Unassuming on the outside, Los Arcos is a fairly typical, festively colorful Mexican restaurant with a good sized menu. They feature all the usual Tex-Mex standards you'd expect. The food is pretty solid with their tacos, burritos, quesadillas and enchiladas all being pretty good. Their prices are reasonable too and a good value for the money since they haven't jacked up their prices "due to COVID". Service is always friendly enough and is moderately but not overly attentive. Met my family here for dinner before we went to see the Christmas Lights at the park. Walked in with 4 adults and 1 child and we were seated right away. They came out right away with chips and salsa. Service was quick they were right on it. My Margarita was very good. Daughter and I ordered steak tacos. Meat was tender with good flavor. Hubby ordered El Tapatio. Said it was very good. Can't remember what my son ordered but he was also happy with his food. All in all good place to have dinner. Service was friendly and food came out quick with no problem. Traveling The Lincoln Highway I was making my way in the city when I passed this restaurant and the sign said genuine Mexican food. I decided to give it a test. Got a carry out of Vegetarian Fajitas. I met my brother and parents here for a late lunch on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. This is an easy place to find from the road. When I got here the parking lot was moderately full of cars which is always a good sign especially given how late I arrived. The chips and salsa were decent; they have both the average every day type of salsa as well as hot salsa. While the restaurant was busy, it was not hard to hear everyone at the table. There is a lunch menu which makes your ordering easier as there is less things to pick from. I ordered the fiesta nachos with chorizo for the meat. The nachos came out nice and hot. They are set upon exactly how I like them; with everything on top of the chips. The menu had many options that were gluten free and some that it was easy to modify to be gluten free. In a review of another Upper Sandusky restaurant, I mentioned my surprise at the quality of restaurants in such a small town. Los Arcos is also on my list of good restaurants. I used to live in New Mexico and love southwestern and Mexican cooking. I usually don't like even going to Mexican restaurants outside of New Mexico because I'm so often disappointed. That's not the case with Los Arcos! I ate lunch there at least once a week during my recent 4 week visit. The food is authentic and delicious. The service is prompt and friendly, usually provided by either the father/owner, or his grown children, David & Michelle. They are are very personable, with David, in particular, sharing some of the family/restaurant history with us during one visit. They've been in business for 17 years now, which tells me something about the place. The prices are so reasonable that leaving a tip based on what they charge seems cheap, so I didn't! It's a great place for lunch as I don't like to spend too much time away from work and they can get you in and out pretty quickly, although they don't rush you either. read more

Awesome Mexican food in a little burg like Upper Sandusky? It's more likely than you think. We stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night and the place was hopping. It's a big place, to be sure, so we didn't have to wait long. Not too loud, although that may depend on how many beers-deep the table next to you has gone. Fresh-fried chips and salsa, of course, and a GIANT menu of anything you would think to order, plus a nice variety of sauces and preparations. Being in the sticks also has its advantages when it comes to the quality of the proteins and the Los Arcos' chefs obviously know how to get the best flavor from those proteins - my chicken Colorado was juicy and flavorful. (One of my issues with Tex-Mex cuisine is the lack of flavor/texture in protein preparation - everything tastes the same. Pseudo-foodie rant over.) Los Arcos knows how to prepare and cook food that is a good sum of its parts rather. Definitely will be back here when we visit Upper! read more

It may be the only Mexican place in town but it would still be the best if there were 10 places in town. The outdoor dinning is the way to go the waiters can be hard for some people to understand as they have thick accents. The inside is decorated with bright colors and ostentatious furniture. The margaritas are delicious, and beer comes at a discounted price when purchased my the bucket. The food comes to the table just the way i like it fast, hot ,and yummy. I recommend getting the shrimp enchilada. a flour tortilla filled with shrimp and peppers then smothered in white queso. The shrimp is always large and tender unlike many places where your shrimp can be likened to chewing on a bouncy ball. The chips and salsa are never ending and its a great place for large groups because they have no problem pushing tables together. The final verdict: Come with the family or a group of friends drink have a good time and leave feeling like u have eaten too much. The Place to be in Upper Sandusky! read more

I love this place..... I have been all over the world while in the military so i am very critical of food and authenticity. I lived out of state and was working in Upper, I decided to give this place a try and loved it. While working here, I met my wife and this was our first date restaurant (we will celebrate out first anniversary in Oct 2019. Best I've had in the Midwest. My waiter told me he moved with his family to help his uncle and they all came from Los Angeles. They opened another restaurant and eventually his father split off to open his own. I believe it was a good decision. They brought legitimate Mexican food to the Midwest. It's not the best Mexican food I've had (growing up in in SoCal might have spoiled me), but it's solid Mexican food in Ohio. I ordered a chile relleno and some pork tacos which were all tasty. I added some spicy salsa (you have to ask for it) and they were even better. Definitely give this place a try! UPDATE 2012-02-06 I've been waiting to visit Los Arcos again and finally had a chance yesterday. I have to retract all of my statements above. The food was extremely bland, the salsa was underwhelming and I didn't even want to finish my dish. The chicken was flavorless and over-cooked. The burrito and quesadilla were just as bad as any other midwest "Mexican" restaurant I've been to. A friend tried a couple of items as well and banned me from picking a restaurant next time. Traveling from Detroit down to Columbus and this place showed up on Yelp as a decent place to stop en route. The tacos were ok and the beer was cold, but not really much to write home about. Truth be told though, there weren't many other options in the are though so I could see how this place could be "as good as it gets" for the area. read more

Went here twice while in the area for work. Lunch specials were typical of Mexican restaurants. However, I feel the portion size was lacking for the fajitas. Plate was full of peppers and onions, with only a small helping of chicken. Don't think I would recommend. read more

They say it's authentic, but I've had better more authentic Mexican food that was made by my family. It's unclean, service is hit or miss. Rumor has it around upper Sandusky that they have a cockroach problem. Overall you'd be better off just going to Marion or Bucyrus to get quality Mexican food. read more

Decided to give this place a visit recently, food was rather bland and portions on the small side compared to other Mexican Restaurants. Our server seemed to be bored and not very friendly. She only stopped by when we were basically finished with our meals. Chips and salsa were okay but salsa lacking, it too was bland. I was disappointed all around with this place. As a first time customer I had high hopes, but the service was awful. The only time the waiter talked or even walked over to our table was to ask what we'd like to drink and order...right after we were seated. Then no offers on refills or even asking to see how our food was. The restaurant wasn't packed with customers and there were so many waiters/waitresses standing around either on their cell phones or staring at you as you ate....but nobody took the time to give us quality service. I'm sorry I even left a tip. I would recommend the drive to Findlay's Mi Tequila any day over Los Arcos. read more
