Kind of disappointed. I've been going for years, and slowly things have gotten worse. Went in for dinner on Tuesday, right around 6:00. I honestly didn't know if they were open at first because there was no one there. Went inside and was seated. There was one other table of people eating and no one else in the dining area. Also another table completely covered and not bussed. We waited for 15 minutes after being seated before anyone even came to the table to ask about drinks. We have been visiting the Tico's restaurant in CHAUMONT. The owners own this restaurant as well and offer up in Italian cuisine as well. My friend ordered the chicken Parm and I ordered a seafood pasta dish. Wanted to try the Italian side since we know they're Mexican. Food is five star. We were not disappointed great flavors good food. The spaghetti was done properly and the sauce was not too sweet. Plenty of shrimp and scallops. I would recommend this place and most likely will visit them again. I will say, though that the Mexican Tico's in CHAUMONT is still my favorite. The shrimp tequila is to die for. Placed a pickup order. Only two items that were ridiculously overpriced for what they were. My husband picked up the order while I was on the phone, and the worker he spoke with was extremely verbally abusive to him, ignorant, and rude. He was confused about our order and then blamed my husband for the mistake. Only after several minutes did he realize he was wrong and get our order. The following week I decided to make my own tacos birria at home in the instant pot. They were 4x as good and the ingredients cost me 1/3 of the price. But by all means if you want to be overcharged for mediocre food and treated poorly, then order here. read more

He asked the owner if he had any munch specials and he completely went bizerk. He proceeded with, "I don't know why people keep asking for the lunch special, we don't do that." One thing for sure when you leave this place is that you will be stuffed full of good food! My husband and I relocated here from Texas. My husband is from a Mexican heritage and grew up around authentic Mexican food. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the music adds to the ambiance. Our food portions were generous and our entrees were served warm and fast. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. She recommended a great chocolate cake to top off our Dinner with. Seems like an odd concept, Mexican and Italian in the same restaurant, but somehow it works! I've never been disappointed when eating here!

This is usually one of my favorite stops,but Saturday evening was a different experience. It was a warm day so I decided to forgo my usual entree and ordered the taco salad. Huge mistake, and major disapointment. The taco bowl was beautiful, but it all stopped there. The bowl was about half full of ingredients, most of it being diced wilted lettuce. I'd ordered shredded beef for the meat, and there may have been a tablespoon full of meat but not much more. Several little pieces of diced tomato,and a dollop each of soft cheese and guacamole. With the price being 12+ dollars,I left feeling really ripped off. My wife's Italian entree looked good, and we will no doubt go back again,but I'll sure as heck pass on the taco salad. read more

We have only ever eaten in the Mexican section which has some pretty good food. The owner is nice too and the complimentary chips are a traditional touch. The only problem we have here is that their waitress is always sick. She coughs all over the place and we've watched her holding plates while coughing over her shoulder. It is worrisome especially when we hear her coughing in the kitchen, I'm sure she's added her own seasonings to our meals. Usually after we eat at Tico's, one of us falls ill with a cold which is why we have not come here in a while. Maybe they should consider hiring more staff so the poor woman can take a day and rejuvenate her health. read more

Wasted over 1 1/2 hours for our food, waitress said they had lots of orders ahead of ours, we dined In, 1 of 3 other tables. Dine in should have priority over takeout. The food was microwaved, guacamole was watered down and tasted tangy, the shrimp tacos were not what you would expect for the prices they charge, 3 shrimp, barley anything else, the enchiladas were rubber and we didn't get any of the add-ons we ordered, but We were charged for them. Okay, I admit we haven't eaten here until now because I was skeptical that one place could do justice to Italian and Mexican food. The owner explained to us how they bought all of Primo's recipes when they bought the building. The free chips and salsa set things off on a good start. We love bruschetta so we ordered Tico's. A good tip is to order it without the cheese topping. It was fantastic. I ordered the shrimp fajitas. They came out on a sizzle platter hot and delicious. My wife ordered the chicken parmesan and it too was tasty. Just when we thought we were stuffed, we gave into the temptation of a freshly baked cannoli cheesecake. Oooh, yeah. If you're coming to Tico's, remember that the food is prepared fresh and can take little time. read more

So, as I'm reading through these reviews, I felt the need to seriously back this place up. I think the ppl who are giving this place negative reviews have never had real Authentic Mexican food. Being from Texas and having in laws that live across the border and actually going to to Mexico to eat, I feel that I can say that I know what real Mexican food is. This place is legit. Pricey, but you get what you pay for people. It's a sit down restaurant so if you expect to get your food super fast and you want to eat shit then don't go here. Missing Mexican food from ACTUAL Mexico, I think I can say that I found my go to place!!! The family who owns it is super friendly as well! Had a 30 minute conversation with him. I am not Mexican but I am Hispanic and I know Hispanic food. And this reminded me of home. Almost wanted to cry, please check this place out. You will not be disappointed. We've been living in the area for almost a year, but we have not tried Tico's (even though we are AVID Mexican food fans). From the outside, the place looks like a dive, which shouldn't have dissuaded me, because I know that "dives" tend to be the best restaurants. When we first moved here, someone told me this place was disgusting. So, I never gave it chance. Plus, there were only 2 reviews here on Yelp. I always worry about places with so few reviews. Recently, though, someone told my husband that the place was good. So we decided to give it a try. Boy, am I glad we did! This is the ONLY Mexican food restaurant in the area. It tastes like many of the family owned restaurants I love back in my hometown in New Mexico. The food was tasty. The service was good. I'm glad we went. I had the carnitas. They were very good--typical carnitas, with a nice hot chile sauce. But my husband had a combo plate with smothered tamales. YUM. I will definitely get the tamales next time. read more
