Heard from family this was the best Mexican in town and they were right, decided to go about 4:45, figured less people. Wrong, parking lot was almost full. Definitely a lot of folks inside but got seated immediately, server was very friendly & started by taking my drink order, back within moments and took food order for shredded chicken chimichanga dinner, delivered in about 5 minutes - outstanding huge plate of tasty food & reasonably priced. The dinner for 2 was too enticing to pass up as it was the best way to try new things without a La carte. $16 for the entire photo. Solid flavor (low on salt which I prefer as I can always add at table). Leaned all beef feeling other than the tamale for a platter that large but otherwise I'd order it again in a heartbeat. I expect that much from the salsa around this part of the country because it has to suit everyone's palate, but there should be some flavor in the other foods. The cheese sauce was delicious but seafood was not really very good . Lacked flavor and was dry. Hubby had chicken fajitas he said they were just ok . We made a reservation for 12 on a Saturday night at 6pm. Our table was set and ready to go. Ordered a round of drinks (Pitchers of Frozen Margaritas, cocktails and beer) and then dinner. The table servers were quick with chips, salsa, queso and refills as needed. Dinner came out quickly, hot and plentiful. We dined on Mexicali, fajitas, burritos, pineapple bowls, tacos and ended with fried ice cream. Slight mix-up with one entree but they were quick to correct it. Absolutely LOVE Los Amigos! I have yet to get anything that wasn't good from them, and we have ordered quite a bit. The only time was our own fault, as we took the food home rather than having it there, and the tacos we ordered got soggy. But again, that wasn't their fault in the slightest. The staff are wonderful, and attentive to your needs. The coffee however will grow hair on your chest, so be warned. lol But so good! I do not drink alcohol, so I cannot offer up anything about their drinks but the tea, and pop/soda are fine. lol I highly recommend Los Amigos! We got take-out: Chile rellenos, enchiladas verde with chicken, fajita bowl with chicken. Also tried the seasonal special, street corn, which was great fresh sweet corn indulgently smothered in mayo and seasonings - not my favorite but that didn't slow me down from polishing it off. As I waited for my order I noticed how attentive and hard working the staff was as well as plenty of staff, nobody was wanting for anything. My go-to is typically a burrito of some sort. Today I ordered the Special La Casa which is your choice of a simple beef or chicken burrito with rice and beans topped with the liquid gold (queso cheese). The lunch option gets you one burrito for $8.99 and the dinner option gets you two burritos for $9.99. I find that one burrito with the rice and beans is the perfect portion. This restaurant is packed nightly, especially on the weekends. The original floor area has been expanded to include a large room with a second bar as well as doors which open onto a large porch area. There are various liquor drinks available, which is a plus. My family loves the menu items too. Tacos, salads, salsa, and various Mexican specialities are available. My favorite is chicken with nachos and a cheese sauce. We're having a birthday dinner for a dozen family members there later this week. We bring our special birthday cake and management gives us plates and utensils, no problem. read more

This is my daughters favorite Mexican restaurant and one of my places to go when I'm in new castle. The Manager is awesome and staff work together to consistently refill drinks and bring out fresh chips and salsa. I like the chori pollo here. Food usually comes out in less than 10 min. As probably one of the only Mexicans in the area, I feel an obligation to give a genuine review of Los Amigos. First, I will say that the family and staff are wonderful, very friendly, kind people. I suppose the most important thing to say is that the food was delicious! Real authentic Mexican cuisine, the rice reminded me of my grandmothers, the guacamole was actually guacamole, and the chips and salsa tasted fresh and home made. The menu had a wide variety. I had the fajitas and it came out still cooking on the skillet. I split this with my partner, we were both full and even had leftovers. Great dinner! I have to take away 1 star because the only down side to this is experience was that the margaritas were unfortunately truly AWFUL. It was essentially a green lemon lime slushy with liquor in it, if that's what your into, then you may like it. But it was very cheap, syrupy, artificial tasting. I wasn't able to finish mine (and I love margaritas) If they improved their margaritas this would be the best Mexican place in the area. Please get a new recipe! read more
