I am a brand new patient at Modern Eyes Optometry. I've been in search of a better eye doctor for years and relieved to have found the right person! This is a legitimate optometry. Why is that? Because unlike other places, it is owned and operated by the optometrist. The newer businesses in the eye care industry are more focused on selling frames/eye glasses (which has a higher profit margin) than the actual eye care. At Modern Optometry, you will be seen by the same optometrist. At other places, you will not get consistent eye care because the optometrists are staff and they come and go. Every year, I used to get a new eye doctor and it's a gamble. There's a 50/50 chance you'll end up with a good one or on the flip side, a horrible staff. Dr. Chen is by far, the best eye doctor I've had. She is very thorough, intelligent and great with her patients. I appreciate that I will get the same care every single year. She did tell me that she has no plans of retiring anytime soon as her practice is established but relatively newer in her career (I asked!). Dr. Chen took her time with my initial eye check, asked the right questions and also provided good patient education. The clinic has great support staff. Candace and Alyssa are kind, thorough and good at what they do. They deliver great service and are always helpful! The clinic has a decent selection of frames. You will definitely find something that'll fit your needs and budget. They have Nike's, Oakley's, Gucci, Prada, Kate Spade, MKs and lots more brands to choose from. Give this place a go! I highly recommend it. I've tried a lot of optometrists in the Cerritos/Artesia area and I can tell you that you'll be happy at Modern Eyes Optometry. P.S. they follow COVID screening protocol by checking temperatures of people entering the clinic, disinfecting stations/desks as well as the frames tried on my customers and limiting the number of people in the clinic at any given time. read more

With Covid cases still being very high, I was hesitant to go to any doctor during this time. But my prescription had expired and I needed to order more contacts. I've never been here before but came to the shopping plaza often so I decided to call them and I'm so glad I did. I've honestly never really loved any of my other optometry spots so I would switch every other year. But I have to say that I've now found my go to place! First off, I felt safe coming in as they control the flow of who is coming inside the store with appointments. Second, they temperature check everyone coming in and the staff wears masks and they also require masks from customers. Last and just as important, the staff rocks! Alyssa is always so friendly, helpful and professional. She sets the tone of the place. And Dr. Chen was very thorough, honest and professional. She suggested trying some new brands as my contacts were a little old school, but wanted me to see how they fit through trials first. There was never a hard sell to buy or purchase anything, they are just very matter-of-fact and good people. These are the types of businesses I want to support and will be forever loyal to. Decided to come here because it was super close to my house (like a mile away). What do you know, it's run by the greatest people you'd ever meet. Each staff is very professional, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, patient, caring... the list goes on. Dr. Chen is awesome! Calm and professional, really respectful, a doctor of high quality. Took her time to answer any questions and concerns and tailored to my needs. The staff spent extra time helping me choose the frames of my choice (went thru trays of frames) and also was patiently by my side cheering me on until I finally succeeded in putting on contacts for the first time (no joke guys...seriously took me a long time, thank you guys! :)) They take VSP. Email/text confirmations. Quick followups. Large variety of mostly Ray Ban and Toms frames, but they were the most recent ones, which is a plus in this modern world we live in. This review is way overdue! A few months ago, a tiny bead from my facial cleanser got into my eye. I could not get it out, despite everything I've tried. It was late, but I took a chance by calling Dr. Chen's office and was told the doctor was about to go home. A few minutes after I made an appointment for the next day and hung up, I received a call back asking me to go to the clinic right away. I instantly felt much better after Dr. Chen removed the foreign object from my eye! Dr. Jill Chen is awesome. Our family of 5 all go here and grandma too. I got some really comfy Prada bi-focal glasses a year ago that I really love. You can't even tell are bi-focal.
