up, my family listened on the car stereo to the country legends like Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash. And of course we later watched and loved the movie "Coal Miner's Daughter." So when I recently found myself on a road trip with my dad that took us just miles from Loretta Lynn's place, we just had to get off the interstate and visit. If nothing else, we can say we've seen where Loretta Lynn's lives! (not the house with the columns, but the one in back) We were pressed for time and did not take any tours, but we had a great experience in the gift shop. The sales clerk gave us her undivided attention, whipping out a book about the Lynn family and sharing little antecdotes and personal stories. She was very kind and hospitable. My dad bought a cd of Loretta's gospel songs (a change from the 8-tracks of the earlier days) and we listened all the way back to Texas! Made a great memory! read more

Our family has visited this campground 4 times within the last year and have enjoyed canoeing & swimming in the pool & clear water creek during the hot Summer weekends with our children. I definitely recommend this campground in the Summer time! However, a visit at anytime during the year to see a part of Loretta Lynn's property & history is worth the trip!
