We have gone to Cucos in Bryan for almost a year and are rarely disappointed. Their food is always great but the service can be a little spotty at times. This only happens when we have a server we have never seen before. The more experienced servers are always on top of their game. The menu is awesome with exceptional choices. Literally the worst service I have ever had. I saw our waitress, Rickianna, only four times the entire two hours that we were there. Once to take our drink order, 15 minutes after we had been seated, once to bring the drinks/take food order, once bringing bill and finally to give us a copy to sign. The bus boy/wait assistant was amazing and refilled our drinks and chips on a regular bases, even bringing us togo boxes and silver wear when we asked him to. I ordered the fajita tacos which were cold when we got them, but seemed like they would have been good if they had come in a timely manner (not an hour later). If it weren't for the horrible service I think that this restaurant would have been decent, but only go there if you want to be treated horribly. read more

I came here one time and from the time we walked in a different person helped us each time we interacted with staff (server seated us (after several minutes of waiting at the empty hostess stand and seeing employees carrying a conversation at the bar), busser brought us our food, a different busser refilled out drinks, etc.). I didn't even know who to tip because I didn't know who my server was. not that I should've left a tip to begin with, because the overpriced food (1 cheese and 1 shrimp enchilada) was overcooked. Had dinner here after a get together at the local park. The cactus pear margarita is muy delicioso frozen with sugar on the rim, and the beer-Rita's are huge. The service is excellent, and the avocado dip (not guacamole) is addictive. The food is similar to that of other chain TexMex places, though. Rumor has it that the brunch is phenomenal, so I will be seeking out the closest one to check it out soon! read more

I usually love this place but tonight it was terrible. Service was bad, they were short handed though. But for a Friday night they didn't seem too busy to me. We didn't get ice in our drinks, we had to ask multiple times for ice. We had to ask for chips and salsa and refills and didn't get them in a timely manner. Then when we finally got our food it was wrong. I asked for the chicken stuffed avocado and got beef, which wasn't a big deal because it was still good. My husband ordered a chicken fajita chimichanga and got shredded chicken and couldn't even get half of it down. We went for dinner on a Sunday afternoon around 4pm. It wasn't busy yet the service was so slow. Waiters were walking past us several times never asking if we were helped. Finally an older gentleman with very little English asked if we wanted a drink. I ordered a beer and water. Then a younger guy came back to ask what we ordered. We sat waiting for someone to take our order for at least 10 minutes. They just kept walking past us. The food wasn't good at all. Tortillas were hard, didn't even eat them. After we finished waiter was walking past we said can you bring check please. We had it ready quickly. He walked past us 3 times but didn't take our bill. We waited and waited finally the older man came and got our credit card. The younger guy came back and said sorry about this technical difficulties with the manager. We tried Los Cucos on Texas for the first time tonight and really enjoyed it! The menu prices are on the high end, but not too ridiculous. We had the Wednesday night special- sizzling fajitas for 2 for $14.99 w/purchase of 2 drinks. That wasn't bad b/c we had $1 draft w/HH. (Reg price is over $20, so I'd suggest going on Wed for this plate.) We added the poblano sauce and it was absolutely delish! Fajitas were tender, rice was good, beans were just 'eh'. My brother had the carnitas and it was delish, also...fork tender. Service was great. We can't speak for the rest of the menu, since it was our first time, but we'll def be giving this place another try soon. read more

Sadly disappointed with the service and food. This past week we visited this restaurant. We waited and waited and waited but only got chips and green sauce.... which were both good but no wait staff approached us to ask what we wanted to drink... 30 minutes later, I decided to go speak to the hostess at the front of the restaurant. The restaurant was not crowded but we had been waiting for at least 30 minutes for service. I explained we had enjoyed a meal there in the past and I loved there green salsa but no one had waited on us and we had been there over 30 minutes. They ask us to stay and told us they would make things right. We sat back down and finally were approached and someone took our order. The coffee was never refilled, and the food arrived but was greasy....so much so that the basket of chips this time were limp not crisp and the food was of low quality. The meat for the enchaladas I had was very greasy and not flavorful. The waiter would not come back and bring us our check so after waiting a good 15 or so minutes we had to approach the hostess again. The service was slow and the food poor. The queso isn't as good as Ninfa's and the service is far inferior to other restaurants. The potential was there and the coffee and tea were both good. and the green saulsa is delicious but not worth having to wait so long. I thought when the manager ask us to stay and said he would take care of us that he would give a discount since the service had been so slow. But that was not the case. I wish I could have had a score of less than one star. If I could take back the horrible decision to come to this restaurant, I assure you that I would have. The wait to even get my water to drink was considerable, but was nothing compared to the drinks or the chips and food. The chips were never refilled after being brought out, and I found a hair in the salsa. After getting our food, which seemed thrown together and was very sloppy, our waiter did not come back until we had been finished eating for thirty minutes to give us our check. We had to flag down a different waiter to take out check so we could leave, and just had a horrible time with the waitstaff. Tacked on alongside disgusting and/or inedible food that's horribly overpriced, the awful service truly was a death knell for this restaurant. And to round out the evening, our party ended up getting food poisoning. So please, if you're reading this, do yourself a favor and buy some food from a gas station, or pick some food out of the trash rather than coming here. read more

Not sure I understand the haterade for this place. Used to go here quite a bit with friends who lived in the area. The margaritas were great, the place is way more comfy than the CS one, and the chicken and beef fajitas were always on point. The service at the bar here is horrible. We came in and sat at the bar and literally sat here for over 30 mins before we finally had to flag 1 out of 4 bartenders down in which they all had walked past us at least 40 times. Then we order a couple simple Margarita on the rocks and it took yet another 20 mins to get it. So 50 minutes into it and only one drink served should be considered to be the worse service possible. Then after we quickly suck down the margarita since we were so damn thirsty we wait for at least 20 more minutes hoping they would notice that it if 3 of us our glasses were all empty and we flag down this guy bartender and ask him for refills and he said "ok" then walked away looked up at the tv and tinkered with it then walked to the cooler threw a serving tray on top, then talked to a couple sitting across the bar and just completely ignored us! Like are you kidding me!!! Another customer sitting just to the side of us flagged down and young lady and said "Hey they ordered some margaritas like 15 mins. Ago" she said "oh I'm sorry" then went reluctantly to go get us a margarita that literally took not even one minute to pour. This is just ridiculous service here. I used to come here almost every week with my family when I was younger but we just suddenly stoped coming, tonight I remembered why. We walked in and no hoists was there to greet us or give us to a table, she was in the back corner talking to an employee and didn't come until someone yelled across the restaurant to. After we were sat, shawna, our waitress, who we only saw three times the entire time we were there was extremely rude. She took our order and drink order, brought us our drinks 10 minutes later, didn't come back until we got our food, 20 minutes later, and then gave us our check. She kept disappearing into the back and it would have been slightly more acceptable if the restaurant was packed but there were only three other people in the restaurant besides the bar. Our food was cold, and very old looking/tasting. Even my sweet tea tastes like it was dirty. I currently will not be returning. read more

NOT VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY! Not friendly at all, in fact. This is our third time coming here. The first time we dined in and it was a fine experience. Our waitress was kind and was willing to work with us when we simply asked for fajitas with no meat- no problem! Our second time we tried to place an order for pick up and ended up having to cancel our order entirely after 10 minutes due to the negative attitude of the girl taking the order. And then, thirdly, tonight- we sucked it up and spend almost 15 minutes ordering vegetable fajitas and a chile relleno, and when I got there to pick it up the girl at the front was so unpleasant it made me never want to come here again. Not to mention that three groups of patrons walked by the desk on their way out and said "goodbye" and "thank you", and neither one of the girls felt the need to respond to them at all- completely ignored their own customers. For anyone with dietary needs or preferences, I would absolutely recommend avoiding this establishment- their blatant lack of knowledge and respect could be dangerous. Decided to meet some friends for Cinco de Mayo and try out the Bryan location for the first time. Our friends are "kid-less" so by the time we were able to join them, they were already done eating. Our friends told the waiter that others would be joining, so no surprises. My husband and I arrive and sit down. The waiter comes and I make very simple requests 1) Margarita 2) Menu 3) Chips and Salsa. 20 minutes later I see the waiter at another table and I motion him over. 1)Where's my margarita? 2) NVM the menu..we already went and got our own 3) How much longer on the chips and salsa? 4) Can I place my order? Told him our order-Beef fajitas for two..simple right? Finally get my margarita right before my actual food comes. THE ORDER IS WRONG!!! I ordered beef, not a combination. He tells me.. "I told them beef, it wasn't me." He says this as he's handing us a bill that blatantly says "Combo Fajitas". We paid 50 bucks for food we did not order and horrible service. I wish I could give this a zero star rating. My husband and I ordered fajitas for 2 to-go on our way back from a family vacation. About 2 months ago he got food poisoning from Los Cucos but we were tired and thought we might as well try again. WRONG! We got home and unloaded the food and there was salsa everywhere! But we didn't actually get a container of salsa. The bags of tortillas were covered in salsa, the one small handful of chips we got were soggy, because the bag was covered in salsa. You may ask why didn't we notice this when we left the restaurant, well we were tired, hungry, and my husband went in and got the food and and all of the salsa covered items were on the bottom of the bag where we couldn't see them until we got home. we ordered extra sour cream, didn't get any. What we did get was someone else's entire order of enchiladas and some sort of chicken breast with cheese and lettuce. And was charged $40!! For what, I don't know! I called and complained and the manager said they were training people and all he could do was give me the items I was missing. Pass! I live 30 minutes away! Will not be returning. read more

Today, my friend and I went to lunch here. We've been here many times before. We received horrible service, the waiter was not friendly by any means, and he then when he over-charged me for small quesadillas, he had the audacity to tell me that I was wrong and that he doesn't make the prices(very rudely). Then he got the manager for me, and the manager was just as inexperienced as the waiter. He was very rude, and did not give good customer service. I do not recommend going here during the lunch time, they try to up-charge you, and they definitely do not go by the menu, especially on happy hour drinks. Very disappointed :( read more

In the past, I have gotten good food here. Some creative fajitas. Lately, however, the service has been terrible. Two of the last three times I have eaten there, I got the wrong order. The management does not seem to care. The location by the hghway suggests they are not interested in repeat business but simply pushing people thru the restaurant and out the door. The restaurant is very loud and that is when they have nothing else going on. Some nights they do karoke and have the volume so loud that everyone in the restaurant has to shout to hear each other. Other times they bring in a band to make more noise. Conversations are impossible. There are lots of good Mexican restaurants close by with better food and more important quality service. read more

The absolute worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Sat down and ordered and the waitress took our drink order, went & got our drinks then asked if my husband & I were ready to order to which we replied that we weren't. Two minutes later she comes over and ask if we were ready and we still weren't. Another two minutes pass & she comes back- by this time we just decide to order even though we're not ready because she is rushing us. About 10 minutes after we order my drink is empty and as she walks by looking at our table she never offers a refill. We then get our food & the next time we see our server is when we're halfway done with our meal. She comes over to ask if we need anything and I have to ask for a refill for myself and now for my husband. After we're done with our meal she comes by to ask if we need anything. We ordered dessert, she puts the order in & she brings it out. Doesn't prebuss the table, doesn't ask if we need anything. I purposely left my plate in the way to see if she would take it- she didn't. We finish our dessert and our server is found to be talking to other employees who are sitting in a booth. So we ask for the manager who comes over and said, "did you need something?" Doesn't introduce herself, isn't very approachable which is two qualities a manager should have. We explain our frustrations with her to which she replies, "okay" as my husband was talking to her I could tell she honestly didn't care because it was written on her face the entire time so I wasn't surprised when that was all she said. Not even an apology. We then have to ask for our check because she is again no where to be found and after we have been there for almost two hours at this point we go up to the host station to ask to pay out. We weren't looking for a free meal or even free anything. I started serving tables when I was 15 until I was 21 and I can take a lot because I'm very understanding when it comes to servers. But like I said this was the absolute worst customer service experience ever. I'm not sure how the manager, Janette was made a manager. If I could rate this overall restaurant and the staff lower than one star I absolutely would. read more

i've been wanting to try los cucos for a while, i finally got the chance to go and i chose to go to the bryan location. the waiter we got was extremely awkward and creepy. he not only neglected to check up on us, but he would stare at me and ignore my friend while asking questions. something just was not right. we spoke to a manager about it and it seemed to make things worse, he chased us on our way out and gave me the tip i left him and said "you forgot this." it was one of the weirdest experiences i've ever had. the food was really good, but with the service that we got..it was NOT worth it. read more

We used to be frequent diners, however every time we give them one more chance we say never again. The food has gone down hill but the service is unacceptable. We sat at a table near the bar. Not exactly sure who our server was because when I asked Katy, the so called manager on duty, she said the bar was our server. Mauricio and rikianna were the 2 behind the bar and it was bad enough to get poor service from one, but two people who couldn't give ANY service except to bring our check is ridiculous. It was 9:29, not even finished eating and the original bar server starts throwing chairs on top of the tables behind me...they close at 10 but I felt the need to hurry along. I decided to have a seat and continue to see how long they were going to ignore me. Finally the hostess who was deep into her studying had to inform Katy that I was waiting to speak to her. She had no care in the world! Took my payment and said she would talk to them. Josh, the general manager, is on vacation this next week...AGAIN!
