The food was good but some of the pasta was overcooked. The short rib was fine but the sauce was kind of cool by the time it came out. The risotto was fine and tasted good. The Brussels were deep fried and just okay. We had a cake for my son and our server, I believe his name was Brandon brought out a giant sparkling torch candle. It was a fun touch and we all got a kick out of it. It's noisy inside but we didn't mind since we were joyous and not super quiet. The decor is nice. We took a few pics after dinner when the dining room cleared out. Brandon was again attentive and came to help us take a group picture. Marion is about 45 mins from home but it was a good experience and we would go again!

As for the food, all of us ordered the lasagna. The portion was ennormous. The sauce on Top was good, but the pieces were rock hard, and nearly impossible to cut. The inside was dry, as in lacking any moisture. Too many layers, the ricotta was pressed thin, and dry. One corner of a piece served someone hard a corner that looked old and dried out Tomato sauce. I never had a bad meal at the Warehouse the place that was once housed in the building. But this was awful food. Never again.

Locals praise this restaurant as a fine dining establishment of Tiffin. Well.... I hope this isn't…read morethe only one as they are SOL if this is it. The space is amazing. Great building, decor and vibe. What killed the vibe was the patrons at the bar with the 4 year old going WWE on his drunk uncle like it was a backyard BBQ and the seating. Flimsy wooden stool like chairs or a straight high back booth. The most comfy spot in the room was the piano bench in the middle of the room. Apparently the restaurant was expecting a HUGE crowd for the eclipse. There wasn't one to Tiffin. Their limited menu and $35 dinner buffet went to waste. The buffet had been sitting out for hours. Dried out potatoes, pasta, ribeye slices that were now overcooked and chewy. We opted for the menu but momentarily were flustered that the limited menu also said cash only. Smh. Since the crowd wasn't a factor, the cash only was waived. Thankfully. (Then discovered they raised the prices on the limited menu for the event) Wasn't concerning but annoying since the event fell flat. I ordered the scallops and my husband the burger. Burger was fine, cooked to temp. Good pickles, great house made ketchup and duper fresh French fries. So good we ordered a second serving. My scallops were a joke. Three tiny 1" scallops under a coating of lobster cream sauce, and frozen chopped spinach all in a bed of overcooked white rice with some wild rice mixed in. Let's start top down. The lobster cream sauce was gritty and starting to separate. The chopped spinach was oddly bright green, unseasoned and should not have been on the plate. The scallops were fine but small. I could not eat the rest. It was awful. I ate the scallops and let her take the rest of the plate and order a side fries to supplement. I wish I had ordered the mushroom flatbread instead. Burger was good. I had a normal glass of white wine. Nothing notable. My husband ordered an old fashioned. It was good. He ordered a second and it was totally different than the first. To finish, we ordered a crème brûlée. It came out, not on a plate but just put on the table in the cup with two spoons laid on the table. Smh. Idk what was going on. They brought out a side of fries on a plate and even the side of mayo, earlier. It was just odd. The space is beautiful. The service is spotty. Food is a hard miss or home run, therefore good luck if you try it.

The sauce was rich and flavorful, the chicken perfectly tender, and the pasta underneath tied everything together. You can tell they take real care in the kitchen here. The whole experience was great -- friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, and a menu that feels upscale but totally approachable. You don't need a reservation, but the food and service make it feel like you should. If you haven't tried the Chicken Marsala yet, you're missing out -- it's easily one of the best dishes in Tiffin!

It's about a downtown as one can get, and easy to find. Inside The Side Rail looks larger than it does from the outside. It's nicely railroad themed with train signage, photos, and memorabilia around the place. Since it was Thursday evening around dinner time, the place was kinda hopping. There were no table available so we sat at the bar. The menu is sizable and has a lot of really appetizing items and it was, legit, hard to chose. I selected the Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese (Texas toast smothered in jalapeno cream cheese spread and bacon, along with cheddar and pepper jack cheeses) with onion rings. They have, on our visit, about 6 different beers on tap, and from what we were told they're ever-changing. There were a number of screens behind the bar showing sporting events. The bar, itself, was adorned railroad style, of course, with real model railroad track. It was a very cool touch. Food delivery was less than 10 minutes, and it was served HOT, and the the Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese was exactly what I needed/expected. The onion rings were excellent (however, I did ask our server and they're not made/breaded their, but come out of a frozen bag. :( ) Nonetheless, they were fantastic. Our server (whose name escapes me) was great and answered all of our questions without hesitation. She also kept our iced teas topped off. The Side Rail is a fun, neighborhood kinda place with awesome theming and friendly staff. I wish this was closer to home. I could hang out here regularly.

I was out there the other day and made a mental note to remember it and alas, went for lunch today. I had the Betty's salad with a fried bologna sandwich combo. With a small fountain drink, it was $12 bucks and change. GREAT DEAL! The salad had fresh spinach, bacon, egg, lots of bean sprouts, onion, all the good things Betty's salad should have. The Betty's dressing was great too. The fried bologna... OK, not exactly gourmet, but definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. If this sandwich is on the menu, I have to try it! Their version of this is really great. Your choice of bread (sour dough, white, rye, wheat, etc). It comes with lots of bologna and cheese with your choice of toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, etc). Not as great as G & R Tavern in Waldo (seriously, fried bologna or sandwich spread lovers - you need to go), but a very generous, well-made sandwich. This will probably be my go-to every time I go back. The place is clean, the portions are generous, and the food is really good. Looking forward to return visits!
