Fort Drum, THIS is the place to choose for Watertown Residents and for fast take-out. They even deliver on post. The restaurant is clean, and the staff is very friendly. Food Portions are generous. The Nachos are more TEX/MEX, and the tacos are more like street tacos. Some favorites of ours are the Carne Asada plate, the vegetarian tacos and the Chicken Enchiladas. The staff were attentive and friendly and they let us sample some drinks (one was horchata and the other was made with hibiscus; both were pretty refreshing) and some posole (I can't tell you how EXCITED I was to try it and it did not disappoint -- the pork was SO tender.) My mom bought some chips and pico and both were fresh, made-to-order and highly satisfying. This was the first Restaurants we had after moving here, and I must say it did not disappoint. Overall, the food and service is delicious, but there were a few things I did not care for. My family and I have always received big portions for a great price. However, they are a little heavy-handed with the refried beans. The rice is hit or miss. Some times it's perfect, other times it's salty. I dislike the bowls because you can't really customize them much. Being from down south, I am pretty selective about Mexican food in the north region and this place blew the rest of the competition out of here (Tico's and Camino Real). The only downside about this place is that it is on the tiny side for seating but that's really not their fault because the location of it so for that they get an A+ for working with the space they have. Came up to Watertown ( Evan Mills) to see my daughter at Ft. Drum who is in the Army. We wanted to go sit and have a meal and catch up since we haven't seen her in a while and we all decided Mexican food we be perfect. This could literally one of the worst food experiences we have ever had. The hostess was a sweetheart but from there it went into a death spiral. Ordered a veggie burrito - tacos de pollo - and beef fajitas. 1. Veggie burrito - 4 in. around . all canned beans no cheese . frozen guacamole ... rice.... and I don't use this word often... but gross. I still have a nasty taste in my mouth . 2. Chicken tacos - though the chicken wasn't that bad, they wrapped the store bought "cheap" tortillas hot in parchment. Everyone knows what happened after that. Store bought cheap tortillas fall into to a bunch of layers and get nasty soggy. just in-eatable. 3. And the joke of it all. FAJITAS - pretty much raw onions and bell pepper ( they were not cooked and cold - maybe warmed through) thrown on the plate with a cut of meat that I passed around the table and no one could get a bite off. Bean were straight out of a can and not even doctored a bit, just a gloppy mess. Rice , if you can call it that was painfully inadequate, Embarrassing. The fact that a " cook" chef" would serve this and charge the money they did ( $12.95 for a small plate of fajitas) The only reason I write this review in such harshness is it was intentional and the chef/owner just doesn't give a shit. I imagined him saying " screw-m, they don't know any better." just serve it. Mexican food is passionate and compassionate and It's made with love. Not here. I ordered the Carne Asada tacos and after adding salsa verde, lime juice and salt it was good. The Horchata wasn't the best I've ever had but it was still pretty good. They're definitely not stingy with their portions which is a huge plus. The decor was nice and the staff was very friendly. I'll definitely be back again! read more

What started off as a hopeful and hunger-filled experience quickly turned into a nightmare. I ordered the grilled steak burrito which didn't take very long to prepare and now I know why. Only a few bites into my burrito I discovered something that just didn't look right. What I thought may have been an insect actually turned out to be a screw. Yes that's right, I pulled a very dirty, disgusting screw from the burrito. I was horrified. This restaurant doesn't look at all like something like this would ever happen here. I guess there's a first time for everything right? Well for unfortunately, this will be the last time that I dine at this restaurant. Had I taken one more bite and swallowed the screw, there's no telling what kind of damage could have been inflicted on me. For a Mexican restaurant in upstate New York- this ones pretty good! They do the best they can with what they can get their hands on up here- and if you're craving Mexican, it'll do the job. As far as service goes- it's exceptional. The workers are incredibly friendly and the food comes out super quick, and it's cheap. The single only thing I can say is they would benefit from making their own guacamole - it seems premade, more of like an avocado spread- and a soda fountain or machine, buying drinks by the can is pretty inconvenient. I grew up in SoCal and I am very picky about Mexican food. This place definitely hit the spot and will be returning often. This place was just kind of meh. In my hometown there is a really great authentic Mexican restaurant so maybe I'm biased, but this food didn't really floor me or even impress me that much. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything that I would order again or tell my friends about. Just a little background... ever since i have met my wife(who is mexican) she has taken me to mexican resturaunts in hawaii and in california. Just so no ok ne thibks i havnt tried real mexicab food before.... I have had Los amigos twice now. The first time I had it i ordered an entree that xame with three enchiladas. I ordered them all steak or chicken and thought the filling was very good. But I wasn't impressed with their sauces for them. I got one green chili, red chill, and cheese sauce. In my opinion none of the sauces had any heat to them and very little flavor. The cheese sauce was the best out of the three but it tasted very granular almost as if it were made from powder. The meal also came with rice, refried beans, and chips and salsa. None of which were very good, the house made chips were on point but the salsa mainly tasted like tomato sauce and neither the rice or beans had any flavor. The second time I order something from their we ordered deliver from the beyond menu app. I ordered floutas which tasted terrible. I got the mix plate which came with two potato and two chicken floutas. The only complaint about the potato floutas was that the potato wasn't fully cooked, as for the chicken floutas the flavor of the chicken was way way over flavored to the point of it tasting disgusting. Once again the rice and refried beans had no flavor. personally I believe there is probably something that tastes really good, but I probably won't be going back to keep testing their items till I find the right on. read more

You can tell and the presentation wasn't so bad at all. The prices are definitely reasonable. I grew up on Mexican food and I know how prices work. So it's not even outrageous. Coming from Los Angeles, where there is a mexican restaurant at every other corner, this place is pretty good, not much a fan of their tacos or burritos but their Tortas are really good, their horchata is a bit too sweet, might be an instant powder mix. Whatever it was it wasn't real chicken. Just go to taco bell down the street. I've had Mexican food all over the country and this was the absolute worst. Cant be a Hispanic chef.
