After 5 years, I'm updating my review with more details - but the 5 stars stays the same! This is such a delicious, filling spot with the friendliest service. Each time we come, we're greeted in such a friendly manner. I love the decor and vibrant colors in here - it really transports you to an authentic Mexican experience. Service is so speedy - you will not be waiting on them! The staff are absolute hustlers that really care about doing their job. Coming from Minneapolis, having chips and salsa for the table is a welcome joy - and they have some of the best dang chips I've ever had! ALWAYS order queso for the table. Theirs is delish. I love their street tacos and enjoy their combos too. My partner loved their quesadilla, and especially enjoyed the ham and bean soup they give on the side. Amazing! Staff friendly and service is always great! Food tastes like homemade Jalisco, Mexican food! Just like my Mother's cooking! I feel like I am home! So delicious and filling that we stop there twice a year from Nebraska on our way to our daughter's house in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The restaurant is decorated with beautiful artwork hand paintings of local historic buildings in Stuart, Iowa. In the back room is an awesome big bar AND very Beautiful professional hand painted walls depicting the movie"CoCo"! That can be used for large groups or families too. Prices are reasonable too. It's always a MUST STOP place to eat when passing east. DON'T MISS IT!!! They speak English too! read more

Eat here! When you're in rural Iowa, the section of restaurants can be sparse. We stumbled on Los Altos and we're completely happy. I had a fajita burrito and my wife had the Mexican chicken salad and it all tasted healthy, fresh and delicious. As Californians, our standards are high, and this place exceeded them. read more

Four of us chose Los Altos for dinner. The food was good and warm on arrival. The pregame chips and salsa were perfect. Salsa had heat, but not overbearing. Ordered the queso to go with it. Warm and creamy like it's supposed to be. 2 house margs, 1 strawberry marg and 1 jalapeño marg suited us besides water. No one complained, in fact Saif they were pretty tasty and good sized. We ordered the chimichanga, grilled chicken quesadilla, and the burrito bandera with a tamale Ala carte. Due to a slight language barrier, the quesadilla came out incorrect but was fixed promptly. Let me tell you, the tamale is not your typical tamale. I ordered pork and the meat is not on the inside which I thought was odd, but it was oh so delicious. You can order any of their meats with the tamale, so they just top the masa with the meat and sauce and serve. I always try the tamale at every Mexican joint and this was definitely memorable and tasty!! Overall great meal, typical decor, affordable prices. Wow. A displaced traveling Texan found a jewel of a Mexican food joint here. Enchiladas verdes were superb. Moist and flavorful shredded chicken. Excellent tomatillo sauce. Great refried beans. Fast and friendly service. The only thing that I didn't care for was the salsa. Oregano does not belong in salsa. read more

Ah Panora.... So tiny and cute, but with an amazing Mexican restaurant! When I make the long trek to Panora, I ALWAYS make a stop at Los Altos. The food is fantastic - always hot, always flavorful and always served by friendly and courteous staff. Speaking of the staff, there is always a familiar face ready serve me. It's so nice to see the same faces every time I visit! The place is always clean and because it's typically very busy, plates are cleared quickly so that any waiting patrons can be seated right away. Los Altos even offers take out so your food is ready to go the moment you walk through their door. There is one extra item that brings me to my 5 star review - Los Altos employs a special needs individual. He has been there for quite a while now and boy does he work hard! He clears tables and is always friendly to the customers. The owner of the restaurant and the staff that he leads are always kind and patient with this young man. He is part of the team and it brings me so much joy to see him thriving under the leadership of Los Altos. So, go order the flautas and guac, admire the clean store, make friends with the staff and be sure to come back again soon! read more

This place has very good food for cheap and great customer service. There margaritas are very good and the tacos are great.

Really great food! My only complaint is they sometimes forget an item or two in our to-go orders. We also end up waiting longer than the expected pickup time about 50% of the time. read more

Such a great place. Prices are more than reasonable, it's very clean, the staff works hard and are very friendly. And the food is the best Mexican I have had for a long time. I think we get something different each time we go and never have been disappointed. Great place for kids, too. read more
