This place is a the best. It's a very comfortable atmosphere that is always clean. They have a high standard for the patients safety and making sure you are comfortable. The best part about them is their punctuality. I have never waited past my appointment time, which I think is most people's problem with doctors offices. Dr yamanaka is awesome!!!! Its a very nice office to visit. There is always seems to be a holiday when I have an appointment. It is always decorated very nice, It has a nice homey feeling. They don't do the puff in the eye anymore I can do the eye exam without stress anymore. The Dr is great and so are the office personal. It is one of the better customer service orientated business out there. There prices are slightly higher than Costco and Target but you get what you pay for and my eyes are very important to me. Honestly, I normally hate going to the eye doctor because normally they would take half the day to see you. However, Los Alamitos Optometry had the best customer service and actually allowed me to be seen before my appointment. While driving around the area to do errands, I was called into work. However I walked into the office and the wonderful receptionist had helped me speed up the first time patient paper work and informed the Doctor that I had a time conflict and I needed to be out ASAP. Dr. Yamanaka, was very thoughtful with her examination and with all of her new equipment she was able to get my prescription the fastest I have ever seen. Also Dr. Yamanaka was able to understand my needs for this visit and was able explain everything she recommended for me. Dr. Yamanaka even caught the reason for my chronic red eyes and explained what to do in order to resolve this issue, whereas other Optometrists just told me to use eye drops. Dr Yamanaka took the time to answer all my questions, as I had plenty coming off an eye injury late last year, she did a through examination and showed me various pictures of different eye conditions and what recommendations she had for my eye care going forward. I have been a patient of Dr. Yamanaka for over 15 years. She is always very thorough and takes a personal interest in my eye health. I have a family history of serious eye issues, and for this reason Dr. Yamanaka follows any changes in my eyes very carefully. I just got off the phone with her because she just called to follow up on a new issue that just started with my eye, and that I saw her for this week. I read the other reviews and went to Dr. Yamanaka. I don't know if the other reviewers are her friends or what but I had a totally different experience. First the positives; the office is very nice and the staff is friendly. I was escorted into a room to wait for my exam. While waiting there was a video shown that talks about that eyelash lengthening formula. During my husbands wait the video was about eye vitamins. That was annoying, but I wasn't distraught over that. The doctor came in and gave a thorough exam. Normally, when I go to the eye Dr. I get one eye exam and get my glasses and contacts (I have double VSP insurance). After my exam I went out to pick out frames. That's when the trouble begins. I was told that I had just had an eye glass exam and I had to come back and pay $125 for an additional contact lens exam. I couldn't believe it. They said it's a totally different exam. During that time my son who only wears contacts was in the exam room. I asked if his exam was also just for glasses, because I wasn't going to bring him back for another exam. The technician wouldn't answer me. She kept trying to change the subject. I told her that if he needed two exams to get his contacts to go stop the exam right then. Again she changed the subject. Finally, my husband got up and just went into the exam room. He asked the Dr. about this and she said he indeed would have to come back for an additional exam just to get his contacts. We yanked him out of the room and ended the exam. I ended up refilling my glasses prescription because I had already had the exam. I went back to my old optometrist and got my contacts. This place is all about money and selling products. The technician had to initial all the extras I didn't want on my glasses to prove I had been offered the extra features. There are LOTS of good eye Dr. in the area that actually want to help and not just get your money. I will never go back and I encourage you to do the same. read more
