Met friend at Los Amigos for my birthday. Lobby looks real nice and very Mexican style lobby. I ordered burrito Colorado. It was ok cuz too much chili powder on chicken and no flavor and needs better flavor. Inside burrito is just white rice instead of Spanish rice. It's ok to fill up stomach but no flavor. The parking lot is covered in litter and cigarette butts abandoned cars behind the building with bags of human trash in them just discarded banners that are all worn out still hanging from the facade Landscaping nice LED sign covered in Weeds Patty corner from a truck stop the place should be packed there's only about five people here along with a local girls volleyball team the food is below average tables covered in dirty dishes well three of the waiters are behind the counter on their cell phones laughing at each other I spend $25,000 a year eating out I do not recommend this place the food scale of 1 to 10 is a four at best one bright spot in my review there's a young waitress named Mary local high school girl I'm guessing Pleasant attentive a worker you can just tell I recommend Mary to any restaurant that needs a good employee I'm not from this town I'm from 100 miles away but they won't be open long read more

Place has a good atmosphere and happy waitstaff that likes to celebrate birthdays with noisemakers and festive way of singing Happy Birthday. Chips and Salsa is above average in that they serve the Salsa in a little carafe which is nice so one doesn't keep running out and waiting to ask for more. The quality of the chips and salsa are not great but not the worse either. I got the Cheese Ribeye Fajitas $19.98 which was good as far as meat quality and portion size, but very salty, so if you have hypertension and stay away from sodium, make sure you tell them easy or no salt! I also got a Jumbo Mango-Lime Tajin Margarita $10.99 which tasted great but got absolutely NO buzz from it, which was the first Jumbo size I ever had that never gave any buzz at all, so they obviously use maybe one shot instead of two or one instead of three. I just know that the vast majority of them should have you feeling no pain to say the least and these are pretty weak for the money - although they do taste good! I should have ordered a beer, in which case they have a big selection bottle and draught. If you stay next door at the BW SureStay you get 10% off but they ding you a card fee of 3.75% which only came to $1.02 on my bill of $31.00. One word to sum it up- Garbage. I went here as I was finished driving for the day. Ordered a grande margarita (that probably only had half a shot of tequila in it) after struggling to get information from my waitress who could barely speak English. I then ordered the birrira tacos and that turned out to be very under seasoned (including the consume for it).. Not to mention she could not understand what I was saying so ordered everything was a bit of a struggle.. I couldn't even find out if they made their salsas in house. if I ever stop in this area again I will 100% not go here as it is a mediocre attempt at Mexican food. read more

Better than most American/Mexican restaurant. This is a large restaurant and very popular. You don't have many choices in Greenville but this place is pretty good. I had carne asada and it was very good and plentiful. My wife had a veggie quesadilla that she said was delicious. The service is a little sketchy. The atmosphere is very nice. read more

Traveling back from Arizona, tried new hotel. Asked where we could get a drink with dinner and Los Amigos was suggested. Had a pina colada and Gordon's Burrito. The Pina Xolada was one of the best I've had in years!! The Gordo Burriro was amazing ( I had it with steak) steak was tender, the beans good and the rice was perfect, not dry like many places. Amazing! This isn't the best Mexican restaurant in Greenville, it's the best Mexican restaurant in the St Louis Metro area. I've eaten here many times over the last two and a half years and everything is great. Service is superb, menu is large and varied and the prices are reasonable. read more

We had dinner on Taco Tuesday. Several of us had tacos...pork, chicken, steak, and beef. Others had Pollo Ranchero, Grilled Shrimp, and Chicken Nachos. Everyone loved their meal. The salsa provided with the steak tacos was excellent. They were accommodating by providing extra cilantro on request. The service was quick and friendly. It has a nice atmosphere with a bar and several TVs to watch sports. We recommend Los Amigos! read more

This decent Mexican restaurant is just a short walk across the road from the Loves truck stop, and I have came over here a half dozen times over the last few years. I always seem to get the same thing. The create your own combo that I order as taco, burrito, and chili relleno. It's always above average, but tonight was even better. Cook must be on his game tonight. The chips are pretty good, but the salsa isn't so great. Beans and rice ate better than most places. Iced tea is very good. Service is always very good, and the place is always clean. Would definitely recommend this place. read more

First we had to walk past dirty tables to find a clean one. This is inexcusable in an empty restaurant. If they cannot be bothering to clean the tables, what do you think the kitchen looks like? Not 100% horrible as nothing seemed rotten but the best thing I can say is that I didn't get food poisoning. I have had way way better. At Taco Bell I've had WAY better. Hubs said his margarita was not very good as well which is always a bad sign. Fast service but totally flavorless food. Taco Bell across the street could give their "chef" lessons on using spices other than grease puddle my "Steak Mexicano" was swimming in. The waitress said it was marinated but if it was then it needs lots more time since it was neither flavorful NOR tender. It was tiny cubes of some tough, chewy, tasteless commercial grade of beef? fried in a large amount of grease with diced green bell peppers and onions coupled with chunks of way underripe tomato that was barely pink and tasted like cardboard. It was a colossal pain in the ass just to get a bite of food on the fork since it was so finely diced. I even had to add salt which I never do--especially considering how much I complain about over-salted food. The refried beans were soupy and flavorless without any discernible seasoning. The rice was the best thing on the plate and it was WAY below the standards being set by the Taco Bell across the street. Taco Bell is head and shoulders over this place as far as flavor and quality go, even as mediocre as Taco Bell food usually is. I was shocked that they have a sister restaurant in Vandalia since this one was SO Godawful MEDIOCRE. I wouldn't bother to come back. It was a bland and entirely forgettable meal. Want GOOD Mexican? Go somewhere else. ANYWHERE ELSE!! These people have no concept of seasoning or food prep of Mexican food. Old El Paso from a can is head and shoulders over the slop here. Even the "salsa" was awful--it tasted like cheap tomato sauce and a bit of cilantro. Spicy Ketchup is fine cuisine compared to this "salsa". One of the most memorably TERRIBLE meals I've had in years. I can't believe this is their second store, even in very rural Illinois people can't possibly think this is Mexican cuisine. read more

My husband and I were on a trip driving through Greenville and based on the reviews decided to stop here and have some Mexican food. Let's start with the service we sat there for a minute they passed by 3 to 4 times never stopped to get our order but finally did our drinks never come out we actually wanted to order some guacamole but the server never come back to our table then poof our food arrived the lady that brought the food out we actually had to ask her to go get our drinks and never saw our server again. So I'd give zero stars on Service and 2 1/2 stars on the food. I do know that if we ever drive back through this way that we would not stop there to have Mexican food I hope this review was helpful. read more

I decided to try Los Amigos while in the area on a business trip based on the recommendation by one of the hotel employees. I undoubtedly had a better dining experience than the previous reviewer as although it certainly wouldn't rate in my top 10 favorite Mexican restaurants I was actually pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was clean and they seemed to have a wide menu selection. I opted to the Pollo Feliz and I must say the shrimp were prepared perfectly and were very well seasoned. The chicken lacked the bold punch of flavored that I become accustomed to in my favorite Mexican dining establishments however I'm glad I asked for their hot salsa as it certainly helped awaken the flavor. Most of the employees that I interacted with we're very friendly, especially the female whom I assume is the manager on duty as I saw her checking on multiple tables to ensure they were enjoying their meal. All in all it was a good meal at a very reasonable price and considering the limited options for Mexican restaurants in the area I wouldn't hesitate going back in the future. read more

FYI, I live in Arizona, so I know a thing or two about Mexican restaurants. Anytime I come to Greenville, this is one of my favorite stops. The staff is always friendly and fast, the food is invariably well prepared, and reasonable, and the margaritas don't hurt, either. :-) In short, this is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere, with the whole meal usually coming in at about the same price that an appetizer would be back home. read more

This place was horrendous. For some reason, there were a bunch of cheap decorations all over the place for apparently no reason, which kind of lowered the place's atmosphere. What also did that was the music. I understand that restaurants that feature foreign cuisine usually play music from their country, but it was just obnoxious (the only plus that I can give them is that they didn't play Despacito). The music featured a high-pitched man yelling for three minutes, with only minor background instruments. The food, however, was probably the worst thing. I don't know if my fellow reviewers went to the place when their was effort put into the food l, but I certainly didn't visit this restaurant at those times. I ordered the three tamales, but they were the size of my index fingers. The tamale sauce was also bad. It wasn't even remotely spicy, and for some reason it tasted like there was balsamic vinegar in their.
