Stopped in for dinner - food was good! We sat inside, but they have this great outdoor, covered seating area. They have multiple big screen TV's, so a great place to catch a sporting event. Our server was very friendly and our food came out fast! Might be our new go to for Mexican!! read more

First time trying this new restaurant and I was excited because the patio looks great for the summer. I found the food to just be okay. I got tacos and it said it was coming with limes and toppings but was just the meat and cheese. The drinks were amazing! I will for sure be back for the drinks alone. I went here with my coworkers after work. I do like that there's a heater above when we were in the patio. The place is aesthetically pleasing. I didn't like that the food is too salty and the shrimp is frozen...not enough portion compared to the steak and chicken. It was too expensive for a mid meal. Lastly, the service is terrible. There is nobody checking in on us and when there is, they're are on their break lol. Chips weren't refilled as I hoped it would be, the servers take too long and drinks were incorrectly served. I'd say if you like to be checked on, then I suggest not going to the patio if you prefer to be left alone. read more

We went on Saturday evening. Restraunt was super busy, especially since they haven't been open long! Wait wasn't awful, however parking isn't the greatest. There is a small lot behind the building, as well as street parking. Murals inside are gorgeous as is the seating. Patio is amazing as well. They have tables as well as firepit tables with lounge type seating. Highly recommend trying their Margarita Flight. Was a great way to try different flavors! Service was a little slow, but we are chalking that up to being new and super busy! Food came out Luke warm. That being said it was still delicious! We are Chorizo fans, and it was a little on the spicier side. We for sure want to try it again when not so busy. read more

We grabbed dinner here on a Friday night. It was very busy, but we were seated in a booth pretty quickly. There were a couple of large groups nearby-tables of around 16 people each--so it was definitely loud. That said, the interior is nicely decorated and has a good vibe. Our waitress brought out chips and salsa right away and took our order quickly. The menu has plenty of choices-pretty much all the classic Mexican dishes you'd expect. I had a chimichanga and a taco, and my wife had an enchilada. We both had margarita's and they were good. Everything was tasty and hit the spot. We will be back. read more

This restaurant is new to Troy. We have eaten there several times now! Whether the food has been eaten there or ordered to-go, it doesn't disappoint. The service has always been quick and friendly, and you are seated fast. Even if there's a wait, they're turning the tables efficiently. The food has been excellent. The fajita portion is huge. Very nice upscale Mexican restaurant for a small town, with a great location on Main Street but makes interesting for parking when it's a packed house. Even though busy, got seated quickly and service with free chips/salsa right away! Food was good, and hot. Margaritas were okay, a lil' too much of the mix taste for me. Palenque recently opened in downtown Troy, which has seen a resurgence in recent years. Palenque is an excellent addition! It has beautiful paintings on the walls and an awesome patio that can be used all year with heaters. I have been a few times and they even accommodated our girls' group of 11 on the patio on a very busy night with excellent service. Their salsa is top notch- thank God because I judge Mexican restaurants on their salsa and I would have been devastated if the Mexican restaurant closest to me wouldn't have had excellent salsa. Their chips are also light and crispy. The margaritas are good and go up to a comically big size. We had some fun with their jumbo margs! I have had the queso fundido, which is amazing, the ground beef chimichanga (also great), and the chicken chimichanga which was awesome. Their rice and beans are also very good. The Carne En Su Jugo (beef soup) is full of flavor and veggies/avocado and everyone who ordered food really enjoyed their meals. This will be a staple for us for sure! read more

First time to this new place. The inside is very nice. Very well decorated. The service was friendly and good. They all helped each other maintain tables. The food was tasty. All 8 of us enjoyed our meals. The quesa Birra was good but had a bit of a cinnamon aftertaste that O didn't expect. The El Jalesco was very tasty. Everyone at the table thought it looked yummy! This was perhaps the worst Mexican food we've had in a long time. The ground beef in tacos and burritos was absolutely flavorless. Tasted like ground beef right out of the skillet. The salsa was generic, and the red sauce on the burrito tasted exactly like cheap jarred spaghetti sauce. Loud atmosphere, and the place wasn't close to being full. Extremely disappointed to the point where we won't give it a second try. Nothing at all special about Palenque. If they want to last, they better step up their game. read more

Tried Palenque for lunch on a rainy valentine's day . First visit. Place was very new looking, classy booths, very clean, great service. Cool large murals painted on the wall. We went here on New Years Eve and sat in the closed in 'outdoor space.' They had heaters and cafe lights, TVs and an outside bar. It was a beautiful space. The food came out hot and sizzling after a reasonable wait. The margaritas sadly were weak and lacked taste and our waitress while friendly did not have great English skills but other than that it was a good experience. I would go back. Especially if the margs improve. Maybe a better brand of tequila. We both had a headache the next day. read more

We were looking for Yelp recommendations for a dinner date and Palenque came up. Troy is close and we love Mexican food, so off we go. The restaurant has been open for a month. I loved the murals and the restaurant design! The menus is bright and full of great food options. The staff was helpful in getting me in the door and seated. I am on a knee scooter. Chips and salsa were quick as well as the margaritas! Yea! I had the shrimp chimichangas and my husband had the steak carnitas. Both were flavor filled and had generous portions. One server asked if we had eaten at Tres Caminos in Caseyville. He said they are the same company. It is also a favorite, but Palenque is bigger and has a side Margarita Bar! Excellent job of decorating the place, I like the closed in heated patio, the place looks great. I think this is the same people that operate Tres Caminos, so I knew the food would be decent. The service was surprisingly great (I love Mexican food, but Mexican food service is not always the best and I never expect it to be.). The food was extremely Tex-Mex or American-Mexican. I get it we are in Troy and they are serving an experience for white-bread middle America, but its not my kind of cuisine I have never personally met anyone of Mexican descent who has made chimichangas or burritos at home, maybe its an industry thing? If you like US-Tex-Mex and that IS Mexican food to you then ignore this review and enjoy this place you will like it. I go here for the drinks, I can walk to this place from my residence, and I can sort of walk back home. I love Margheritas. The margheritas here pre-made fountain drinks for the most part, but there are many flavors, and fun ways to get them. They are not too pricey and you can get a huge one. I'd prefer one that was made to order, but as walkable place with decently priced pre-made ones, I have been to this place quite a few time already, and I will return in the future. My 3 stars is not saying this place is just ok, I am glad it is here, and I will continue to go there, just not for food. read more

We went during the first week, and although the restaurant was packed, and it was prime dinner time, we had excellent service and delicious food. The wait was approximately 20 minutes, but again, this was prime dinner time during opening week. We had fajitas; shrimp and steak. Everytime came out hot and timely.
