They had a kayak that could hold 2 adults and a kid in the middle, along with life jackets. We filled out the waiver online, so it was pretty quick to go out once we got there. We parked a little farther up at the paid spots. We launched from Fisherman's Cove. Before this, we had only been kayaking in calm waters in Newport Back Bay. The open waters is a totally different beast. Not gonna lie - I was a little nervous during launch because the waters were definitely rougher than the bay, and I can't swim. But I always felt safe. We went out to a few kelp beds and just chilled there for a bit, chatting with each other, learning about the area and each other. Living in Orange County, I was surprised at how much I didn't know about Laguna Beach and I learned a lot just chatting out in the water. The effect was surprisingly calming as the waves moved underneath us. The kelp beds definitely help break the waves a bit. Although we did pick up some kelp while paddling, it wasn't too bad. There were a few waves that were a little bigger, and our poor kid started to get a bit seasick about halfway through the tour. The way back was pretty straight forward, and we landed right where we launched. Everything was done with such ease - we all really enjoyed it! Even our kid was talking about it once we landed. We were able to wear basic beach footwear on the kayak, but were encouraged to leave everything in the car since there could be a tipping event - luckily we didn't experience one! But they took some photos for us and texted them over. While we didn't see any marine mammals, we did see several types of birds. The experience of being out in the kelp beds alone was pretty cool - I can imagine how magical it is to see some dolphin or a whale out in the water!

I had some questions about booking time and our service dog and he personally called me, recommended the perfect start time and said he would love our dog to join us, he gets hospitality and customer service. We arrived at the starting point and were greeted by our host, Jeffrey. He is one of the nicest guys you can ever meet. He loaded us all in the luxury Mercedes van, stocked with waters/treats, and off we went. The tour is 5 hours, with a lunch stop at the famous Farmers Market. Time flies though! You'll go through the Hills for breathtaking views, visit Hollywood sign, get the tourist Hollywood experience (Chinese Theatre/Dolby Theatre/Walk of Fame), see movie studios, celebrity past/present homes, Rodeo Drive, and much more. The entire tour our guide, Jeff told us facts and stories about the different areas we visited. His knowledge and stories were worth the price of admission. This was the ultimate LA in a day tour. We chose the 1 PM time slot, which is a 2-hour scheduled ride that includes two stops--one in Fillmore and another at Prancer's Farm on the way back. The ride was full with 16 guests, and the guides did a great job leading from both the front and back, making sure everyone felt comfortable and safe. Check-in was quick and easy, and they even provided complimentary popcorn and water, which was a nice touch before getting started. The ride itself was an absolute blast and definitely a solid workout--very similar to cycling, covering just under 10 miles round trip. The carts are super easy to use, with clear instructions from the guides. Each cart comes equipped with a front storage rack, cup holders, a hand brake (which you'll appreciate on the downhill!), an odometer, and a switch to toggle between manual and automatic. The assist mode really comes in handy on the uphill stretch heading toward Fillmore, while the ride back is a smooth and enjoyable downhill cruise. The weather couldn't have been better, and the scenery was incredible. Along the way, we took in beautiful views of avocado and lemon groves, cactus fields, and plenty of wildlife--squirrels, lizards, and even bees hard at work pollinating. It made the whole experience feel peaceful and immersive. On the way back, we stopped for about 20-30 minutes at Prancer's Farm, where we got to see a variety of animals including goats, pigs, bulls, and sheep. There's also a petting zoo option if you purchase tickets. The farm had a fun seasonal setup for Easter, along with a shop where you can buy fresh fruit, beef jerky, and other local goods. Overall, this was one of the most fun and unique experiences we've had. If you enjoy the outdoors, want a bit of adventure, and don't mind getting in a great workout, I highly recommend giving Sunburst Railbikes a try. Riding over a moving rattlesnake in between the tracks was a startling surprise! I lived to tell the tale there! The first stop at the end of the route before turning the railbikes back was ok, but I feel there could be some kinda stalls or local art on display during the 15 minute break. Surely some vendors could set up something? The next stop going back was at Prancers Farm which was ok for some local produce. Having said that, a fruit smoothie or ice cream made locally would be a nice touch? I went to go look at the animals but didn't wanna pay $7 each person to do so. After this 30 min stop we went back to the depot. I experienced this adventure in early spring on a day which was maybe high 70s. I'm not so sure I would enjoy this in Summer.
